How ya gonna keep ’em down on the farm once they’ve seen the Flats?

Georgia Tech’s latest recruiting pitch looks like something that was beta tested at Dragon*Con.

I can’t wait to hear from the first recruit who says he was swayed by that.

I hope Pehrson is taking some English classes during his post graduate work, “Here there is some bad weather up North? That’s to bad cause I’m about to go golfing! #migrationsouth”

Also, you play golf. You don’t “go golfing” you damn, nerd! Tech better improve its footballing or no recruiting technique will be very effective.

I love to make fun of Georgia Tech, but I’m completely and totally serious when I say this: if I was running athletics or the administration at a school situated in the capital city of one of the nation’s most talent-rich football states, a school located in the heart of one of America’s most vibrant cities and the capital of the new south, and my football coaches went public that their strategy is to recruit the fucking northeast and north then I would fire those coaches. If not fire them, certainly I would tell them to change their approach. I know that Tech still tries to recruit Georgia and the south. But this Migration strategy just smacks of giving up the fight down here, and it’s why Georgia Tech is our doormat. They can sneer at us about academic standards all they want to. Vanderbilt is eating their lunch in recruiting, and they’re doing it without the stadium, facilities, tradition, and home base in Georgian recruiting that Tech has. Vandy’s not exactly a community college. I’m serious. If my coaches told me that they were no longer attempting to press what could be a real recruiting advantage against all the other schools my league save FSU and Miami, I would fire them.

Don’t blame them, their Dungeons and Dragons die roll merely told them that the migration was the best way to recruit.

    • Hey keep it quite GD. What if a GT administrator caught wind of that logic?

So this strategy is basically just re-aligning the roster with the population of the city. It’ll be about 1/3 people actually from Georgia, then a whole bunch of transient Yankees.

I’m not sure where all this love for Hotlanta being the place to raise your kids comes from? For what it is worth Athens is pretty cool …… but it is the poorest county of it’s size in the US of A. I’m sure those that are on the other side of the track would like to move on. to another place … another venue… another town.
To be sure if you use the word “fucking” in the same sentence as firing one would think you are serious about moving someone out the door. But when your follow up is “If not fire them, certainly I would tell them to change their approach.” WOW….. I can’t take you seriously. Either sheer them like sheep and dare their attorneys to milk the billable hours or don’t even bring it up.
      just sayin’

That was one player. UGA focuses on Georgia and then targets select standouts from other parts of the country. Tech is basically surrendering its home state which is one of the most talent rich states in the country to focus elsewhere.

Judging from his bio, I can only assume he’s planning to raid ACC outlier, er, BIG-integer-adjacent Maryland for their rich talent pool. What a dumbass.

A couple more 6-6 seasons and Paul Johnson might have to get on board with a different sort of migration.

Delany wants to build a 30′ wall around Coach Pherson to immigrants outside the I-285 perimeter because there are already too many Asians getting 4.0’s at Tech. When reminded that he has no control over the territory of Georgia and being told to migrate further south to Hogtown where there are no limits or boundaries, Delany learns they would never put up with letting immigrants inside Ben Hill Griffindore where Harry always gets on a stick to be Top Gun’s wingman and Boom has lost all control. (Neither Harry nor Batkid were harmed during these recruiting maneuvers but only because there was no live fire.)

The only thing that comes to mind is that, maybe, the folks up North don’t know what kind of offense they run at Tech. Boy, are they in for a surprise when they get to campus.
