Ich bin ein Gator.

Sometimes a Dawg’s gotta do what a Dawg’s gotta do.

This week, it’s root for a second conference loss for the Gamecocks.

But by all means make it a slobberknocker, fellas.  Quadruple overtime wouldn’t hurt my feelings, either.

The road to the SECCG goes through Jacksonville. Can we finally show up and win a big game? Man, I hope so.

I also hope South Carolina loses to both Florida and Tennessee. Then, if we win out, they can’t bitch about the schedule.

I find myself growing increasingly weary of requiring others to fail in order to achieve success for the Dawgs. If they are deserving of success, would they not seize the opportunities presented to them? Having watched USC @ LSU, it only reminded me that South Carolina has passed UGA by. An appearance in the SECCG will only further demonstrate what most fans already know…the Dawgs are not capable of competing with top level teams. Was 2011 a “Felton” year for this program?

People like you take all the fun out of being a fan. Jeebus, just STFU for a change! This is college football. Part of the FUN is rooting for others to lose. It’s been this way since there have been polls.

Rooting for your rivals to lose is one thing. I root for Florida and Auburn to lose every weekend. However, rooting for teams to lose so this program can be handed success is another story. One, as I said above, that I am growing weary of. It is time for this program to earn success. Something Richt and Co. Have failed to do for some time now (some time now = 6 years). And before you ask, the 2011 Dawgs were gifted an opportunity to play in the SECCG by way of an Auburn W over USC. It is time that Richt and his team earn their keep.

It is your own self delusion and unwillingness to accept Richt and this program for what he/they truly are that takes the fun out of it for you. Not me, nor fans like myself.

Florida in 2006 got to the BCS CG only because UCLA beat #2 USC on a blocked PAT or something. I’ll bet the UF realists were pissed because UF backed into the BCS game. Only the Disney Gators were happy.

And, as everyone knows, the Gators were just happy to be there seeing as nobody in the world gave them a chance to win against the Troy Smith led Buckeyes. I don’t even know why they showed up, because, you know, upsets never happen in college football.

2011 was not a gift. UGA earned the SECE title by having fewer SEC losses than SCAR. You have bought in to the SOS propaganda.

If we go 11-1, how can you say the team hasn’t earned their way? Gotta beat the hated Gators.

You say UGA was gifted an opportunity to play in the SECCG because Auburn beat USC. I say that USC couldn’t take care of business and beat a bad Auburn team that lost to the other 5 ranked teams it played by an average of 28 points.

I find myself growing increasingly weary of your negativity. I don’t understand why you need to always try to find the gloom and doom. GO DAWGS. Rarely does a team go undefeated. Usually it takes wins from other teams to settle things out.

Really, STFU, or at least think your position through more. Under the scenario that would have to play out after a Florida victory over South Carolina, Georgia would have to beat an undefeated and third, possibly second ranked Florida team in Jacksonville. Would Georgia be “deserving” after that?

So I guess every team that has ever reached the SEC Championship Game without being undefeated in the conference didn’t earn its way there.

We respectfully disagree. We “required others to fail in order to achieve success.” We assume you don’t give us credit for conference and national titles?

First, two of those three lost at home to unranked opponents. Second, there is no defense of Skeptic Dog. He’s a bet welshing sockpuppet front running bandwagon jumping fairweather fan whose only mission is to put Georgia down. Nevermore is this apparent than in his comment, “An appearance in the SECCG will only further demonstrate what most fans already know…the Dawgs are not capable of competing with top level teams.”

If the Dawgs make the SECCG they will had to have beaten the current #2 team in the BCS to get there. There is no rhyme or reason to his comments, only negative rhetoric he probably picked up from some unsubstantiated source on Sports and Grits.

LSU proves again that you can win big games in spite of poor quarterback play. Mettenberger couldn’t hit the proverbial barn door last night.

LSU also proves, indirectly, my theory of why we aren’t better: lack of toughness and discipline. Maybe it’s time for the coaches to make our players fear them more than the opposition. The Van Gorder-Callaway friction back in the good old days wasn’t all bad; made men out of the players.

If LSU had our defense they’d have gotten run out of the stadium too, instead their defense kept them in it until the running game got on track, what do we have to do to get an aggressive well disciplined defense at UGA again? I am not being negative it is just so frustrating to me, teams who play great defense are never considered “finesse teams”, they are always in a game, never embarassed. I am sick of us wasting offensive talent with blown coverage and not going after people. We have the talent, there is no excuse.

Gotta bite the bullet and pull for the Gators.
I think SC will win thiis game and go to play Bama in the dome. Still, anything can happen, especially if Florida can stop SC’s big plays on returns.
5-1 IS a good start to this season. Expecting perfection will only buy you dissapointment and misery. Perfection is very rare and fleeting.
ZeroPointZero is right…UGA is very entertaining but not world beaters, the schedule if very fun and all of this does not rise to the level of life and death. I predict the Dawgs lose one more. That’s pretty good, and looking at really good in 13.

Good point. I hope with this much time to get ready we stop looking so out of sync. After a gloomy post uSC defeat week, I’m starting to feel optimistic about our chances. We remain weak across the O line, ST play is poor, and our D is not “communicating.” Two of those is fixable, one ain’t! Can we scheme around our O line’s short comings with two Frosh rbs? I don’t want to get too up!

I’d prefer for the Gators to win, of course, but it won’t be THAT big a deal for me one way or the other. First of all, the ‘Cocks are certainly capable of beating the Gators and then demonstrating major suckitude against, say, UT or Arky. In fact, whether they beat the Gators or not, you can probably expect UT shaping up as a major trap game for them. On the other side of the coin, we have to first beat UK, and I don’t care how lousy they looked yesterday, the Dawgs should take nothing for granted. Then we haveta beat the Gators no matter what, and my year long optimism about that game went out the window about the time SC scored its 3d TD v us. Then, whether we beat the Gators or not (but esp if we do), we’ll have Ole Miss waiting as our own trap game, and I’m one ol’ Dawg who NEVER takes the Auburn game for granted.

And the fact is, the Gators probably will win. I may eat these words, but I don’t think it’s that damn hard to figure out how to beat SC. Everybody knows what they’re going to do on O and D, and if you have the talent (which UF does), it’s just a matter of having the consistency and discipline to stop them from doing it. Georgia left its consistency and discipline on the field after the Vandy game, but UF is likely to perform as if beating SC is important. Then they’ll be sky high for the WLOCP.

I’m not one who gives up on a season until it’s clearly done, but it’s hard to like our chances to get to Atlanta or even to 10 wins.
