“He deserves a chance. He’s ready.”

It’s official:  Paul Johnson has a coaching tree.

Brian Bohannon has been named Kennesaw State’s first football coach.

Bohannon, who played at Georgia, has been an assistant coach in charge of quarterbacks and B-backs at Georgia Tech since 2008. Bohannon will be introduced at a press conference at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. The Owls are expected to play their first season of football in 2015.

“He’s the perfect fit,” athletic director Vaughn Williams said. “He’s an up-and-coming coach. He’s been around success in a lot of different ways all his life. I think you are a product of your environment.”

Must… restrain… snark.

Seriously, that makes three programs in the state running the triple option.  That’s got to be even better news for Tech’s recruiting in the next few years.

Whisper in his ear

Mark Richt claims not to have known what his quarterback was doing over spring break, but Mike Bobo knew what Murray was up to:

“No, it doesn’t bother me,” Bobo said. “He’s been to the Manning Camp, too. I think anytime you can go somewhere and get one thing or two things that might help you be more accurate or help you with footwork, it’s good. It’s the same in coaching. You’re always looking for one more thing that might be the difference in getting a first down or winning a game. I think it’s a good thing.”

The only qualification Bobo had for Murray was “don’t be messing with your release.” Murray obliged.

“We didn’t just throw my old form out the window,” he said. “It was really about tweaking little things here and there and working on a couple of things.”

If you read the piece in its entirety, what comes across is that Aaron Murray wants to have a plan to deal with Jadeveon Clowney when his offensive line doesn’t.  Who can blame him for that?
