He didn’t win the game, but he kicked ass in the presser.

If you’ve ever wanted to hear Mark Richt tell Chuck Oliver to eff off in so many words, dial this bad boy up to the 13:20 mark, sit back and enjoy.

  1. I wish he would have given him the finger.

  2. Lord he hates that. I just want to hold him.

  3. Wilcodawg

I would have missed this if not for you – thanks for the smile on an evening that is, well, less fun than it might have been. As we say in SC, “Dang”.

  4. DawgPhan

    yeah really…thanks for that you.

  5. Turd Ferguson

    Not Murray’s fault at all.

  6. charlottedawg

As someone who’s’ criticized Murray for not playing well in big games, he played awesome tonight.

    • WT

Ditto, CD. I for one will admit I have thrown some verbal tomatoes at Murray and others. But not really tonight. (and, though I heard it from stupid Mark May, not for the USC game — that was not on him). He played darn well for what he had to deal with, and made several big throws in clutch situations. Did he make all of them? Did he play perfectly? No. But I am proud of his effort and know he wanted it more than any of us sideline observers could… Go Dawgs!

    • gastr1

      +1. He was a gamer.

  7. defactodawg

Weary grows the mind from listening to these no talent ass clowns who pretend to be experts who have their finger on the pulse of the ‘people.’ Notice the chickenshit didn’t have the balls to straight up ask the question. FOAD Chuck Oliver. you and everybody that looks and acts like you.

  8. Brandon

That was great, what a twerp.

  9. JC

Not that I already didn’t know it, but now whenever I hear C.O’s name, I’ll think “Chicken shit”. When he was called out, he cowered.

    • ChicagoDawg

Exactly. It was a chicken shit question and CMR wasn’t having it. He pants’d him in front of the national media. Well done coach.

  10. SCDawg

It’s late and I’m drunk, but fuck that question.

  11. Beer Money

Yes, every day “people” say this, Chuck, dipshit. War Eagle.

  12. JaxDawg

“I’ll see you next year you fucking cocksucker”.

    Does that work, chuck oliver?

  13. What a first class response to a sleazy, cheap question. I would make comments about Chuck Oliver here, but I would appear sleazy and cheap.

  14. defactodawg

and there was more. Richt returned to the dais and said “if anybody thinks Aaron Murray and our team didn’t play their tails off, they’re crazy.”

  15. Normaltown Mike

Good for Coach. I can’t stand when interviewers try to prove how smart they are with a question. Just ask the damn question.

  16. Steve

CMR remarks to the question was right on but I thought the last play was a backdoor to Mitchell and not a fade.

  17. Russ

Just came here to see who the dipshit was that asked that question. Glad Richt called him out like that. I think he should’ve called Tree and Lynch in to field the question – in private.

  18. Careful Brad

What a douche. This ain’t South Gwinnett, Oliver. He has talked crap about Richt and Murray for the past two years and now the national media is laughing at him. Go win another radio contest.

  19. david

yea GTP..sure u are proud of the presser. u are part of the problem.i am a dawg fan but support chuck. 10-2 8-5 9-3 that is fine with u

    • HVL Dawg

Go put your Georgia Southern hat back on.

    • ChicagoDawg

Thanks for dropping by Chuck…err… “david”

      • david

can any sane person support richt on this? the guy probably has on IQ of 40. but we can be 8-4 next year enough to keep richt employed. but if we are happy with that then we just say it. if we want to win championships then we change course. it is not that difficult to understand.

        • Cosmic Dawg

Exhausted with you people, I really am. Actually embarrassed is a better word. We are ELEVEN and TWO and missed playing in the national championship game by three yards or maybe twenty seconds, depending on how you look at it. Richt has kept this program competitive with the best in cfb for twelve years, while other programs have major ebbs and flows. You are judging the man on the standard he helped create by his own efforts.

          • david

dunbass, if our goal is to be “competitive” then we have the right guy. but if we want to win championships then can richt do it? Chuck Olivers question was legit. we have to make up our mind……goddam this is not difficult

            • What fresh hell is this?

              Go fuck yourself

            • gastr1

Tonight’s game should have been all you needed to see to convince you that he CAN do it. We lost only by dumb blind LUCK because we were 100% the equal of the best team in the country, a team that takes no plays off and plays with an iron will. And Mark Richt’s team and Mark Richt’s coaches were every bit the equal of that bunch.

Anyone who cannot see how far this program has come in only two years–and that it is absolutely on top and ready for more– has their head up Steve’s Spurrier’s ass. Or someone’s, I don’t know whose.

