SOD, we hardly knew ‘ye.

VolQuest is reporting that Derek Dooley’s fate at UT has moved from the if to when stage.  No big surprise there after yesterday’s loss.

At least his folks will be able to show up at Sanford Stadium unconflicted again.

    There may be a reason they decided not to even attempt to get in field goal range at the end of regulation but I don’t know what it could have been. I would have washed my hands of him at that point win or lose.

    I think he realized he had sealed his doom at that point. On the other hand, he’ll be leaving with more $$$ than most of us can even dream about, and he’ll never have to wear orange pants again. He’s proabably relieved.

    Actually, I think we know SOD pretty well. I think the UT fans probably think they know him pretty well too.

    Babs can give that gaudy orange wardrobe she’s collected the last coupla years to Goodwill now. Not sure if I want her back to Bulldawg Nation tho, after some of the comments she’s made the last 3 years… 😉

      Agree, and I assign zero fault for wanting wanting her son to do well and achieve his goals. But to wear orange into the box at Sanford (which only is available to her because of Vince’s UGA affiliation) was spitting in everybody’s face. I don’t forgive her for that, no excuse for a Southern woman to act that tacky. It shouldn’t be necessary to post a dress code for people that sit there, sit in the damned TN visitor section of the stadium with that getup on.

      I would pay for the gas for she and SOD to burn their orange duds but she cannot be forgiven for acting like that. Sorry Vince has to endure her acting like a reality show wannabe.

        Now Mac….be nice. She is a great Southern Woman, who just got a little carried away because of her baby boy. Although, I love my baby boy, I would have to issue her a fashion ticket on the orange stuff.

          Nay, nay. No excuse for being rude. Pull for her baby boy but state how difficult it is to never wish UGA well. And say if he has to have a loss it would be better of UGA did it. But make a decision, you want to wear to orange, you sit with the kind of people that think that is appropriate….and that isn’t in the UGA boxes at Sanford. No excuse joy, bad form no matter how you try to spin it.

            For the years she was the social glue that helped Vince and UGA go forward, for entertaining in their home after games, with countless friends at UGA and in Athens, I forgive her one time of matching her active coaching son’s school color. We don’t need any fake juice vs Barbara in order to take on Tenn every year.

            She has done too much for my school and hasn’t sat around taking credit for it. It goes all the way back to mid 60s. Barbara, you do what you want to. You have earned that through your loyalty of nearly 50 years at UGA.

      Babs is pretty shrewd. She is also a playa. She gave the VOL NATION “hope and change” and there really was nothing there to back the currency she was peddling. At the end of the day Precious comes home to momma a very wealthy man. Game. Set. Match. She is still privy to the legend that is Vince. Her dress code will soon be forgotten. She will still have that AC running per view on game day at the hedges.
      Well played Barbara. The furniture upgrade was over priced though.

    After the “Snyder experiment” at K State, you gotta wonder if they will look in the ample direction of Fulmer. He still casts a very big shadow across Volunteer football. He’s still a big man on campus. He thinks big. Huge appetite for success….stop me before I hurt myself.

      I wouldn’t be surprised if Cutcliff or Chavis are considered. They were the reason the Vols were successful.

        Cutcliffe would be a good hire for them, IMO. I’d obviously rather them hire someone terrible, but what can ya do?

        That makes 4 SEC jobs open next year: Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, and, almost definitely, Auburn. After Bama beats them 30+-0 like we did, he’ll get run out of town.

          I’d not mind the installation of Cutcliffe. I doubt he could see out even 6 years what with his age and admittedly shaky constitution, and it appears that UT will take at least two full years to crawl back to respectability after what SOD left them. I also guess Chavis is a coordinator-for-life personality and is plenty comfy with what he can work with on the Bayou.

            The folks in Baton Rouge will happily pay Chavis a million+ I assume. His agent will make sure to get his name out enough to get that raise. He’s doing a great job down there and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

        I heard rumors when SOD was hired that Cutcliffe was approached by UT and turned them down because of the way they treated his friend Phil Fulmer. Now that some time has passed, who knows, though?

    Let’s just say it would be a big surprise if Fulmer handed such large reclamation project that is Tennessee football right now. And closing such an enormous gap between UTK and the behemoths of the SEC and their buffet of great teams would certainly increase the girth of the challenge exponentially.

    Rats….just when I had gotten in the copyright on the new trademark name for UT vs Bama’s Third Saturday in October: Precious vs, Process. O well.,,

    I don’t know why UT has such an obsession about Gruden…did he, like, stop by the Knoxville Dairy Queen for takeout when he was passing through 20 or 30 years ago? BUT, they obviously do. Delusional to think he gives up a cushy gig as he has for a reclamation project at the college level..

    In my opinion, Charlie Strong would be the next bona-fide serious candidate for an SEC HC vacancy. Also Gary Patterson. Gus Malzahn too (so long as he makes sure that his Missus doesn’t miss her meds). Bobby Petrino already has a great big SOLD! stamped on his rear end, courtesy of Bobby Lowder and the Auburn Athletic Dept. Perfect institutional match for him. Harder to tell amongst candidates at the Co-ordinator or position coach level. But Tennessee, AU, and Arkie will all have new HCs a year from now. It will be very interesting to see the dominoes that fall from these new hires.

    With Auburn and Tennessee smarting, Georgia winning the East and making it two in a row over the Gators…with Muschamp doing another Jack Nickleson imitation on national t.v…and with the less than spectacular aura of playing in the ACC …CMR and company should be able to really rack up on the Dawgs needs during the next couple of recruiting classes. It’s time to fattten up!

          We are going to sign 33-34 kids this year, most of whom are 3-4* guys (mostly 4*) and we are in play for Montravious Adams (5* DT), Laramy Tunsil (5* OT), and several other top shelf recruits. If we sign what and who I think we will this year then the Dawgs are going to be LOADED for the next 3-4 years at least.

      Related, it has me hoping that unless the Dawgs go to the MNC game, no SEC team goes. Bama playing for another title only hurts us, recruiting-wise.

    Auburn talk radio was going on and on about Jeff Fisher heading to the plains. Gruden isnt going to UT and Fisher isnt going to Auburn.
