Texas Tech seems to have issues with coaches.

Maybe he’ll make the full circle to Ole Miss where his pine box prophecy still has a chance to be fulfilled.

Seems like most TT fans glad to see him go.

FWIW… The Cincy AD was an associate AD at the barn while TT was there & his wife’s family lives near Cincy. Might be a coupla reasons to sweeten the pot, along with some of his issues at TT…

He did good. Reading some of the details about the Texas Tech Administrators released in the Mike Leach fiasco makes me wonder why any legitimate and sane minded coach who wasn’t in the ditch financially would work for that bunch.

Why weren’t any of the other 3 SEC schools that he didn’t coach for pursue him?

Honestly, I admit I have not been a big Tubby follower, but I’ve always had the impression he was a pretty good coach. I’m sure I could use a lot of education on the situation, though.

Yeah, I have no problem with Tubbs either. Seems like a pretty good coach from what I have seen. I liked Texas Tech until the ripoff of Leach before the bowl game. No problem with this firing someone if they want to but pay the contract monies due. They just stole that man’s money in that deal, no other way to view it, they hid behind a terrible law.

Same here, I thought Auburn was stupid to fire him, they have found out that there are worse things in the world than 3-2 wins.

This shocked me. I had no idea TT was that screwed up (even with all the Leach melodrama). Going from TT to Cincy is a real kick in the teeth to TT and the Big 12.

And, yeah, I’m surprised he didn’t get a look from one of the three SEC schools (well, okay, not Auburn). I always thought he was a decent coach, too. Two cautionary tales about firing good coaches – Auburn and UT even with Auburn’s rented MNC.

I’m not sure that the move to Cincy isn’t a good one for TT. Texas Tech is not one of the top teams in the Big 12 and never will be. Cincy, with the departure of Louisville and Rutgers, becomes the top team in the Big East and is a very attractive candidate if there is further conference expansion as it has a good football program and an outstanding basketball program. Unless the Big East completely unravels UC is in good shape where it is yet at the same time is a valuable commodity to other conferences should the need arise.

Well, there is water flowing beside Cincinnati, which is more than can be claimed by much of the country roundabout Lubbock. And Tubbs can still wrangle some OK chili there which is saying something for the goofy state if Ohio.

I just checked but couldn’t find anything definitive that he and Ark State have an agreement. There’s lots of articles regarding momentum for a deal but not sure it’s a done deal yet.
