Same opinion here, but I’m actually angry about it. Anyone upset that a player in his situation is trying to take some shred of enjoyment out of life can f-off and die. Makes me genuinely ashamed of the university and it’s fans.

Any self-proclaimed fan of college football who would publicly express being ashamed of a player (young man) for not playing well in a game should at best reconsider his/her life priorities and at worst be ashamed of him/herself.

The loss was a shocking embarassment for the program and coaches. But to express you are ashamed with a young man publicly is a different thing altogether. We should rightly be ashamed of a player for carrying an concealed, unregistered weapon on campus in the middle of the night. It is shameful, however, to attempt to shame a young man for playing a poor game. To borrow your words, “I find myself amazed that you take pride in” shaming any player of ours for game performance.

You’re probably the only person in the world who honestly thinks we have a legitimate offensive line, but I’ll respond anyway…
I’m referring to the offensive line that was shut out for 58 minutes against an above average (and far from great) SEC team. Yeah, that’s the one.

Let me get this straight, you’re saying USC defensive front isn’t good? Not saying Uga offensive line is great bit give credit when it is due. They’ve played pretty well outside of one game. Also, USC deserves credit for playing well too.

The team may be just above average, although I think that could be argued. But the ‘Cocks D-line is anchored by two future first rounders.

SC has a strong defensive front, I’ll grant you that. Consider, however, that Vandy’s O line managed to help their offense out more than ours did. The same could be said for Missouri. And Kentucky.

Plenty of golfers improve their game w/ psychologists. I’m not talking about the kind where you go and sit in an office and talk about your problems. But there is something to mental preparation that goes beyond simply practicing schemes, watching film, and physical conditioning.
We appear to be in a mental block right now in big games, quite similar to the mental block we (usually) have had against UF over the last couple of decades. Our players have to believe that they can play w/ anybody. The power of belief. Believing that you belong on that big stage and that you can beat down any opponent, no matter how superior the talent.
I think back to 2006. That was a rebuilding year for sure. And we dropped games against UK and Miss St, 2 games that should have been gimmes, even in a rebuilding season. But, we closed out strong, knocking off 3 ranked opponents in a row: #5 Auburn, GT, and VT. The beat down of Auburn would have been the most impressive if it had not been for the heroic second-half comeback against VT. The power of belief. Even though we had a less-than-stellar season, I am damn proud of that team.
We definitely need some sort of mental adjustment. It may not be something that is quantifiable or tangible, but that doesn’t mean it can’t make all the difference.

You can never KNOW if you’ll beat a team. But merely THINKING that you’ll beat a good team is not enough.
It’s not enough just to have “heart.” Plenty of losers have heart. Winners BELIEVE they can and will win. I think that’s the biggest difference this season b/w Bama and everybody else. They are young. They are inexperienced. They are candidates for getting exposed. But, they play like they believe they will win. That is why they are so damn physical and intimidating.

He’s the quarterback and he has to play with both the line and backs he has for the rest of the season. What choice does he have other than to express his confidence in them and try his best to build them up in the hopes that they will both perform well and continue to get better. Seems like he is simply trying to be the leader we all expect him to be. If he wasn’t doing something like this we’d be complaining about that too.

Seeing as how we, as fans, are essentially perfect in every aspect of our lives, we certainly have the right to expect and demand the same from college kids and their coaches, especially if those players had a lot of stars by their names out of high school. No off games, no susceptibility to momentum, no getting down on yourself and playing poorly because of it, NO HUMAN EMOTION. I don’t think it’s too much to ask. It is, after all, an attainable goal–just look at Bama, LSU, USC, USCe, Oregon, Texas, Oklahoma, etc., all of whom have figured it out (excluding, of course, the games they lose).

Seem to remember this stat re the O line that has the two big frosh running back which everyone was gushing over until midnight Saturday. The four guys with their hands in the dirt in the 4-3 had 15 tackles for loss and 8 sacks. Let’s stop there, and not embarrass the offensive coaches and their work product.
