You will no doubt be relieved to hear that justice and Huntley Johnson have been served.
The State Attorney’s Office has dropped charges against University of Florida football player Antonio Morrison, who was arrested early Sunday morning on charges of interfering with a police animal.
Darry Lloyd, spokesman for the State Attorney’s Office, said the charges were dropped, a move that was expected after State Attorney Bill Cervone on Sunday indicated concern with the sufficiency of evidence to constitute a crime.
Gainesville attorney Huntley Johnson, representing Morrison, agreed that evidence was lacking.
“I would say there was no evidence,” Johnson said. “The actions of the police were embarrassing.”
There was no word from the victim on the decision, but all in all, I am reminded of this famous passage from a Sherlock Holmes story:
- Gregory (Scotland Yard detective): “Is there any other point to which you would wish to draw my attention?”
- Holmes: “To the curious incident of the dog in the night-time.”
- Gregory: “The dog did nothing in the night-time.”
- Holmes: “That was the curious incident.”
Indeed, Holmes. Indeed.

UPDATE: This is choice. Huntley’s worried about the bad precedent prosecution would have set for us.
“I would not want to be a University of Georgia fan at the Florida-Georgia game next year when those people start getting down on all fours and barking because if there are K-9 units in the facility we’re going to have a mass arrest,” Johnson said.

People need to remember he’s not the only act in the show. It’s a two man routine with Bill Cervone just as critical to the success.

If anybody knows anything about how to set bad precedent, it’s Huntley as demonstrated after “the lawsuit brought in 2000 by Johnson’s secretary, Pamela Thigpen, in which she accused her boss of foul language, sexual innuendo and physical assault. Thigpen won a judgment of more than $1 million in a civil trial, and the verdict was upheld on appeal.”
It is unknown whether Huntley* (or anyone else for that matter) ever assumed a barking position.
Repeated, close and careful film study of Maggie Gyllenhaal in ‘Secretary,’ while not on all fours with Thigpen v. Johnson, is nevertheless instructive. Maggie demonstrates that if one person were on all fours, the other would need to be upright on their hind two legs to hold onto the leash not to mention the pre-game drill of fastening the neck-to-wrist restraint mechanism in place.

I’m crossing party lines and agreeing with Huntley on this one. That overzealous cop is a dickhead and that BS arrest never should have happened.

I thought it was bullshit all along. I do hope that the overzealous/dickhead cop gets reined in.
I hope that our campus police are starting to get some sense. I really, really want to support them and give them the benefit of the doubt, but when they do stupid stuff, I just can’t.
Course that could be said of a lot of groups …

I understand cops have a difficult job, but am I the only one that seriously can’t stand them? 95% of the ones I’ve ever encountered in my life were complete overzealous aholes.