            • sUGArdaddy

David, I’ll say it. We’re all sad and tired tonight. You know nothing, and I mean NOTHING, about football.

You name me the guy that will guarantee 14-0 every year and I’ll pay an extra $10 per ticket. You mean you can’t guarantee it? We’ve got one of the top 5-10 coaches in America that is 8-4 vs UT, 8-4 vs auburn, 11-1 vs tech and in a 2 yr streak in jax.

Your idiocy has led us to not ever listen again to anything you ever say. Sorry. Them’s the breaks.

We play with honor now, and it’s going to get better.

            • Russ

Please crawl back in your hole.

        • IndyDawg

I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you’re in a drunken state that clouds your better senses and you will regret what you’ve written when you sober up. But if not: You are a shining example of the worst “fan” and please find another team to support, prefereably outside of college football.

    • Careful Brad

Yep, a play away from a national championship and a second straight SEC Championship game is unacceptable, just leave because you are part of the problem. Sports and Grits will have your back.

    • Dawgfan Will

You’re dumb and your grammar sucks.

    • twistification

No you are not a dawg fan. Want a new coach? Fine, pull for Auburn, Kentucky, or Tennessee. They are looking. I’m sure they’ll find the new Saban that you can root for.

  20. almightytmc1

What I really liked was the look CMR gave that said, “I would tell you to kiss my ass, but you arent worthy of me wiping my tale on you.”

  21. Mayor of Dawgtown

I don’t like Chuck Oliver. He is a dweeb. Plus it was a chickenshit way he phrased the question. That said, and leaving Murray out of it because he played his ass off tonight and this problem predates Murray at QB, the question of why UGA under CMR self destructs at the end of games when they are just about to win the game is a legitimate question. More important–who is making these decisions that backfire all the time? Whoever it is (Bobo, CMR himself, somebody else) needs to NOT be allowed to make end of game decisions any more.

    • Russ

No self-destruction tonight. Time ran out. 80+ yards with no timeouts against the #1 team in the country is pretty damn good, and it was one tipped ball away from a fantastic comeback.

    • Biggus Rickus

So you want to either fire Bobo or Richt, because those are the head coach and offensive coordinator, and they will make end of game decisions as long as they’re employed. And what the hell are these decisions that backfire all the time? This game, Michigan State and…that’s it. Georgia’s losses from 2006 to now were generally not close enough for a call to backfire. So you, who were lecturing others when they wanted to fire Richt after “one game” want to do the same for two completely different decisions a year apart?

      • Mayor of Dawgtown

It’s not just 2 games BR. Look at the end of the 2010 Arkansas game, the 2010 Colorado game, the 2010 Florida game, the 2009 LSU game. That’s 6 games in the last 3 years, counting the 2 I mentioned above and there are others. I don’t want to fire anybody. I want our coaching staff to figure out what it is doing wrong at the end of close games that causes the Dawgs to lose rather than win those games and then take action to correct the problem. I had hoped this year that the problem had been fixed but last night demonstrates that it has not. Maybe we have to get a “consultant” like to figure this out. But first, the HC and everybody else needs to quit being in denial and admit that the problem exists.

        • Biggus Rickus

Holy shit. There are like 18 different scenarios involved in those losses. Every close loss and close win isn’t always the coaches’ fault/to the coaches’ credit. NOBODY wins every close game they play.

To run through those games, the 2010 Arkansas game saw Georgia rally from 14 down, get the ball back and not score. Arkansas eventually scored the winning touchdown against Georgia’s bad defense. 2010 Colorado ended because of a blown blocking assignment by a guy who repeatedly blew blocking assignments that caused a fumble. 2010 Florida ended when Murray forced a pass into coverage. 2009 LSU ended because a terrible penalty set LSU up with good field position and the defense couldn’t make a play. One of those, if I’m being generous, had anything to do with end of game decisions. I think we all want Georgia to win every game, but that’s not realistic. You’re just as bad as the people who wanted to fire Richt immediately after the South Carolina game.

    • 79Dawg

Maybe we should have the coaching staff follow you performing your job for 12 weeks every year, observe your ability to execute perfectly everytime you are stressed, and then they will KNOW how keep their cool and execute next time we’re in a high pressure situation… LOLzzz

      • Mayor of Dawgtown

79, don’t go there. You don’t know what I do. I have a high pressure job where I have to execute perfectly or others are negatively effected in a big way and professional people scrutinize everything I do. All you are doing in your post is excusing bad decision making because “it’s soooo hard.” Getting it right is what they are supposed to do. This end of game f#ck-up last night ruined a great effort by an entire team and robbed the team of a chance to win the BCSNC.If ever there has been something that should be looked at closely in the UGA football program this is it.

