Hate. It’s what’s on the menu.

Now this is what I’m talking about.

Time to quit whining and remember why this is one of the great weekends of the regular season.

The people in this video know it.

UPDATE:  Mr. Gillett offers up some nicely played Gator bait.

… Finally the Gators have the vocal, emotional leader they’ve needed all this time. Finally they have someone who appears ready to lift them from the ranks of the mediocre and achieve something meaningful. And he’s neither a mercenary spread guru like Meyer nor a loyal Florida alum. He’s a product of the Gators’ arch-rival to the north, someone who once wore the colors of the team they’ll be going up against on Saturday.

That’s got to gall a lot of Georgia fans, certainly. But deep down, below the smiles and Gator chomps the Florida faithful have proudly displayed as they’ve cheered their team to its undefeated record and No. 3 national ranking, it surely galls Gator fans just as intensely, if not more so. They’ve stood by their team through decades of obscurity, hoping someone might finally help their program live up to its potential and achieve something meaningful — and the man who’s made it happen, the man who did what no one before him could do — is a product of the University of Georgia.

But don’t worry, Gators, we don’t begrudge you your current excitement, nor the unprecedented success that one of our own has brought to your program. Every team has its day, and the sleeping giant in Gainesville was bound to be awakened eventually; it’s ironic that it took a Georgia fan to do it, but we’re as proud of Will Muschamp as we are of all of our alums. When you do the Gator chomp at us in Jacksonville this weekend, we know it’s mainly a taunting gesture, but we also know that deep down you’re extending those arms to us with three words on your mind: “Thank you, Georgia.”

You know what, Florida? It takes a big man to say or even think that. And you’re welcome.

Of course, I wouldn’t mind in the slightest if Muschamp left Jacksonville this weekend still never having tasted victory as a Dawg or a Gator.

HELL YES! to every single thing in this post. Especially that list of things that make Gators nuts. He even forgot about running up the score on the ol’ balls coach!

I can understand most of the things he hates about Georgia because I have the same feelings about similar things from other schools, but the Larry Munson hate is just ridiculous. Too soon.

That’s a good quality list right there. You should hate everything that your rival holds dear. Munson, Uga, Hershel etc. It’s why I can’t stand jorts, prison orange, Emmitt Smith, Spurrier, all that damn arm “chomping”, and that silly old man 2 bits and his silly little chant.

I like the commenter that hates georgia fans because we smell like cabbage. I genuinely don’t know how to respond to that – so I guess that’s a point for him.

  5. Living in Asheville, NC I truly hate Florida people year-round; I never need a reminder. They come to our city & treat it with the same respect they do everything else: they litter, smoke around kids, cuss way too loud and basically take the “American Tourist” stereotype to a level of hyperbole only a Gator can.

Were the Gators number one at the cocktail party in 1980?…I thought that was 82. There you have it, verification of Florida’s view of history pre-Spurrier.

He also missed the Gator db’s knocking themselves out of the play.

Besides, when is hate supposed to be entirely fact based in the first place? 😉

Ironically, the description of the “the play” sounds straight out of a Munson call.

You may be right, but I suspect it is just that this part of Gator football history was suppressed to the point it was written in sand.

If memory serves, in 1980 the gators were 6-1 and ranked 15. The first time UF was #1 was the Monday (yes kids the polls came out in Monday way back then) before the WLOCP. We beat them down 24-3. The gators reign lasted 6 whole days. I believe it was 10 more years before they got back to #1. (Btw we had 2 freshman backs go for over 100 yards that day. Tim Worley and Keith Henderson.)

I think UF was ranked #1 in some polls the week before the ’66 WLOCP. Remember that was the famous game in which Bill Stanfil made Little Stevie cry,. He will never live that one down no matter how many times his teams beat the Dawgs.

He’s confused…but you already know that. Gators were #1 for the first time in 1985 before Henderson and Worley lit them up. I remember chanting “4 whole days!” for the length of time they were ranked #1.

Ga-Fl memory, my first Jacksonville game as a freshman in 1988. I thought the gator chomp was a Ga taunt since we did it while saying “it’s great to be a gator hater”. Wasn’t till my junior year w Goff I realized… Ah the innocence of youth.

