I think you guys know I don’t do the in the weeds analysis when it comes to recruiting. There are plenty of places to go for that stuff, if you’re of a mind, and, besides, having raised three of my own, the idea of chasing a bunch of 17-year-olds around to learn their emotional state du jour lacks a certain zest. Been there, done that.
But let it not be said that I’m not sensitive to reader issues. A lot of you follow the process more closely than I do, so you might enjoy Bruce Feldman’s piece on the ten biggest recruiting battles taking place in the week leading up to signing day. Georgia’s involved in four of them.
This Foster kid looks like a diva…not sure that’s good…
And I just wish we could get a mention for being in the #1 recruits list, seeing as how he’s an instate kid and all. I’m not complaining about recruiting or Richt or anything, and if it were me I know my brother already being at OleMiss would influence me. It’d just make me feel better to see us on the list I suppose.

I heard a recruit “expert” say that the elder Kimdiche couldn’t be admitted to UGA so we didn’t recruit him. Judging by his performance in this years game & the size, etc. of his bro, I wish we had done a good sales pitch on “Hargrave Military Academy and then you can get in.”

He didn’t qualify. We did recruit him in fact CMR helped him land at Ole Miss from what I read. Too bad that did not help us with his baby brother.

We recruited Denzel too late. Offered him a scholly way late in the process. I think it left a sour taste in the mouth of their family.

The story I read was much closer to what Debby is saying.

About 4-5 paragraphs down, Denzel is quoted saying he had a late scholarship offer from UGA. But by then, he had already made up his mind about Ole Miss and he said it looked like it was a ploy just to get his brother.
I’m not disagreeing with the academic issues or anything Debbie said. I was just pointing out the fact that he wasn’t exactly in love with UGA after the late offer. And usually brothers have mutual feelings, thus, it effect Robert’s recruitment. They were some academic issues. But apparently he took some late classes that qualified him for Ole Miss and would have qualified him for UGA had he decided to go there.

If you’re worried about Foster being a diva, then you certainly shouldn’t want Nkemdiche. Some of the requirements he put on his initial commital to Clemson were absurd.

Link? Or atleast give some more info, please?

Where have you been? He was going to get all his friends to go to Clemson AND was dictating to Clemson who he wanted them to recruit as if he understood all their needs. A monster ego was created and at that point turned me completely away from him. No thanks

They had to offer several teammates. I live in Greenville SC and it was all over our news.

Yeah, my thinking is that he was never going to Clemson.

Bama is in on 8….And I agree Diva recruits typically don’t pan out. Too much baggage. But he is worth the risk.

I have it on good authority from my cousin’s ex-girlfriend’s former babysitter who is close to someone in the UGA program who says that I don’t give a crap about all this recruiting speculation.
Bring on signing day!

I still can’t believe we’re not brining in more OL this year. We need to add depth for the next few years. We currently only have 3 commits, The Tunsil kid and Seymore are the only other 2 we are recruiting hard. Tunsil would be a huge addition, but he’s wavering and I heard the Seymore kid is having acadmic issues and may have to go the prep/Jr College route.

Tunsil is a commit? We need the he said/she said on that one.
Sure hope you’re right.

I feel pretty confident in Tunsil coming to UGA at this point. In response to bringing in more O-lineman, we will have 14 on scholorship assuming Tunsil comes here, how many more do we need??

Given our woes in the last decade, oh, say 25-30? 😉

Gimmie Tunsil, please. Foster, Nkemdiche, etc can do whatevs if that’s what I got to give for the #1 OT.

Alpha, I have to disagree about OL depth. We return all 5 starters and 8 backups. Pick up a few recruits with potential and closing on the top OT in the nation, and maybe Seymour at Hargrave warming up for the class of 2014. I think our OL strategy is right on target.

I’m not thinking about the depth for this coming season, of those 5 returning starters I think 3 or 4 will be seniors, we need the depth for the following years. We need the quality players for our practice squad.

Gates,Lee, Burnette and Austin Long are the only Seniors. Theus (So), Andrews (Jr), Hunter Long, Mark Beard, Greg Pyke, Xzavier Ward,Watts Dantzler, and Kolton Houston (if he ever gets cleared) are all underclassmen. Add in Tunsil, Cardiello, Kublanow (center of the future and a heck of a player), and Aulden Bynum as 2013 recruits and you actually have some O-line Depth.

From what I’ve gathered from the recruiting sites, we’ll only grab one of those four. Tunsil. Possibly Adams. Fine with me though. We have a great class coming in this year.

Oh, Adams. Need him. Yes.

Given what we already have, snagging just Tunsil and Adams would leave me ecstatic. I don’t think we get more than 3 (Bellamy as the other) but would be happy to be wrong.

I don’t know what recruiting sites you have been visiting but it looks very good for us to get Adams, Tunsil, Toby, and Bellamy. Still 50/50 on Kamara, might get Thomas, probably not going to get Foster.

Dawgs have done an outstanding job recruiting this year. We have 13 already attending class, 16 verbal commits, and in the thick of the fight for a half dozen remaining targets. Have to be impressed with the way Dawgs have approached recruiting this round.

Richt doesn’t offer until they qualify. Denzel didn’t qualify until well past NSD.
If they had good parents who didn’t live in Nigeria while their children were in High School, they’d both be at Georgia.

If Foster signs w/ UGA, he could probably start immediately at any of the linebacker spots (except for WOLB, which is reserved for Jordan Jenkins . . . beast). Foster, Amarlo Herrera, Jordan Jenkins, and [Ramik Wilson/Chase Vasser/James Deloach/Josh Dawson]. We also have a some good talent coming in w/ this class. If CTG is to be believed, this Bellamy kid could compete for starting time.
I agree that he certainly has some prima donna tendencies, but he’s worth the risk. Some guys are just too talented to pass up, even if there is a substantial possibility that they will not pan out. Even Isaiah Crowell ended up being worth the risk (and a net positive, considering that he is the player to whom our ten-win season in 2011 is most attributable).
If we get Foster, we get a guaranteed, difference-making starter; if we get that, our linebacker corps starts looking like a real strength rather than a liability.

Bobby, the “player to whom our 10-win season in 2011 is most attributable” is Aaron Murray.
