Wednesday morning buffet

No turkey on this buffet line:

  • This is an actual clause in Urban Meyer’s contract:  “The Meyer family will consider Kroger their supermarket of choice.”  Awesome.
  • Scott Albrecht games out the national title game probabilities here.
  • When it comes to the SEC, KC Joyner is the man who uses stats to show he’s wrong about everything, so take this with a big ol’ grain of salt.
  • If you were wondering where Tennessee was going to come up with the jack to hire its next head coach (and I never was), worry no more.
  • “… not to downplay the Georgias of the world…”, but Scot Loeffler thinks Alabama has the best defense Auburn will face this season.  I guess that means the Tide will hold his offense to negative points this Saturday.
  • You know the OBC enjoyed the hell out of this interview.
  • Probably as much as I enjoyed this quote from Tavarres King about Georgia’s chances after the South Carolina game:  “I didn’t really think it was over. We had a lot of football left to play. There were six more regular-season games at the time. So I didn’t really think it was over then. Historically, South Carolina’s due to lose a few, so I wasn’t worried about it.”
  • Jim Delany blames the latest round of Big Ten expansion on the Pac-12’s decision to back out on their scheduling deal.  Yeah, that’s it.  That’s the ticket.

“Most of this money has been used for scholarships and fellowships. We will continue to honor these commitments, primarily through private gifts. Let me emphasize, we will not reduce our commitment to students.”

I think I know which “students” he’s talking about.

ND picks the ACC over the B1G. Pac12 cancels its schedule agreement with the B1G. OH State’s undefeated team is on probation and getting little media attention. You just had to bring in MD and Rutgers to “keep pace” w/SEC’ addition of TX A&M and Mizzou

This year, I guess Delaney should just be thankful he’s not the Big East commish.

I’ve got some Tennessee faithful mixed in with the In-law crowd. The “certain” inside knowledge of them hiring Gruden with the Zooker as D Coordinator gets old longgg before the 15 minute “proof” is over.

Someone with a crystal ball please tell us what entertainment content delivery will look like in 5-10 years. Will cable still be the system of choice? How will subscribers watch? Where does the industry seem to be headed?

All I really watch is sports–>this is a sports blog–>this is relevent

I understand the world, technologically speaking, will be suprisingly different than whatever we can conjure up. That said, the infrastructure is not there to increase internet speeds high enough to overtake cable. And I don’t see widespread, whole-sale improvement anytime in the near future.

As for some other option, anything satelite based would likely be considered close enough in delivery to still leave it in the cable category.

Just my thoughts. Delaney still doesn’t know what he is doing.

Bone-in ribeyes on sale every 5th week, this was one of them. I make the trip to Publix and buy a month+ worth because we don’t have a Publix near us, and most supermarkets doen’t have that cut regularly. Getting them cut as a steak for two size turns it into a Bone’s type experience. I doubt Mrs. Meyer is prohibited from visiting a Fresh Market type store but it is interesting to see that Ohio State needed help from Kroger for that contract badly enough to get that specific.

Yep, and there is nothing close, imo.. Don’t know why they are so hard to find in grocery stores. I get mine just under a pound and a half each , makes it easier to cook and is more tender. About perfect for Mrs. Mac and I, of course I get well over my “fair share”..

Been a Fresh Market fan since I lived in NC and they first started up, but it is much further than Publix for me so I don’t get to them as often. Great store though, brilliant concept, loved the business model when I saw their first store.

              • There’s a butcher in every Publix. Call the store ask for the Master Butcher. Find out who he is and what he likes. You will then get familiar with when certain meats come in. He will call you when he knows of a shipment of something you want. I do that with Butchers around Easter and have my Lamb cut just the way I want it!

Careful, I thought highly of Angelo. Bruno’s was fine before the takeover. Plus, I doubt anyone is going to tell Saban where to shop (nor will they make him pay in Alabama). In the North Ga mountains he isn’t much liked as a shopper, his foreskin showing is offensive to the good folk.

Call them friends. Italians are the most moral people I have had the privilege to know. I lived in Italy for over 10 months and found them to fit the high morality/ religious tier that I held for my Italian friends (most in Chicago) in the U.S.. Their intelligence level rivals the intelligent Polish that I’ve known and befriended (Most of them are PhDs or Masters level). Those friends have the greatest self-deprecating humor concerning ethnic jokes at their expense that I have ever laughed with.

My Polish neighbor asked why I selected to move next door. I told him it was because I knew how to pronounce his name on his mailbox and decided he was the perfect neighbor although he is a Miami fan (where he used to live). I think you might understand why I also would like him to be honored at one of our home games with Tech. His name is Piontec, pronounced “pee-on-tech”. I would love to see it on the Jumbotron and hear it pronounced over and over on the loudspeaker.. Of course my other dream is to have the “n” on the EverBank field sign plastered over by an “r”. It is more fitting after this last game than ever before.

Kroger’s going to be stuck with a former bag boy from a rival chain in the next few years when Corch gets tired of shopping there and starts ordering groceries online so he can spend more time with his family.

Just emerged from my visit to my specialist down in Gainesville yesterday. Had a similar experience when the FU fans saw my hat, except there wasn’t any smack talk. It was nice to notice that their conversation never approached last year’s remarks of “congratulations” like you are a red-headed stepchild who lucked into it. Forgot to tell them that I was cheering for FSU this week.

Hope our game on the 1st leaves everyone healthy from both sides, but if there are any injuries they will be from honest licks, not diving at the knees like our opponents this week will try. Personally, I see our game with Bama as one of the finest CFB games of the year. Some of us haven’t forgotten the concerns that Saban had in our last game, where at halftime, he preached that the Dawgs were capable of coming back from the huge halftime deficit and he was nearly proved prophetic. That smacked of respect. The quality of these two teams will stand out in this game and it will feel like old time SEC football. The only difference is the old “3yds and a cloud of dust” will become “10yds and a cloud of dust” that these offenses are capable of placing on the field.

These coaches are 1-1 facing each other in the SEC. May the best team win to go on and defend the SEC NC. Go Dawgs!

Delany-ESPN has given the Big 10(14?) more lucrative contracts than the 6-yr running NC SEC. Who really is the culprit here? ESPN for subsidizing a bad market (comparatively speaking) or Delany for taking their money? I think that ESPN’s contracts/offers drive this whole train and if anyone is to be blamed for tinkering with the fan’s passion for their schools, it’s them.

Bluto, thanks for the detailed and lucid presentation of your deep angst about money ruining CFB. Personally, I think fans loyal to their schools and schools themselves will control this ship if it begins to list and that our passions will persist, although we have differed slightly on the subject before.

The stat chart. I liked it, but couldn’t quite understand why a UGA/ Ore matchup is in two places at 7th and 8th possibilities. Why doesn’t that possibility add up as one % figure rather than two?

Tenn is going to rachet up recruiting by selling the school’s image as high class moreso than competing in recruiting using the coaches, whomever they may be. That’s a hell of an answer to a perceived coaching hiatus proble; just throw money at it.

Gee, I wonder if Steve feels his sympathy for Tenn’s recruiting problems will turn inward after SC’s CB decommitted and recommitted to us? By the way, does anyone get the feeling that a few big uncommitsare secretly committed to UGA? Or that we could get a few more high value players from Tenn and Aub?