        • Metal Steel Chair

” I have a high pressure job where I have to execute perfectly or others are negatively effected in a big way and professional people scrutinize everything I do.”

Except spelling choices, clearly. I can’t believe that Mayor of Dawgtown could come on this string and rob us of the chance to hear his masterful take on the game because of imperfect execution and not knowing something as basic as the difference between “effected” and “affected.” My God, my 4th grader knows that. It is inexcuseable, and if ever there has been something to be looked at closely on GTP, this is it. Time for him to go! Maybe we should get a consultant or something to make him realize that he is a problem and he needs to realize it.

          Fickle clod.

  22. NewnanDawg

Mark Richt has lost control of Mark Richt in the post game presser! Oh the humanity!

  23. Hahahahahahahahaha.

What a craven piece of shit who isn’t even willing to ask the question himself.

CMR gave him a chance to man up: “If that’s what YOU say, then I’ll answer your question.”

    *** crickets ***

*** sound of Chuck Oliver’s testicles sucking all the way into his asshole ***

    What a craven, asshole, pussy.

  24. almightytmc1

Geez, Mark Richt is one of the winningest coaches in history. Does anyone out there actually think they can get rid of him and find something better? Its not like UGA lost to Western New Mexico Tech Jr. College out here. Nick Saban is a good coach and Bama has had 5 recruiting classes ranked in the top 5 nationally.
Maybe Oliver should be thankful that through Richt’s hard work and guidance UGA made it to the SECCG. Yes they are very talented. So is Auburn. And anyone can see the difference there is the coaching.

  25. Debby Balcer

What a classy way to answer a classless question. GO DAWGS!!

  26. AmpedDawg

Man. King is rightfully getting his ass kicked. Good. It was a BS question and I have not problem with that. But I’m glad he is getting killed for not being man enough to own up to what he was asking.

    • david

what is BS about Olivers question? Will richt take responsibility for his ineptness? hell no.

      • AmpedDawg

My apologies. I have no problem with the question. But if you ask THAT question and the coach won’t answer it unless you own up to asking it yourself and you back down then you are a giant wuss. You can call the end of tonight’s game ineptitude. Fine. They though they might catch a break by not allowing subs and the second worst thing behind an INT happened. Choice turned out to not work out. But it wasn’t the totally wrong decision hands down.

      • almightytmc1

Richt is a good coach. Want to see inept? Look at Lee County Alabama. The Auburn people would love for Richt to quit at Georgia. He would become the first coach in the NCAA to make $10 million a year if they thought they could get him.

      • Normaltown Mike

Chuck & David want to say that CMR can’t win the big game:

Was clinching the SEC over Auburn in 02 “winning a big game”?
Was curb stomping LSU in the 05 SECCG “winning a big game”?
Was beating undefeated and higher ranked UF this year “winning a big game”?

By the same token, Chuck spent all this week dogging AM as if Georgia has been knocking on the doorsteps of a MNC these past 3 seasons but for AM. Why is beating UF this year or last not count for AM?

Maybe Chuck has a sad cuz AM has so dominated Awbern two years in a row.

      • Then why didn’t Chuck “Nutless” Oliver have the balls to ask the question?

  27. TennesseeDawg

    Douchbaggery

  28. I Love this team!

    DGDGDGDGDGDGDGDGDGDGDGDGDGDGDGDGDG

Love the way he’s been treating the Press’ stupid questions as of late. Good for him.

  29. HVL Dawg

If you get a chance to see the longer version of the press conference, check it out. Richt walks in and there’s a couple bottles of water and Gatorade on the table and Richt picks them up and dumps them on the floor under the table before he sits down. The SEC hack grabs his arm and tries to stop Richt by saying something like “these are for Saban” but Rich shoves them onto the floor and sits down. Richt then carefully places his can of CocaCola that he brought in on the table and adjusts it so that the script is in plan view of the cameras. Interesting what these coaches deal with.

I know it’s not football, but it wasn’t an accident.

  30. Cosmic Dawg

I don’t agree. Chuck Oliver does not have to believe in the street chatter in order for him to ask a question about things our fans say. The talk on the streets IS news, and if his readers want to know something Germane to the game, then it is fair for him to ask it. That meme IS news.

