Evil Richt ♥ Clowney.

Mark Richt turned provocateur at last night’s “UGA Day” event at the Gwinnett Center, and it seems to have gone over a lot of folks’ heads.

No, man.  You’re not getting it.  Mark Richt didn’t say that because he truly believes it, because what he believes about Jadeveon Clowney’s greatness is irrelevant.  Richt just flipped the media conversation from terrorized quarterbacks to “insane hype”.  It’s a tasty soundbite that ESPN will chew over all the way to September 7th.  Maybe Clowney lives up to it; maybe he doesn’t.  But in any event, he’ll have to own it for the next few weeks.

Meanwhile, Georgia can get ready to prepare for its first two games.  Well played, ER.

Evil Richt is wise in the ways of the world.
I hope Evil Richt is at the helm sometimes this fall when it comes time for CMR to call off the dogs.

I didn’t think Richt was capable of that type of manipulation…

    Evil Richt indeed

    Hmmmm. Feindishly clever.

The ‘Illuminati’ strikes again, it amazes me how a simply question can change the narrative.

“Tell you what, Steve. I’ll see your whining and pouting and cheap shots at our program, and raise you a boatload of hype for your best player, who already has a pretty high opinion of himself based on his public comments and his “friendship” with Jay Z.”

Evil RIcht understands that the most effective way to kill people is with kindness. He’s a true ninja.

It baffles me how quickly and easily it for a mass number of people to overlook the word “might”, which happens to be a pretty key word in CMR’s quote.

“MIGHT be the best player, period” does not equal “Everyone else can just quit now, perfection has been achieved.” It’s like the entirety of sports media personnel are middle school kids waiting for that “OHHHHH NO HE DIDN’T!!!!” opportunity, even if they have to alter a direct quote to get it.

I know we’re looking at the psychological battle ER/CMR is/may not be waging, but it’s the little things that bother me.

Are you telling me that Dan Wetzel has missed the point? Inconceivable!

Evil Richt is in your head, JC.

I think reporters that lift quotes from rubber chicken circuit at the Touchdown Club, Rotary Club, Kiwanis or Jaycees should have his press credentials revoked and forced to wear a dunce cap at a busy intersection for two weeks.

    What a clod.

  10. I admit it….Michael Carvel is on my twitter feed. You should read some of that clown’s comments on this from last night. It’s like he really doesn’t have a clue about Richt. I just replied to one of his tweets with “woosh”.

The guy either holds a grudge against Richt or he’s trying too hard to not be a homer.

I think its great. Swallowing an overdose of hype is about the only thing that’s gonna stop Clowney, because he MAY BE the best player alive today.

Maybe Clowney handles the megahype and it doesn’t affect his play. But at least force him to handle it.

    My response: Jadeveon Clowney.

I don’t see this as a big deal on any level. As is sometimes the case, this statement is just being taken out of context. I also do not see it as a ploy by Richt to funnel media attention on this point. IMO, this is not some kind of psychological-media move by Richt. Over-analyzing it if you go that far.

Richt was talking about the difficulty of planning for Manziel and went out of his way to praise Clowney’s abilities. This caught fire and everyone seems to be forgetting about the word MIGHT that was used at the beginning of Richt’s sentence.

This is what the offseason does to us.

Not sure which response I liked better to Clowney questions.

1- Murray saying the last time he (Murray) talked smack he got his leg broken so he wouldn’t want bad karma
2- Richt responding by saying Clowney is greatest who ever existed at any level.

Hopefully, Clowney and Spurrier will keep talking about how great they are.
