This is lame at best and troubling at worst (at least if you’re an Auburn fan).
Auburn head coach Gene Chizik declined comment Tuesday when asked about Sheridan’s allegations.
Luper, the Tigers’ recruiting coordinator, declined comment Wednesday, said the Tigers staff is following its recruiting plan.”We’ve got our commitments, and we have a strategy to keep those guys,” Luper said. “We’re not going to elaborate on any of it, and we’re definitely not going to answer any accusations.”
Luper and Taylor have attended Auburn High School games over the last several weeks to see their sons play for the school, which is the same team as Tigers’ commitment Reuben Foster.
“Obviously, we can’t comment on any accusations, but I can tell you this,” Taylor said. “We have a plan in place for recruiting. We stick to that plan, and what this coaching staff is focused on, outside of recruiting, is winning a football game.”
Hunh? “Obviously, we can’t comment on any accusations?” Jeez, guys, it’s not like we’re talking about the FBI here. It’s Danny Freakin’ Sheridan. Nobody at Auburn had any trouble denying the Cam rumors – and that was with the NCAA sniffing around. But Trooper can’t say Sheridan’s FOS?
I guess that’s an invitation for the media to spend time following the two assistants around to see if they’re off the recruiting trail. They’re the ones sporting the backwards caps, fellas, so they shouldn’t be that hard to spot.
Good Senator, the story had been making the rounds way before Sheridan spoke in T-Town.

How detailed is the story as you’ve heard it, BD?

The Alabama message boards have whatever version you like. 🙂
Personally, after 2010 I’ve become numb to this topic. I’ll come back around when they have the press conference to talk about the sanctions.
It has crossed my mind, though, that perhaps the NCAA is being used to negotiate a lower buyout.

Very interesting take, BD. Given all the intrigue that seems to swirl around, I could believe that happening..

Bingo. When I read this story, I had the mental image of a boxer taking a knockout right-hook, and, while falling to the canvas, being repeatedly kicked in the nuts by numerous irrelevant shitheads.

I just do not understand why I can’t paste this in. BD, ask around cause I am sure it is framed in some of my friends homes in Birmingham.

Very odd, wouldn’t take much to deny, or laugh off Sheridan….especially when you did in 2010 when Auburn was guilty of soooo much. I thought calling da Trooper off the recruiting trail smelled very fishy, regardless of how much incoming fire the current staff was taking.

Y’all haven’t heard the rumors of the coaches being held at home and off the recruiting trail?

I’m still incredulous that two years ago Cam was ruled ineligible and then cleared in the same day (during UGA / AUburn week, right?)
And AJ’s uniformgate went on for how long??
I’m loving that karma is coming back to kick both Auburn and Cam in the nuts this year.

Auburn – The loveliest dumpster fire on the plains. There will never be enough good stuff like this (though a loss to NMSt this weekend would be nice).

Even nicer: if we can top the 63 TAMU dropped on ’em later this month.

The reason the 2 coaches wear their hats backwards is to make the investigators following them around think they are leaving.

Auburn is starting to remind me of mayor Quimby. They are always doing something wrong yet never seem to get in trouble for it. I wonder if right about now Van Gorder is starting to wonder what he got himself into.

Now I know where Danny Sheridan’s sweet mustache disappeared to… which also, explains why he is out to discredit The Barn.

I think everybody needs to chill with all of this Auburn talk. Y’all gonna wind up getting Chizik fired and that’s not good for any of us.

Chiz doesn’t need our help. He’s doing a good enough job of getting himself fired.

Chizik’s not going anywhere. On the flip side, keeping a coaching staff intact through a 2 or 3 win season, plus NCAA sanctions, will speak volumes on the number of skeletons in the closets down on the Plains.

In a private conversation with my Auburn Attorney; He said that Chizik will be there through 2013. They are making plans and expect that by December 2013 we will be sure about the new Auburn coach. Oh, they will deny that they have skeletons in the closet. They do a great job hiding that stuff.

told you this a few days ago. Chizik said no comment on if they had been pulled from recruiting. If they hadn’t that would be a pretty easy thing to say no to if not true. Wouldn’t surprise me if Auburn wanted to get in trouble provided it wasn’t too severe but severe enough to fire Chizik without having to give him money.