The premise was true – people ARE saying that about CMR and his Murray – shoot, even on this very blog, so it IS a legit question. It is just a question about a premise that is uncomfortable and that most of us here disagree with. But CMR should not attack the messenger…

I don’t think CMR handled that very well. He should have said “Anybody who says that…” then gone into a rigorous defense of his program. If Chuck Oliver has been critical in the past, then CMR should have addressed Oliver’s previous criticism.

    • AmpedDawg

All CMR asked was that he (CO) own up to asking the question, which CO wouldn’t do. CMR said he respond to the question.

    • sUGArdaddy

You really think it’s richt’s job to care what yahoos that call into shows think? It’s gossip from people who know little about football and nothing about his program.

      • Cosmic Dawg

If he is holding a press conference, it is for the benefit of the public, which means CMR or his boss cares about the Yahoos on the street.

So yeah, I think it was an awful, but legit question.

    • Normaltown Mike

Chuck wants to have it both ways: He’s the hard-hitting journalist who asks a tough question, but he’s also the nice guy who gets good interviews with the local coaches so he’ll couch the question in a parenthetical “people say…”

Bullshit. If Chuck wants to be a journalist, ask an uncomfortable question and suffer the consequences. That female reporter that got into a tete a tete with Mike Gunday showed bigger balls than Chuck.

If you want to see a real journalist ask a tough question, watch the Whitehouse Press Corp go at it with a press secretary.

    • South FL Dawg

A swath of humanity watches games and forms opinions, but what coach would take it seriously ESPECIALLY on a night when the player called out played his heart out? Good for Richt.

      • Cosmic Dawg

That was a perfect time to pull a Les Miles and talk about your players, their heart, etc, and to defend where the program is going. Not to get into a snit about how a question was worded.

This from a big CMR fan, btw.

        • Did you happen to listen to the rest of the presser? It’s not like this was the only question and answer from it. And besides, Richt came back and did just what you suggest he should have done.

CO tweeted that he was asking a “respectful” question. After the shameless way he went after Richt over Branden Smith, he doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt.

    • Cosmic Dawg

Well, I didn’t know Oliver’s history. If he writes editorials and in the past has said CMR can’t win the big game that changes things.

I actually agree with the premise that lately CMR has lost the big game more often than he has won it, that is a fact. But that is very different than saying he “can’t”. He has proven that he can, and proven it here at Georgia.

And that doesn’t make me want to change coaches, I think he does a great job and some of these will break our way eventually. This program has come light years since the loss to UCF.

  31. Always Someone Else's Fault

As long as word on the street questions are legitimate fodder for pressers…

“Coach, word on the street is that Chuck Oliver is a #$%^&. Care to comment on that?”

  32. WH

Anyone who comes on here complaining about being a few feet/seconds away from beating arguably the best team in the country, either:

    A) Knows absolutely nothing about football and somehow thinks changing coaches magically causes the winning of championships,
    B) Will only be satisfied with winning championships, despite the reality of things like ACL tears, bad calls and the oblong ball bouncing in odd ways, or
    C) Is actually a Florida/Tech/Auburn fan trying to stir up disappointed Georgia fans and erode recruiting classes with “Fire Richt” talk.

  33. WH

If CO had restricted his question to whether or not Mark Richt could “win the big one,” I doubt he would have responded the same way. But when he chose to include Murray in the question, I think that got CMR hot and I don’t blame him. Murray played great, and anyone who thinks he didn’t IS crazy. Richt was responding to what sounded like a weasley, unjustified attack on one of his players…and I applaud him for the way he handled it.

    • Dawgfan Will

You just hit the nail on the head.

      • 79Dawg

Its ironic since Chuck spent all day Friday trying to gin up excuses as to how Coach Richt was “too nice” to win a championship…. When asked for examples, he said letting DJ Shockley go in for a series against Florida and honoring his commitments to recruits… Where I come from, that is called keeping your work, not “being nice”. Of course, Chuck is an “Auburn man” and wouldn’t know honor or character if they landed on his head….

  34. dawgy45

Chuck Oliver is a pathetic pansy. Earlier this season he questioned Coach Richt’s integrity over not suspending Branden Smith for the Buffalo game. When it was pointed out that UGA does not have a mandatory suspension policy for an arrest, did he get back on the air and set the record straight? Of course not. This time “the king” didn’t have the balls to say “yes, I say that on my show” to Coach Richt but rather lied to him instead. Nobody is happier than me to see Coach Richt publicly castrate that little chicken shit know-it-all. Good for you Coach.

    • tbia

He also insisted for months that the Chizik buyout went down 2.5 mill overnight on Dec 1. EVEN after being shown differently.

