Kiffin watch: Et tu, Barkley?

Shorter Matt Barkley:  the biggest regret about my senior season was not letting my teammates know I thought the head coach was a dick.

Of course I’m obviously prejudiced, being a Georgia fan and all, but this:

“Where he’ll end up remains a mystery. With no Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III in this draft, Barkley ranks among a group that includes West Virginia’s Smith, Syracuse’s Ryan Nassib, Florida State’s E.J. Manuel and North Carolina State’s Mike Glennon, all of whom are considered strong candidates to be drafted in the first two rounds.”

Where the heck is Aaron? Hasn’t he proved himself as much or more than any of these guys, including Barkley?

Hutson Mason is probably thinking the same thing.

I believe they are only discussing quarterbacks who will actually be entering the draft.

Yes, but he may also be asking why in the world didn’t AM enter this draft? I am thrilled to have him back but the NFL is in bad need of QBs and this draft class isn’t going to satisfy that. I can understand wanting to stay in Athens another year, and perhaps owning every significant passing record in SEC history is very inviting, but I don’t think his stock could have gotten much more valuable. Clearly he didn’t get this advice from an agent.

Let’s see; he didn’t look so good during the season and he ended up injured when the gittin’ got bad; he was touted by ESPN for the Heisman after everyone else had dropped him from their list (Murray never came near in their consideration); He was given open mike time for an hour being interviewed with his parents on the field sitting in director’s chairs during his Pro day that essentially showed he had inferior talent; he continues to be singled out for promotional interviews with ESPN who are overtly trying to help him increase his stock in the Draft.

Gosh, can’t ESPN at least say that they made another mistake that lasted 4 yrs?

The larger question is, will there still be a Kiffin Watch when there is no longer a Kiffin to watch? To wit, if a Kiffin falls in an empty soup kitchen and no of us is around to roll our eyes, does he still whine and generally make an arse of himself? Think on these things.