  10. 1) Florida is nouveau riche with all of the trappings that come with it. They know this, but they don’t care. In fact, they relish in it.
    2) Singing “We are the Boys from Old Florida” is about as unmanly a tradition as there is in sports.
    3) They do the gator chomp to the Jaws theme.
    4) They memorialized Tebow’s tear-stained speech after a loss to Ole Miss with a plaque.
    5) They don’t play Miami annually, even though Florida State has always played both. One could speculate that it’s because they were scared. One would be right.
    6) Florida’s fans are much more similar to Florida State’s than any team in the SEC. They make fun of Florida State’s fans. While irony may be lost, self-loathing apparently is not.

My wife wondered aloud once why I liked watching Swamp People, and I thought it was rather obvious: It’s a show entirely dedicated to shooting gators in the head. It is the best show on television.

Muschump is NOT one of us, not any longer, he has been ex-communicated. I am glad they have him too, hope he is still wearing the oh-fer Satuirday night. Hope CMR goes to the ref before the game and explains doing the chomp during the game is the same taunting as if UGA players went to their face and barked (or celebrated). They have been getting away with that (how?) for years, time the playing field was leveled. Has to be worth at least 2 fifteen yarders on Saturday.

Looks like the rain may hold off for Saturday but gusty winds could help level the kicking advantage FU has. On passing, it may hurt us more on longer passes as Murray is definitely the throwing edge. More short, crisp passes if the wind is 20 MPH or higher.

Suggestion for those, including Boom, I would just express my dislike for Herschel from afar and from an anonymous area. But if Boom wants to settle things, he can represent FU against 50 year old Herschel mano y mano. That would extend the UGA edge over FU even further.

Mac, the mention of the kicking game takes me back to Georgia’s long ago and how we lived and died by the boot. That capability is the only part of FU’s game that will cause us immense trouble. We can beat them back to the goal line, but one good boot can reverse the advantage in a second. If he gets one with the wind, it could go as far as one “Spike” Jones kicked back in the mid to later 60s.

Why do people not know the difference between “Battle Hymn of the Republic” and “I’ve Been Working on the Railroad”??? I heard John Kincade make this same stupid mistake a few years ago, and I’ve heard one or two various UGA critics over the years say the same damn thing. Those are different songs people!
And “Battle Hymn” is the older of the two songs.
And it’s a piece of American history.
And it’s probably in the hymnal of your mama’s church.
    sigh.

It’s sure in the hymnal at my church. I told my wife once that I can’t help but think about the dawgs everytime we sing it. She said it’s fine , as long as I don’t yell “to hell with Ga Tech” at the end.

To the commenter who complained that Georgia fans give them shit for not being Southern. Guess what? You aren’t. I live 90 minutes from Jacksonville and let me tell you, once you get past I-10 you might as well be in New Jersey.

Florida is full of Yankees. During the Civil War, Florida contributed only 15,000 soldiers to the cause (compared with 100,000 from Georgia). Florida has fallen down on its collective knees to fellate known Yankees such as Walt Disney, Henry Flagler and Urban Meyer. 35% of Floridians voted for Walter Mondale in 1984.

Panhandle is the only decent place in the entire state of Florida, and the only one I visit any more. If Bama is so damn tough, how in the hell were they not able to defend that section of land? If it were in Alabama, it would be the only decent place in Alabama to visit (for different reasons). What a hose job that negotiation turned out to be. Strip of coast line stolen all the way across the bottom of Bama…damn. Well there is Gulf Shores and Fairhope so they had one decent defender.

You are very much better informed than I on this subject but with all the coastline in Florida, how did the settlement negotiation only give Alabama 40 miles or so of access to the Gulf? Something just looks strange about that, just like Alabama not building 4 lane roads to the Panhandle of Florida forcing their citizens to drive on dangerous 2 lane roads to get to the beaches east of Gulf Shores. Of course, maybe the saw the wisdom in putting a conservative voting block in the State of Florida to balnce some of the Leftists. In fact, now I wish Florida would annex more of Alabama, including Mobile and Montgomery! Oh well, another dream squashed.

Uh, sorry Cojones, the panhandle is solidly American. Not surprised they were on board with Newt because it is so conservative, especially on finances. But it has to offset the NY/NJ faction that brought their bad habits down with them, along with the number of retirees that are intentionally misled by media and campaign lies. South Florida is the baddest part of a bad state.
