Auburn’s offense is on the move, statistically speaking.
The Georgia Bulldogs do not have to challenge quarterback Cam Newton this time around at Auburn, but they won’t be facing college football’s worst offense, either.
Auburn shook that label Saturday afternoon by racking up 475 yards in a 42-7 dumping of New Mexico State, which elevated the Tigers from last among the 120 Bowl Subdivision teams in total offense (284.0 yards a game) to 113th (305.2).

We have an opportunity to win this game in the first quarter. You know this AU team has a fragile psyche and will roll over if distressed. I would be great to build a big lead early and make sure Gurley gets some rest. It looked like we were really trying to limit his carries last weekend. I think we know that if we win this Saturday, we are really, really going to need him the first weekend of December.

Auburn is going to have a big crowd for this game, too. At least, early on. They’ll be cheering for the upset, as winning one of their last two games will put a smiley face on an otherwise dismal year. It’ll be key to take the crowd out of it early. If we do, we’ll have a lot of empty seats to look at in the third quarter.

Oh they left before the 3rd quarter when TAMU visited them. 40+ points in a half is a lofty goal, but they proved it can be done to Auburn.

Auburn will sell out to salvage something of their season, or to ruin ours, because they will think they have no chance of beating Bama. I appreciate their effort but they just are a lousy team and have been unable to rise up in earlier “desperation” games this year. It won’t be enough, even with BVG wanting so much to limit the UGA offense, the Tiger offense cannot generate enough offense to allow their defense a break.
The LSU score is puzzling but I put it in the “any given Saturday” category which allows you to not go crazy while analyzing college teams. LSU was one dimensional that day and UGA has a variety of ways to move the ball; can’t think of anything else to attribute it to. I hate giving 15 points on the road, at night, in the SEC but I don’t see a way UGA doesn’t win by 3+ TDs and even the series.

I don’t know. We are actually hurting a good bit at WR after losing our two biggest, most physical guys. Gurley is a stud, but I think he’ll find the going pretty tough. Hopefully, we can connect on a deep ball or two or three to create some distance on the scoreboard like we did versus Ole Miss.
They probably need to keep showing the 2nd half of Auburn’s game last week to the D just so they can actually see the opponent having some success.
Just like UK, we’ll be able to tell pretty quickly whether or not it’s going to be a struggle.

Rantavious is back with us after his concussion scare. Mitchell is playing O like he never left it, King still gets loose and is a great receiver, Connelly can sneak fast like a striped-ass ape, plus our tight ends plus our RBs and FBs going out for pass. We aren’t hurting anywhere for receivers and someone to get the ball to them. McGowan is getting worked in along with other good ball handlers.
While sympathizing with Marlon for his loss, it won’t affect our Receiving Corps one whit.
Where in the world did you get the idea that Gurley won’t be able to run on Au? That’s some pretty weak sauce you are dishing out. Hold your trigger on players until Scorp gets the dope on their long snappah. After we determine if he is their toughest obstacle presented to us, then we will begin to flail our good stuff. Not until. 🙂

We need to come out on fire like we did against the Gators. I haven’t forgiven them for their poor sportsmanship and their coaches poor behavior the last time we were guests at their house. I want them to remember this Saturday night in case they ever start to stray away from the right way they should conduct themselves when playing a historic rival.

Nice to have other fans getting ready to enjoy our handiwork with us. Personally, I think we will have to play our ass off since there is no intel on their long snappah. Our former D coach will come after Murray as hard as he can since that’s the only chance he has to affect our potential. His secondary can’t do it. And he will play our O line like a drum. Then other blockers get put in and Murray can have another signature field day like he had last year?
What does Au have that they didn’t have last year? Another name for their QB that wasn’t good enough to lay until this time of the season? He may be good, but he doesn’t have anything to go with it except false confidence instilled from the NMS win. He could be a factor for Au, but I’m hoping that our D targets his ass with that 2010 dirty QB play game in mind.

I’d say the tenor of this thread isn’t “overconfident;” it’s “still angry after 2010.” Many of us didn’t intensely dislike The Barn until then; yeah, they had a tendency to cheat, but that came with the territory of sharing a state with the Big Crimson Idol. But many of us have indelibly stamped on our memory a vision of Nick Fairly running around the field after a cheap shot at Murray, with Trooper Taylor running onto the field to “restrain” him, waving that infernal towel.
Sure, some of our current players weren’t there, but I assume the older players have told them about it. Last year’s rout did not sufficiently propitiate the gods of revenge. The Dawgs should be motivated even if the game meant nothing in terms of a division title.
After another rout, we’ll be ready to make peace with the Barn and wish them well in their latest hunt for a coach.
