Gee, and I remember the Cap One Bowl like it was yesterday. Anyway, to get your appetites whetted, here are a couple of looks at what’s in store over the next few weeks leading up to the G-Day game, from David Ching and Seth Emerson.
A couple of quick observations: one, it sure looks like it’s a good thing that thirteen members of this year’s class enrolled early, as there’s a numbers problem on the o-line, at receiver and even at tailback due to injuries. Two, I agree with Emerson that LeMay is on very shaky ground going into the spring. I’d hate to think Bobo can’t work his magic there, but the clock is certainly running.
Your thoughts?
Watching the cap one bowl on dvr now. We’ll never make it to August.

The only thing I left on the DVR is the SECCG. It is still taunting me, but I haven’t had the guts to re-watch it yet.

Ditto.

I wonder if consideration has been given to using LeMay in postions other than QB. I would think he has good hands, and he is a runner..If I remember he is pretty good in the open field or scrambling…QBs are usually adept at making good decisions (such as “should I fair catch this? should I let it roll?), so why not try him as a kick returner…esp. punt returner? I know a lot of these QBs hate to let go of the dream, but we’ve seen (QBs) players contribute at other places in the near past.
I honestly don’t know a whole lot about him or his situation.
Is this an option?

Man, I can’t stand to see another back-up QB fair-catching every punt.

Can any of you recruitniks enlighten me on something, please? I thought JJ Green was supposed to be a CB, but the pre-spring stories I’ve read have him listed as a receiver and/or a scatback. Did Georgia recruit him for offense? Or is that decision still way up in the air?

It’s my understanding that he was recruited as a CB but because of the injuries at running back and receiver he’ll be practicing with the offense for spring. After spring it’s anyone’s guess.

Hey played RB & CB in HS in a wingT offense, but also returned kicks/punts. Some felt he was a little small for an SEC RB, but as noted injuries probably put him on offense.

Lemay has been a mystery, I know he missed his Sr. year in high school but he was so highly regarded that you had to feel CMR and CMB could develop him with 2 yearst time but so far…nada. Haven’t heard any negatives about his attitude, behavior, or work ethic so I continue to have some hope he will emerge. As you say Senator, the clock is running and now is the time to take the shot to move up the ladder. If he isn’t at least pushing Mason by the start of the season, I would say his best chance may lie at other positions.
After reading how thin we are at RB and OL it makes me wonder how much we will learn this Spring. Tiring how often this seems to happen, the off season surgeries seem to pile up for UGA. I like that it gives players we really need a chance to prove themselves but wish our defensive players were being tested against our best offensive group.

I wonder if some of those r running backs who went to Bama are wishing they had come here. Everyone was saying we had too much depth at RB. Boo should have stayed.

Some of those made a major mistake even if UGA didn’t have the need. I think TN has major needs in that area if they wanted to stay in the SEC or a close geography. Florida hasn’t had a really good running back in years, Vandy just lost their best runner. Even HS recruits and their advisors should have seen the traffic jam at Bama and several of those will sit their entire career or be forced to transfer (or take the ” Bama medical” option). It is one thing to not be afraid of competition, another to think there aren’t several better places to showcase their talent.

I too am disappointed with LeMay’s progress, but since it involves playbook headwork that hasn’t caught on yet, how can we expect that he suddenly will free his brain? There is a common theme in that each year prior Murray has stated that he is still learning the play book so I don’t want to project LeMay as stupid, just that he is not trying to excell with the play calling. He has had enough time to impress Bobo and Richt and he has succeeded with neither. Wish him the best of luck because his legs and athletic ability are needed. Wouldn’t think that WR would be a good place because we have enough and his brother, Uriah, is joining us this year at that position.

Are you trying to say that if he moves to wide receiver with Uriah, there will be a Heep of Lemays stealing that position?

No, just stating the LeMay’s “Nay”s would be spread too thin for a good sandwich.
