Bad news, bad news

This certainly sucks.

Hate it for Bennett, who’s leading the team in receptions.  If Georgia had to suffer an injury, though, wide receiver is probably the deepest position on the team.  Conley and Mitchell need to step it up.

He has the most sure hands of all of our receivers. Sucks.

Of all the WR He Is the one I hate to lose the most.
Marlon Brown is the most capable of running the routes & catching the passes thar have been Bennett’s Forte.

That’s a blow, and really tough for him. I would wonder if he can get a medical redshirt, but since I’m pretty sure he’s really a disguised Kris Durham in his 8th year it is probably best not to even inquire.

      haha @ the 2nd part.

in regards to the redshirt– 30% or less of the games so it looks like he can’t. sucks all around……………..

If we play 14 games, he’d be under 30%. Or do is it only count for regular season games?

Only regular season games. 4 games is the max for a medical RS.

Yes, four games is max, but it doesn’t really matter since he already had his red shirt year. To get another year of eligibility at this point, he would have to apply for a sixth year – which could only be done after his fifth year, would require a lot more missed time, and is very hard to get. I hope that doesn’t enter the picture.

Not sure the 30% applies to medical redshirt. Thought a medical applied anytime it unfortunately happens. Good connection to Kris. You know that Bennett communicates at least once a week with Kris, don’t you?

everything i’m reading says <30% applies to medical redshirts as long as all the games are in the first half of the season. "hardship waiver" is the official term i believe.

Had heard that earlier but didn’t know how bad ti was. Sincerely hate this much more for him than for the team. He is a gamer, somebody needs to step up as the clutch, go-to guy. We have good depth at receiver but there is a reason he has gotten more attention from AM on possession downs. Prayers that he will recover and regain that speed to allow him to prosper at the next level, he deserves to be rewarded for his hard work and dedication.

That is bad news for him and for us. I guess MM will be back on offense full time now. Chris Conley will be in play more too. Praying for his recovery.

Damn! Why did I open my big virtual mouth yesterday and write “I s’pose we can add to the ‘good’ some possible S&C benefits, as perhaps evidenced by … (ii) (knock on wood, knock on wood, knock on wood) little lost playing time due to injuries”? My Momma always told me to listen to the little guy in the back of my head, and there he was, whispering “don’t say it, dumbass, don’t say it!” But, oh noooo…

Guess I’ll have to look MB up when he’s of age and buy him some serious bourbon, at the very least.

Now would be a good time. He’s not playing until next year, so there’s that not to worry about.

By the way, several of us have mentioned lack of injuries and we didn’t qualify the remarks with “Knock on Wood”. So the onus is on us. I don’t consider that to be faulted since Scorp is around to shoulder the burden by not worrying enough.

Yeah, well, you could, but since I can only speak for myself, I damn sure ain’t tempted the Fates by talking about injuries…or Bama in Atlanta, or anything else beyond this week, thank you very much.

Losing Bennett is a real blow to the offense, not just because of his ball skills, but because of the true joy he brought to the field….He just loved it.

There is a learning curve when it comes to dealing with the Kharmic Bitches…hubris is something them gals just loooooove. ‘Sides, “nuts” is a relative term when you are talking about football fans in the South. I kinda think its cool.

FWIW & IMO… As good of a receiver as MB is, he’s a better downfield blocker. Without some of his blocks 3&4 don’t have as many long runs…:-)

If I would or would not do such a thing in re: an underage potential or possible imbiber, I would take into account the evidentiary risk of mentioning the would or would not-ed-ness on a public forum, even under a pseudonym. Perish forbid that anyone under the age of 21 should taste the bitter poisons of Kentucky mash before his/her/its time (which we who benefited from the 18 year old drinking age of yore say with all due hypoc… uh, humility).

The 5 wide formation sounds less appealing now. We can obviously still run it, but damn, like others said, he was Murray’s favorite & most reliable target so far this season. WIN IT FOR BENNETT!!!

let’s hope the other MB, Marlon can keep producing at the level he has so far this year. if he does, it will lessen the impact of bennett’s injury. hopefully malcolm mitchell returns to form as well.

Really gonna miss Michael “White Lightning” Bennett’s attitude and demeanor on the field. He has been a great competitor and his work ethic in catching and blocking seemed to lift our receiver group. Liked the comment above, “WIN IT FOR BENNETT” and hope that is our rallying cry for Carolina. Michael Bennett = DGD!!!

  23. Richt should have considered BENNETT like finding a Diamond in the forest on that Dawg NITE he was discovered. I still remember how Richt reacted when he made either his first TD or a pivotal catch in game last season. This should be a big disappointment to Richt. He seem to be really fond of Bennett.

  28. This will now really test Murray’s maturity and his ability to emotionally get over this disappointment, and to change his mind set to win against a ranked team on Saturday. NO EXCUSES PLEASE.

No excuses, no regrets. This is a loss but with the recievers we have featured so far, add Mitchell, Conley, and expand the roles of JSW, Wooten, and Brown it could be just a half-step back. Along with King, we still have a great group for AM to target. Very sad for Bennett but maybe the other receivers can get him a ring anyway. Got to believe, we didn’t really expect to go through the season without some bad breaks did we?
