So, somebody clinched a division title.

Only it wasn’t Alabama.

Congrats, Dawgs. You’ve earned it.

maybe Spurrier can have another ring made for them. It’s the first time they’ve finished second two years in a row….except they came in third this year, because Florida also finished ahead of them. Whoops. Cancel that call to the jewelry store!!!!!!!!!!!!

83-7 over last two years is a nice start towards some revenge for 2010.

Well done, Dawgs. Who’s that coming down the tracks?

Chizik gone for sure now. Likely VanGorder too. Best case for UGA. The future of playing him yearly scared me.

This is 2007 all over again. I’ll take it.

Slabaach speaking at Macon TD Club says Van Gorder has a 750K buyout. Slabaach also says Kirby Smart possible to Arky or USCe if SOS retires. Rather have it be Arky.

Heard one rumour of Tuberville to Arky, with Tressel to UT.

In other news, who’d have thought Vandy had a chance to be 5-3/8-4? If they win nine games you have to think Franklin will start getting some attention from the big boys.

Coach P*ssAnt doesn’t strike me as someone beholden by a sense of strict loyalty. I gotta believe he’ll be out of Nashville if something more lucrative comes available. Maybe he will even wander back to Maryland and coach the Turtles after Edsall hollows that team out.

For some reason I am just not scared of Kirby Smart. My perspective is that Saban really runs the show over there. Smart may be a good coach and I am sure he has learned a lot from Nick, but he really isn’t a proven commodity at this point especially has a HC.

That was the most satisfying road win in a long, long time.

Beating the absolute dogshit out of this Auburn team was pure joy and I’m glad I was there to see it in person. Got a great video of the stadium emptying out during the beginning of the 4th.

Auburn sucks on an epic level. Our defense sleepwalked and still pitched a shut out. Wallace looks like he’s going to be a good player down the road. The offense just flat embarrassed Van Gorder.

Mark Richt has lost control of the negative commenters

Per negative commenters. They were on the game day thread post victory celebration. One complained several times about the loss to uSC the other whined about how we haven’t won a big game consistently. Minutes! After! the Game! was Won! too. It’s almost as if they just couldn’t stand prosperity. I remember a cartoon video that we use watch with the boys when they were kids. There was this evil force that sucked the joy and happiness from the land. Silly memory for a football blog to be sure . But that is what I thought of when I read their posts.

You should have heard the fool standing one section over from me who was screaming his head off about taking a time out on that 3rd and 20.
I know he always has the perfect 3rd and 20 play ready to call when he is playing Madden, but this is real life….
P.S. hope the Bobo haters give him some dap, since the run up the middle on 3rd and long WORKED!

“Over the last four years, Auburn has, by all accounts, out-recruited the Bulldogs”? Really? I must have missed the nine NFL players on AU’s defense and the top QB in the conference, the top rusher in the conference, and those deep threats at WR on the offense over on the AU sideline. They’re just waiting in the wings for their chance, I guess.

This may be the first time I’ve ever read an account from a non-UGA source that contends that Mark Richt is a great coach and a mediocre recruiter.

Josh Moon is Bradley/Shultz Lite. Truthfully, he’s fortunate go be employed. He only spouts what he hears and reads about football programs other than Bama and AU. He has said on air that he doesn’t watch a lot of games. But, he knows a stinker of an Auburn team when he sees one!

Yeah, I also thought that was a bunch of bull. We have had excellent recruiting classes the past few years and it is such a subjective enterprise to rank recruiting classes in the first place.

“If an opponent ever employs a 14-step QB drop, these defensive ends will be all over it.” Is this anger or acceptance (or angry acceptance)?

    Congrats, Georgia fans.

Football is a funny game. Sometimes a team with 3 SEC losses can win a division and sometimes a team with only one SEC loss will lose a division. Oh Well. Now that Bama is no longer invincible, UGA has a real chance to win the SEC and maybe even more.

    Good luck.

Given where we both are now compared to the offseason, I’d say Georgia is about where we hoped (though we took a different path than expected), and I’d say Florida slightly over-performed, though in the way I’d have expected (strong defense, weak offense). Boom and Pease did a pretty good job of keeping their offense in check so that they couldn’t lose games, with the notable exception of our game. Their defense was about as expected, very strong.

Okay, just a little Gator snark. I was listening to the Florida broadcast on satellite radio and twice in about 10 minutes heard the announcers refer to some Gator superlative “since 1990” (“…the most whatever by a Gator team since 1990”, “…the Gators haven’t had this whatever happen since 1990”). I guess they really do think their football history started when Spurrier came to town. 🙂

the Gators keep time by noting “After Steve Spurrier,” or A.S.S. Previous to 1990 was before ASS, but their recorded history really begins with an ASSterisk.

Here’s hoping Spurrier enjoys coming in third in the East again. That has to be about the third best SEC East finish in their history, doesnt it?

Florida exceeded my expectations. As bad as the offense has become, I expected it to be that bad all year. The fact that Florida is 9-1 is due to a defense that is better than a good defense from last year, great special teams and an offense that does not turn the ball over very much (the UGA game being the notable exception.)

I would rather suffer a sharp stick in the eye than lose to UGA. But overall I am very leased with the way the year went.

What are the odds UGA and ND play for the national championship in the Sugar Bowl 32 years after the first time they did?

    Like

  16. Uglydawg

Watching ND is like watching a whole different speed of the sport. There’s no way they beat most SEC teams or, as far as that goes, most Southern teams. I mean it…they were lucky as hell to win against PITT. They are lucky and they get a lot of ref and media help. I hope they play an SEC team in a bowl. ND in the BCS is proof of what we always said…some would vote them in if they didn’t field a team. I pray Georgia, Bama, or LSU or SC draws them for a bowl opponent. What would Granny Holtz do if ND played SC? Wow!

    Like

    • Mayor of Dawgtown

While we’re on the subject of ND, they really didn’t beat Stanford. The Stanford back scored the tying TD but the incompetent/crooked refs just didn’t put up their hands and the worthless turd in the TV booth refused to overturn the obviously incorrect call.

    • Mayor of Dawgtown

P.S. I just don’t get Holtz at all. He got runnoft from both ND and USCe and yet he has his nose so far up their collective asses that you can’t see his face. If the guy had one ounce of self-respect he would STFU about them instead of being a shill for both of them.

I would also bet that ND would lose to Clemson, Florida State, and possibly Duke and Ga. Tech.
