If there’s anybody who has nothing left to prove by coming back for a final college year, it’s Jarvis Jones.

Jarvis is the only case where I actually believe that it was a really tough decision. This young man loves Georgia. If circumstances were different in terms of needs, I really believe he would have come back. He loved being a Georgia Bulldog, and he always will be one. Godspeed, Jarvis, and thanks.

Everyone else has said it well already, but thanks so much for the memories Jarvis! Cant wait to watch him terrorize NFL QB’s on Sunday. Jarvis gave absolutely everything in all his games wearing the red and black, but I will no doubt remember the ’11 and ’12 Cocktail parties as well as the Missouri game in particular.

Thank you Jarvis for your leadership and for leading by example. So many people forget how much work he did that first year on the scout team, and how they knew he would be a force to be reckoned with. Stayed when he could have left for lots of money and helped lead this team to 12-2. God Bless and thanks.

Agreed, he stayed an extra year, and represented the University very well throughout his time in Athens. Jarvis played hard and deserves our thanks. For that matter we may gripe and disagree about decisions by Coaches, and ADs but all the kids deserve our thanks.
I like his story of cleaning up his act and getting in school to even qualify for college. He has a chance for a big signing day and he knows better than most how quickly that could come to an end, which in my opinion makes it all the more amazing he came back for this year.
I wish Jarvis a long, successful career on and off the field.

I am usually against CFB players leaving early for thr NFL but this is a case where it definitely seems the right thing to do. Jarvis has already had a “near-miss” with a career ending injury so there is good reason to benefit from the courageous come back he has already enjoyed. The good work he has done in Athens will continue to bear fruit after he has gone with young players benefiting from his leadership in 2012. His work here is done; best of luck to you Big Dawg!

My aunt visits MD Anderson in Texas regularly for cancer treatments and during her last visit shortly after the SECCG she happened to be walking between buildings when she noticed some very large humans getting out of limos. It was Manti Teo (sp?), Clowney, Barrett Jones, and Jarvis there to visit with patients during there. Thankfully they were wearing their jerseys because she would have had no clue who they were as she doesn’t really follow sports. She did recognize the red UGA jersey though and approached Jarvis to ask for a picture to send to my boys. She said he couldn’t have been nicer and kindly obliged.
After she texted me the photo of the two of them I posted it on Twitter and thanked Jarvis for taking the time to meet with my aunt. Obviously Jarvis doesn’t follow me on Twitter but he replied back minutes after saying it was no problem and great meeting her adding what a nice lady she was. What a classy kid. Not only was he gracious when meeting her but most would not bother responding to a random Twitter mention. I have a lot of respect for him.
I wish Jarvis the best and believe he will succeed at whatever he does in life as he has a good head on his shoulders and a kind heart.

Nothing against D. Pollack, but Jarvis is my favorite defensive player in the Richt era. I loved the way he never brought attention to himself with anything other than his play. I was especially fond of how he would destroy a ball carrier/quarterback/would-be blocker, and then extend a hand to help the guy up. He embodied everything that is good about college athletics and those of us who know his story are obligated to imagine that his brother is looking down on him with a smile and filled with pride. DGD.

I don’t have any stories of personal encounters with JJ but my best memories most certainly will be the way he destroyed the hated gators. This year was particularly sweet as I told all my disbelieving friends that we were gonna beat those a-holes if JJ was healthy and by the first or second series there I was giddy as a school girl telling everyone around, ” Jarvis is healthy. Jarvis Is HEALTHY!”
