This “committee” will just be another poll…Lou Holtz needs to retire from journalism so he can get on it. No way this is going to be fair. They have found a way to get two yankee teams in.

As everyone knows, anytime you have a “selection committee” you open the door for bias and corruption. The “selection(s)” are always very subjective and someone inevitably gets left out. My suggestion, while not perfect, would be to divide the country into 5 or 6 regions with 3 representatives from each region. These reps would consist of former coaches and former AD’s and maybe former players. I would not allow former administrators and certainly no journalists past or present. If the administrator’s were doing their jobs while in office, they should have been focusing more on academics than athletics. I have never been in favor of a group of journalists deciding the national champion. Most of them never played the game but think they have all the answers. It seems to me that we are reverting back to the old AP system of determining a champion under the proposed system above. I say put some guys on there that know the game and will be somewhat objective, if they exist.

As I have said all along, all this four team thing is going to do is shift the bitching to who should have been the 4th team instead of who should have been the 2nd team. We’ll have a 32 team playoff before too long with people resting their players on the last week of the regular season, if that happens I’ll probably just skip straight to watching only the NFL.
