Get The Picture 
With regards to Elkon’s UF piece, I think it is highly consistent with what we thought about UF a year ago, which is the fact that they were not as good as their “resume” record suggested.
That said, I tend to think UF is being dismissed too easily on the heals of the UM loss. They moved the ball against UM, and quite frankly, they moved the ball in ways they have not in recent years, which is getting the ball to WRs. Yes, Driskell sometimes looks like a computer trying to run the current version of Microsoft Office on an intel 286 microprocessor, but he has improved over a year ago.
The defense appears to be every bit as good as last year’s (which ironically and counter to the point I am making – was probably NOT as good as their numbers either – as we are jaded by seeing our offense score 17 points because our QB performed at a TERRIBLE level which was the complete opposite of how he performed against other teams – but I digress!). The point is that nothing about their loss to Miami makes me less concerned about our game with them. Other than LSU, I just don’t see them losing again prior to our game.

In regards to accidental recruiting, I think the same thing about our basketball program. How do 4 and 5 stars continue to leave our state, we only need three to really get the program on the right track.
I still have hope that one day it will happen.

Chris Brown’s piece was fascinating…not so much for its surprises…but because it reinforced what was obvious….Bama has lots of good players, Georgia has lots of good players…Tennessee and South Carolina don’t.
So….Saban must have decided to leave LSU because the job was too easy, and to come to Bama because it was…ah….well.
I don’t know why Tech does not recruit better, it could be because their football coach is rude, arrogant and ineffective and, if you need more, because he runs an offensive system that is only vaguely effective against even the middle of the ACC.
I was never a big Keith Jackson fan, I had Munson. But he’s right about one thing…they do talk way, way too much. They fill the air with constant and unending trivial bullshit and only now and then call the game.
I frankly don’t see how anybody can listen to the TV broadcasters…I’d rather be marooned on a desert island with nothing but Grateful Dead records than listen to Brent and Herbie or any of the rest of them.
Of all the bad things TV football is doing, this is the worst.
The danger of reading bad stuff about Florida now is that it may breed overconfidence when it matters….The Mean Green is all I have room to worry about….well, and there is LSU in there somewhere.

My TV has recently developed the odd behavior of increasing the football game’s crowd (background) volume and diminishing the announcer volume. I can barely make out the what the talking heads are saying. I’m thinking this bug is a pretty nice feature!

It isn’t just your TV. For the last couple of years, any ESPN/ABC football broadcast has the crowd noise pumped up so high that you can’t hear the announcers. I swear I can tell the difference between an ESPN broadcast and a CBS broadcast with my eyes closed – after hearing just a few seconds of ambient noise.

+1, I mute all games with Musberger and HERBSTREIT as a matter of course. Nessler and Blackledge who we were graced with last week are one of the few pairs I can stand anymore. Blackledge is really good IMO.

The Longhorn piece on where players come from is quite interesting. What I find amazing is how far down on the list the State of Oregon is, yet look at the success of Oregon and, to a lesser extent, Oregon State. I think both are feeding at the California trough. BTW, maybe American Somoa should start a college and play D-IA football.

I finally watched a replay of the south Carolina game last night and I have to say…I really enjoy Todd Blackledge and the other guy’s coverage of the game. Knowledgeable, understandable and don’t blather on about BS and fill the air with their stupid laughs. They’re easily my favorite pair.
