Forget it, Jake. It’s Gainesville.

This is a pretty simple story.

So Morrison hit him.

At this point we can expect cries of outrage, serial AJ-C clucking, early season suspension… um, wait.  That’s not Athens.

His arrest on a misdemeanor charge, even one with details as ugly as this, is unlikely to produce more than an indefinite suspension from Will Muschamp, and Morrison is unlikely to miss games because of it. It is a safe bet that Morrison lawyers up (with Huntley Johnson) and gets a deferred prosecution arrangement from a court.

Morrison might even say he regrets the incident occurred.

As the French say, plus ca change, plus c’est la meme chose.  Except for Huntley’s bank account.

Has Boom shown yet whether he disciplines like Corch? That would be: punishment is inversely proportional to player’s star status. Any incidents in the previous 2 years that would give a clue?

Ah! Got it! Those were the words of a former football player who played in a leather helmet and who used those words while pardoning a former President of crimes he was not indicted for while in office. Do I get a kewpie doll?

Boom reviews security video of the incident, then offers pointers on how to keep shoulders lower and demands punishment of 3 wind sprints.

Had this happened in Tuscaloosa, you would have never heard about it because the police would have never arrested the kid and the papers would have never covered the incident.

The best part about this story is that it will simply die on the vine. No game suspensions means nothing else to talk about. No stories to write, no reporters asking questions. It just will die in the summer heat…we would make sure to baby and pamper this story for the whole summer so that this story could turn into the beautiful flower it deserves to be by game time in Death Valley.

We couldnt be worse at this game.

I think the best part of the story is that apparently four months is a relatively long time to be arrest-free for the UF football program. Progress indeed.

Muschamp has shown thus far that he will discipline players, especially the good athletes who smoke a blunt in a car. He has stepped up before and it will be interesting to see what he does now. (Caught the “Gainesville” reference instead of naming past and present coaches.)
