Falling up

There’s only one explanation for a team with the nation’s 83rd best offense firing its coordinator and replacing him with the man who piloted the nation’s 118th best offense:  Scot Loeffler is the poor man’s Lane Kiffin.

Beamer Ball’s about to take on a whole new meaning.

What else is a Beamer to do if he can’t get Mike Bobo?

If Scott Loeffler is the answer, I’m not sure Beamer was asking the correct question.

I don’t know much about Loeffler’s pre-Tiger career, but it’s probably unfair to judge him on his one year at the University of Auburn. He was changing over from a very different offensive scheme and he had a roster of athletes better suited to the other system and nowhere was that situation more glaring than at quarterback. Of course, VA Tech has its share of offensive issues as well, but it might not be fair to call Loeffler Lane Kiffin just yet.

Besides, I’d argue that a lateral move from Auburn to Virginia Tech is falling downward.

I’d say good move for VT. They’ve struggled mightily to develop QBs, and Loefler has coached some good ones – not at AU, obviously, but that situation was impossible.

Beamer seems to know a few things about what it takes to be a winner. Auburn was a dumpster fire he probably shouldn’t have gotten involved in, but there was a good paycheck involved.

The irony of this is that many Gator fans were upset that Loeffler did not replace Mullen, when Dan left the Gators to go to MSU.
