Is it just me, or do I see as many as 8 potential losses for LSU next year? I’m not saying they’ll lose 8, just 8 real possibilities. And if they do fall off the cliff next season, most of the damage will be suffered at home. Could be an interesting season in the place where “dreams go to die.”

I played rugby…. one season…. ouch. No really….. OUCH> Drank a lot of beer at TK Hartys. You could drink per the cover on the deck until you had to go pee. I once played chess with John Mooney. I lost. That was probably for the best. Of course Tuesdays it was Allens. My Father came and visited me after receiving my grades and was “none too pleased”. Which was what Mom called to warn me about. My Dad never lost a fight in his life and I was over matched. I blame my fellow rugby players for taking me down that road. 😉

Although Tadj Jones played only in the bowl game, he was effective enough to develop into a force on a young D. Mills, Loston Jr.- Jr.Barrow will occupy key positions. That leaves (DT) Johnson, (CB) Collins and (S) Micah to round out possible starters. That incoming class will get a chance to put some kids on a 2013 team. By my count, that leaves about 15 spots open for a 1st/2nd team Div-1 D. Could half of their D end up Fr.?

I’m happy he is coming back. Don’t want to be a downer, but the hype surrounding the offense is going to disappoint a lot of people next year if they think it will be much better than this year. You don’t lead the nation on ypp and passer rating two years in a row very easily. Our schedule gets harder and teams now have a year to adjust to our new spread formations and personnel. We will be good, but anyone who thinks we will destroy this years numbers is going to be wrong

Agreed – not to mention that the last 10 years have taught me to basically invert pre-season expectations for the O-line. I look forward to a solid Offensive season with the greatest QB in UGA history, but if we can’t put together a D at least as good as this years (a tall order given the attrition) we will not be winning any championships.

A tall order based on talent leaving, but not execution. We were 1,000 yards worse against the run this year vs. 2011. Playing 2 option teams instead of one doesn’t account for that (giving up 400 yards rushing combined to UT and UK though…)

I agree it will be hard to improve on this year’s numbers. But, I think it’s possible. The greatest benefit is that we won’t have to wait for the line and receivers to gel.
Murray and Gurshall were good from the outset this year. But some of the linemen and receivers down the depth chart took several games to develop. We could hit the ground next year vs. Clemson and USC running on all cylinders.

Even if it’s tougher, even if the numbers don’t repeat, this offense has got to be better with Murray, bringing Mason along, than with Mason getting thrown right into the fray against the tough, early schedule. This is a blessing, count it as one or you’ll be counted as a negitive minded goof.

Sounds good. We have (unfortunately) affixed Hutson with this iconic label as a great or good QB based upon his coming into his first game and throwing a TD on his first pass as a Bulldog. That got into our psyche so much that we engaged in “player puffery” concerning his abilities. We need to pay more attention to his gradeout in a game where he executes a lot of plays. We don’t have any idea what he will do on a regular every-game basis while we know what Aaron will do (excellent) most of the time.
We know that Murray takes the team on his back as soon as we are scored upon, but we have a pair of dice only for other QBs performing in the same milieu. It is a priceless gift to us fans that Aaron will be around to help newcomers and oldcomers to a year of fine QBing next year. That places 3 additional years of team influence when he can be the QB and the mentor (as best QB in the nation) for all other UGA QBs. Sabans extra consultants and hidden hires can’t even approximate that leg-up! Another goody on Aaron’s staying is the patience we are afforded to the rebuilding of our D in support of the high-flying O that has been constructed for us by Richt and Bobo.

I’ve been critical about Murray’s tendency to throw real headscratchers straight to opposing defenders and taking too long to get rid of the ball in the pocket (though he did get much better in both respects in the second half of this season), but am happy he’s coming back. All in all, he’s a very good college QB, and I think one more year (hopefully) perfecting his decision-making will benefit him as he prepares for the next level.
Our O is going to be something to behold this coming season.

He will play plenty, wheather AM is there or not. It’s the perfect set-up for breaking in what should be a very capable replacement for Murray. Look for Bobo to ease him into the games, a little, then a lot, and eventually
give him a start. AM understands this…he may be looking down the road to an eventual coaching job (if his stint in the NFL is short) and 2013 will make a huge statement to that effect. I’m just as happy as an antelope with night vision goggles right now.
