The Rules Working Group suspends two of the new recruiting proposals.
-
Prop. No. RWG-11-2, which eliminated the definition of recruiting coordination functions that must be performed only be a head or assistant coach, be suspended until appropriate modifications can be made. The concept will be considered as the membership ponders its approach to non-coaching personnel.
-
Prop. No. RWG-13-5-A, which eliminated restrictions on printed materials sent to prospects other than general correspondence, be suspended to allow for a broader discussion of the rule.
What’s Kevin Steele going to do with all that free time now?

UPDATE: It’s always the kids who suffer the most.
Like our Congress they passed something without really thinking about it. Unlike our Congress they at least realized that they should think about it before enacting it. I have no problems with staff handling recruiting but you have to limit the number of staff or the arms race will escalate.Saban might just get a new rule named after him. Saban II the coach/consultant.

“Saban might just get a new rule named after him”
It just may not be the kind of rule we would like it to be:
Saban is a big fan of Emmert’s. When he heard that the UW was trying to hire him, the football coach told the Baton Rouge newspaper, “He is absolutely the best boss I have ever had. He’s the most significant reason I was interested in this job. Never once has he disappointed me.”

Speaking of new rules Senator, have you seen the new competition rules that were passed for next season?
Spiking the ball with less than 4 seconds left in the half or game will trigger a 3 second runoff, effectively ending the half/game. Also, if a player is “injured” (real or not) in the final 2 minutes of either half, there will be a 10 second runoff of the game clock.
Just wow… These are DUMB.
