    At least Johnny the Aggie, unlike RTR Paul (whose rejections are more compelling and disturbing than Tara Reid’s), has actually been to a frat party

        Well de facto he probably is claiming a double digit win season, which he has QBd his team to in spectacular fashion to his credit. Ultimately, whether one likes or dislikes Finebaum OR thinks Manziel is doing what any other college student would do if given the chance or no is not really the point. I think what most outside observers wonder when we read this is what it says about his judgement and whether his judgement will affect his preparation and performance.

          You think his judgment has changed since before the start of the 2012 season? I don’t. What’s changed is the level of media attention/obsession.

            I agree with your general point that the media has magnified his actions., and it is hard to know how his judgment has changed because before the 2012 season he seemingly did not have all the off field opportunities that he has had. of course, as we have later learned, his judgment was not so great then and it never affected his on field performance so you may be right.

            having seen enough sports in my lifetime, my prediction is that before too long there will be some disgruntled teammates if he struggles. My guess is at some point the “we were working hard in the Texas heat all summer and he did his own thing” quote will come out…but it may all go swimmingly well for him, which is precisely why the media essentially turned him into a reality TV show…because I have to say, I am not really curious to see how it all turns out.

              That’s one possibility. Another is that he cracks under the pressure from all the attention and struggles to maintain the level of on-field success he enjoyed last season.

            It may or may not change your judgment, but a lot of success in a short amount of time definitely changes how you act on it. Johnny Manziel may have thought the same thoughts a year ago, but now his success/fame empowers him to actually do things he might not have done before. That’s where the difference lies. Most 18-19 year olds want floor seats at NBA games and David Letterman appearances, but few get them….in the long run, that is probably to their benefit.

            I do. Being a Heisman winner opens doors, as well as legs, that aren’t open other wise. A year ago, he was some no name scrub kid. A 6′ 190 pound kid who may or may not start at QB. He didn’t have the same access to events, and other benefits of fame, that he does now.

            Well, maybe he’d have done all this back then if he had the chance, so his judgment would be the same. Simply put though, the distractions and opportunities to not be as prepared are much greater now than a year ago, while the opposing defenses will be better prepared for him than they were a year ago too.

(This is not for you to judge or even acknowledge, the ongoing grievances between Curly Finebaum and Johnny Philosopher, but is an old blood enmity which only they can comprehend, while we, not being a Finebaum or a philosopher, can’t begin to plumb the depths of it. That is it. We are Georgia fans and he is only a Finebaum, the other is a Philosopher, and the one being a Finebaum, we are not fit to regard him with anything more than sullen trepidation.) Besides beating Finebaum’s favorite team was the championship for Johnny Philosopher tweet purposes.

    Manzeil’s setting up his very own Greek Tragedy for 2013. I do recall taking a few lit courses as a normal 20 year old. I’m guessing that’s one side of normal Manzeil wants no part of, even though he could clearly use it.
