Here’s something to keep an eye on.
Remembering how brutal the heat was for the 2003 opener (bonus points for the concessions running out of ice before the first half was over), I’m not gonna complain if they want to see this one played under the lights. (To be fair, the heat was my only complaint about that game.)

Georgia athletics director Greg McGarity said he was “not aware” of the possibility, when asked his reaction to Swinney’s comment. And frankly you would have a hard time seeing why Georgia would go along with it: The Bulldogs would face a short turnaround before another vital game, at home against South Carolina on the following Saturday.
In other words, this sucker’s DOA, unless ESPN wants it so much it’s prepared to pull a lot of strings to make it happen. Which I’ll admit isn’t totally beyond the realm of possibility. But it’s a helluva stretch.

That stinks since Tuesday is a work and school day. College football belongs on Saturday!

They need to let people know so they can get motels as soon as possible. Since it’s an ACC home game we’re lucky if they don’t broadcast it on Thursday night. If it’s on Monday we’ll have a rough time getting ready for USCe.

Especially since scar plays on Thursday for their first game every year. They already get two more days then Georgia to prepare. I would hate to give them 4 extra days then Georgia to prepare.

I don’t mean to hijack the thread but did anyone else think that there was pass interference on that crucial 4th down pass near the end of the NFC Championship game? If a flag gets thrown there the Falcons get a first down inside the 5 with 1 minute to go, probably score and win the game, thereby securing a trip to the Super Bowl.

I thought it coulda been called, or defensive holding, but wasn’t and I was ok with it either way. Also I should note that I certainly don’t live and die by the Falcons like I do the Dawgs.

Me either, just wanted an entertaining game. And that was an incomplete pass on the review that went the falcons way, and julio pushes off to get seperation. Bottomline, calls can be argued all day by fans, especially on holding and pass interference. Penalties that ticked me off the most was the PF for a touching a helmet, barely, and the one against baltimore for a legit hit on a receiver. Players don’t know what they can, and cannot do anymore. Falcons dominated the first Qtr so much that the conversation shouldn’t be about a PI call, they let that one get away themselves.

Yeah, I thought the piggyback ride should’ve been called but I’m not too upset about it. Dannell Ellerbe is going from Willie-Mo-crippled player to undrafted free agent to Super Bowl-caluibur defender (as a solid part of the defense he plays for). That makes me too happy to worry about all of the other stuff. There’s an outside shot at UGA fielding a 4th Super Bowl MVP.

No. Screw the underachieving Falcons. They are not the best team in the NFC, regardless of their regular season record. In the end, the better team won.

As with boise, I am all in favor of playing Clem’s Son the Thursday before to give us that extra two days before SC but am really opposed to Monday night. We can probably handle it, but should be looking the other direction to move this game. Sounds more like Spurrier is stirring this talk up, little whiner.

I don’t roll on Shabbos… And the Dawgs don’t play on Thursday or Friday or Monday or any other FN day but Saturday. Bowls being the exception.

It seems to me that we need to be practicing blocking and tackling against reasonable opposition as close to the usc game as possible. As such I don’t think it would do us any good to take the Monday before the usc game off by playing Clemson. We need to get some real practice and preparation in. Maybe we can schedule Clemson the day we usually go to the pool?

I think I’d be in favor of the game actually beling played on Thursday night. It would be the biggest game to open College Football in a long time, plus give us a little time to get ready for the Cocks. Also, it leaves you the whole Saturday to watch the rest of the open of the season. I think we should push for that, then float rumors that ESPN wants the South Carolina vs. UNC game on Monday night for it’s Labor Day game. Give us 9 days, give Spurrier 5…that’d rattle his cage.
BTW, did y’all see Ace Sanders went pro?

Wasn’t the 1982 Clemson game (even my mom in Miami asked about Herschel’s thumb) rescheduled and played at night because ABC practically paid for the lights at Sanford Stadium?

Given that under Richt we have at least a half dozen suspensions (in good years) going into the first game, why would we schedule Clemson for the opener? It bad enough we have to play SC hamstrung, this year its two tough games.