  35. Merk

    Seriously?

No one thought UGA would win this game easily. We all knew that it would require a damn near perfect game from us to beat Bama.

    McCarron: 13/21 162yds 1TD, 1 INT, 1 Fumble
    Murray: 18/33 265yds 1TD, 1 INT

Gasp, Murray had a better game than McCarron, but clearly Murray is the problem for us. Clearly it is Murray’s fault he does not have 3 NFL bound O-linemen blocking for him.

Either way, have fun hating on all the same people who gave us the shot at going to the NC game.

  36. Faulkner

We did not win, but it was satisfying none the less.
    Thanks 0.0

  37. I have an intense desire to call into CO’s show next week and ask the question “Chuck, people say you’re a pathetic excuse for a journalist. How do you respond?”

  38. As an AU fan as a kid Chuck Oliver should be both ashamed and have his *ss kicked. I’m certainly no Mirk Richt fan, but the way Oliver tried to attribute what was obviously his own opinion to what “he heard on radio every day” instead of growing a pair and coming out and saying “why do you and Aaron Murray seem to come up short in such big games?” was hack-level, bush-league crap. There is nothing wrong with that question if you have the sack to ask it on your own, but Oliver not only did not, he seemed incredulous as how Richt could call him out for pulling such a stunt during a post SEC Championship game Press Conference. I understand Georgia fans are upset at the loss tonight, but I really hope the Atlanta/Athens Sports media doesn’t let Oliver live this down. Either ask the difficult questions or don’t, Don’t try and pass the blame off while still trying to get a reaction you p*ssy.

    • Normaltown Mike

I know it will be tongue in cheek, but I’m sure Chernoff will have lots of fun at Chuck’s xpense.

      • AmpedDawg

I doubt it. I bet this won’t get mentioned very much. Considering that 680 The Fan is supposedly the home of the Georgia Bulldogs, I am guessing that there may be members of the Dickey family that aren’t real happy with the Kang right now.

If I was in the press room I would have loved to ask a question following CO.

“Coach, after watching your team, who played grown-man football and leave everything on the field, what is your impression of the douche-bag that just failed to man up and ask you what he really though?”

  41. NC Dawg

Truth is, crazies on this blog raise those very points every day. Wish they had to face Richt, too.

NOTHING TO SEE HERE……LET’S ALL MOVE ALONG.

” Chuck attended Auburn University, In 1992 Chuck was hired at South Gwinnett as defensive line coach. During his five-year tenure at South nine different linemen received scholarships, playing everywhere from Auburn to Georgia Southern, from Georgia Tech to Eastern Kentucky. Chuck can be found on Comcast as the station’s ACC football expert each season, as well as providing color commentary for the Conference USA “Game of the Week” televised each Saturday throughout the season.
Chuck currently lives in Tucker with a cat he found in a parking lot and Mike the one-eyed Golden Retriever.”

Since Joy has commented here recently and asked for advice here per t her recent struggles on the dating scene and since Chuck is alone with a cat and one eyed dog. Mark May is a total douche on CFF. He said that he thought Chuck should have asked the question in a slightly different way (2-10 against top 10 opponents since 2008) I’m actually glad Crazy Lou jumped on him after that.

    • Brian Dawg

Coach Lou actually defended Richt and Murray and he also said that Jarvis should be in the Heisman conversation. Color me shocked.

  44. Irishdawg

I would have responded with “Chuck, people say all the time that you fuck diseased farm animals. How would you respond to allegations of sick cow fucking?”

    Asshole J school hack.

  45. HiAltDawg

I really hate how this game ended but Mr. Oliver getting all this attention when CJ Mosely made a play for the ages is disappointing. I almost quit on Coach Richt after the “in the Arena” comment but any Georgia Man should cheer the Coach for standing up to a punk. How many of us have to eat humble pie in a situation like that? Also, Conley didn’t let anyone down and we’ll be proud when he catches a game winner!

  46. Mayor of Dawgtown

Let me say this as succinctly as possible: I want a coach who wins the game-not one that wins the press conference.

  47. Chuck Oliver

Seriously, why does Richt and Georgia have a problem winning the big game? How many top ten teams has he lost to now? 10…?

  48. austintwo

Coach Richt totally Alinsky’ed C-Fat on that encounter: isolate the target; freeze the target

Humiliate the target…was funny listening to 680 this morning scrupulously avoiding discussion of C-Fat’s rout….

If you listen this afternoon or anytime this week, C-Fat wins!
