The OBC waxes philosophical:
“They were a good team that just had a bad night, a terrible night, and we played probably our top game of the year,” South Carolina coach Steve Spurrier said Sunday. “Sometimes it can go like that, but they regrouped, so give Coach Richt, his staff and players some credit. They’ve won them all since they left here.
“Their schedule was favorable, but that’s the way it is sometimes. They beat Florida, which was a huge game, and they’re the Eastern Division champs again. It’s very similar to last year. We’re 6-2 two years in a row without winning the division, and we beat the winner.”
Cheer up, Coach. You’ve got Georgia in September again next season, so the player suspension jokes get a new lease on life.
Well, he’s right. They did beat Georgia, and soundly. It was annoying to hear him and South Carolina fans chirp about it last year, because Georgia should have won that game. This year, we were never in the game with them. He gives us credit for being a good team that had a terrible night, which I appreciate. He didn’t even have to do that much for us. At least this year he doesn’t get to claim that his team deserved the title game berth because they beat the entire rest of the Eastern Division.
Go Clemson.

I never thought I’d be ok with that loss. But after reading that… I kind of am.

This is still Georgia obsessed Steve Spurrier. He’s trying a little too hard to be gracious.

You can hear his teeth grinding down to the roots just reading that excerpt.

He is still alive and breathing but already “Turning over is his grave” every time UGA wins. LOL, SO SWEET.

any word on the design for the rings he’s having made for South Carolina this year? May I suggest “Back to back 6-2 seasons in the SEC East”? Sure, that was good for third place in the East, but that’s probably good for some kind of record in the storied annals of South Carolina football. I just hope he remembers to bring the juice boxes and fruit rollups to pass out after their game with Clemson. Thanks for playing, Steve!!!!!!!

He has to get right over to their Championship Horse Rider Equestian Team since that’s the only championship they have in their trophy case…..wait….isn’t UGA the Champions in that area now? Poor bastard.
Yeah, having the SC loss as the only one really does feel good now. The angst Spurrier must have when looking at the irreversible 6-2 and knowing that we are going to the SEC in his(he thinks) place is worth it. Knowing that he will stew all summer is even better.

Let’s not go to other sports Ballsy. USCe won the College World Series 2 years in a row and was runner-up this past year. UGA baseball? Well………

Please, somebody with more insight than me…how do you see these teams matching up in September?
If Murray comes back, will it not be HUGE?

Can’t call what you’ll get from me “insight” per se, but that matchup strikes me as much more like ’11 (45-42) than the fiasco we witnessed this year. Both sides lose large numbers off their defenses while the two returning QBs (Murray returns!) will be the best in the league. And Gurshall.
Also, @ Home for UGa with the historical anomaly of having lost 3 straight to those Birds adds up to serious motivation for the new crop of Pups.
Since I’m already speculating on UGa v. Tahd, why not string out the fortune telling another nine months.

As much as I hate Spurrier, I feel like he’s giving us a big compliment here and it gives me a little more respect for the man.

I agree. If it wasn’t Spurrier making the comment, I’d say it was very gracious and complimentary. So I’ll just take it at face value and say thanks, Coach.

He has to back off on our schedule being easy because next year he has the sane type of schedule we do this year.

I wonder if Spurrier is starting to get his talking points in order for 2014 when they transition to Texas A&M as their cross-division rival.

well,it’s good to hear Spurrier give the Dogs even a little credit..especially when he would rather beat UGA than eat when he’s hungry.

Spurrier must think that their losses in the East don’t count against them, that or he can’t figure out how they finished third in the east. How does he think that our schedule was favorable to us ? Look at their schedule, LSU only beat Arrbarn by 2 points, then Arky that was a walk-over, so what was hard about their schedule? NOTHING they are using it as an excuse because they lost to Flur dah. maybe Surrier should retire an go scare little children, A$$HOLE. I’m just sayin. GATA “GO DAWGS”

SS is an excellent football coach. Other than that I don’t care what he thinks anymore. His snarks, as well as his backhanded compliments, are stale.
I just wish the Dawgs could beat him.

Pre-Spurrier, South Carolina was a team that only cared about beating Georgia in its annual Super Bowl. They usually wouldn’t. Then they’d blow it against other teams and finish the season an afterthought.
Spurrier’s gotten USC to beat Georgia. Everything else? Entirely the same.
No one cares about your trolling, OBC. Enjoy watching the SECCG on TV. Again.

Much better verse than the one he was embarrassing himself with by singing since last year. It was pitiful to see how far he had fallen from his FU days. He really needs to get off that schedule thing though, it’s the SEC man and things ebb and flow every single season. UGA had the best team last year and SC was the better matchup this season, but a season has never been about one night/game. He has accomplished one thing, SC is now the 3rd best team in the East, as he has improved SC and TN has done a header. In his, and my, lifetime that is about as much as he can expect to see in Columbia. Baseball school, that is all. Good time for him to head for the pasture, he is letting his rep deterioate by hanging on and making statements that are zany, and having to compromise his integrity to keep players on the field.

The SOS logical extension of his whining goes like this…the division champ should be the team that beats the division champ, even if your record is 1 – 6.
And PLEASE don’t think Spurrier was being nice…the entire pitch was just a set-up for his whining about his division record.
I really do wish we’d take-up a collection to send him a ticket to the SECCG.
