In certain quarters of the world of Georgia message boards and comment threads, this observation by Jerry Hinnen verges on sacrilege:
— Aaron Murray will be wrapped in bubble wrap. With the senior signal-caller and Heisman candidate, the Bulldogs are a national title contender; without him, even Todd Gurley, Malcolm Mitchell and a line that returns all five starters might not be enough to make the Dawg offense anything more than average. Backup Huston Mason has been in Mike Bobo’s system for years and will have the chance to prove again this spring he’d be competent if called on, but nonetheless, few potential injuries anywhere in the country would be as devastating.
Get this man to a G-Day game, stat!
Mason is obviously the best QB we have on the roster, and Lemay would be nipping at his heels if he could just get some of the reps being wasted on Aaron Murray.

I heard from my source that Mason is actually 6-9, 250, and runs a 4.46 forty. The coaches list him at 6-3 and forbid him to stand next to Aaron Murray to keep Mason down because they like Murray better.
Free Mason!!!!

That jarring news about Mason at least shows will be able to preserve himself on a public building somewhere

And he hits the short routes better than Murray. He should start and play every game and only bring Murray in if needed to win. I believe the Senator was trying to prove this very point the other day with statistics and stuff. 🙂

If Murray ever learns to float a 0-5 yard screen/swing pass in over a defender – it’s going to be something to behold (see that Bluto – been reading your stat links.) Expect to see Murray run a little more in the big games.

Jerry Hinnan never met Thomas Brown. No, not the real Thomas Brown, the viral one.

Where has Thomas been lately? Did the Senator exile him?

I thought Hutson Mason was the backup, not Huston Mason. That makes a BIG difference.

Not so sure about “devastating”. The backup QB would have a lot of weapons and all 5 OL starters returning, unless of course they ALL got injured. Now THAT would be “devastating”.

Yeah…I like Murray as much as anyone, but I have a hard time believing the offense would be a total train wreck without him. Those other players make him better too.
