A month from now, nobody’s going to remember how sloppy today’s game was.

Although I won’t have forgotten how wet I got watching it.

    • I agree this game will be forgotten except if the Dawgs lose to LSU. On the other hand the special teams made the same snap mistake for three games in a row.

And now the snapper is on the bench. Trent Frix, who is in a long line of snappers (that is such a weird thing) will take over there.

This game will be forgotten in a week. Win or lose to LSU, our fans will focus solely on the result of that game as the result for every single one of our remaining games.

There were some highs and lows. Our D walls great. O was good. Special teams were atrocious.

Boy, LSU’s laying the wood to Auburn in rain that looks worse than what fell on Sanford today. I sure hope to hell today was us getting all our slop out of our system, because, if it wasn’t, next Saturday is going to be a long-ass day. It wasn’t all bad – we saw some glimpses of some players who ought to be damn good in the fullness of time – but we’re not going to be able to spot LSU anything and win.

Yup. I truly hope we were looking ahead to LSU and got caught sleeping on this one. If not, it is going to be a very long afternoon for us dawg fans next Saturday.

We totally destroyed them in stats and if not for the special teams mistakes (I swear to God its Deja Vu when it comes to specials teams problems and UGA) they score only 7.

The D looked much improved but I am not sure how much we can take away from that considering the level of competition a CUSA can give you.

You must’ve missed the C-USA broadcast from Andre Ware today.

That was no ordinary team…it was a “Senior laden” team that “came to win” and wasn’t any “pay-check team”.

Somebody must’ve pissed in Andre’s cornflakes at the Holiday Inn this morning.

And in addition to all of that Murray has small hands which may bear on his ability to throw in the rain!

and then followed it up towards the end of the game saying that he did great and all the questions about Murray being able to throw in the rain have been answered. Make up your mind, man! Are his hands too small or are they OK? We need to know these things!

Don’t you love it when the Booth Boobs backup their own bullshit with more bullshit that seems to contradict the earlier bullshit they shat.

Thank God I can get the Georgia radio broadcast and don’t have to listen to this abysmal stuff.

It ain’t Munson, but I’ll take it.

              • Lately, I have enjoyed the radio much more. Especially for Braves Games, since I grew up listening. No, it is not Larry, but anything is better than TV with all the BS that you have to put up with. I just love to visualize instead of seeing the TV. You learn so much more about the players and such.

Thinking we already had 1 eye on next week. Would have been better to have played N. Texas last week and had bye this week, but whatever.

Did you hear Holtz say that UGA was one of the best kicking teams in the nation when John Fabris was coaching?

    • Coastal Dawg

I thought he said that but wasn’t sure. Frankly couldn’t believe anyone would say that so I blew it off.

Not surprised. Holtz had Fabris on staff when he was at Sakerlina. If asked, Lou probably thinks his son is doing a good job coaching too.

It’s unbelievable they let Holtz be on tv any more. He doesn’t say anything worth paying attention to…it’s all either filtered through his personal biases or through his own special senile sauce. Clearly they can see this…he’s the Pat Robertson of college football.

Why do I get the feeling CMR convinced Mason to stay by showing how loaded/experienced we’d be next year?

Every year I say I can’t take another year hearing Lou Holtz suck his damn dentures, but every year I end up managing somehow. But it’s not easy. I imagine Mark May on commercial breaks saying “Lou, say it, don’t spray it, dude.” Will the man ever retire? When is his contract up at ESPN? Do they just feel sorry for him? Would ANYONE except Lou Holtz be unhappy if he stepped away from broadcasting forever?

Is that a demotion for him reffing an out of conference game ?

      Like

      • Yes, it is a demotion. And there were at least 2, one flagrant, blocks in the back on the Kickoff TD return. Don’t hate Wagers but highly disrespect his body of work. To paraphrase ole ‘Crystal’ Ball – ‘A barnacle on the battleship of SEC football that needs to be scraped off’.

What’s up with our fans booing after two incompletions to Conley? I imagine they are the same idiots that wanted to go for fourth down from our side of the field with under two minutes in the half.

    Like

      • Nate Dawg

Cuda been booing for wanting pass interference. Maybe they were hopin’ for that since it was obvious we weren’t gonna get ANY holding calls to help our d line – even tho it happened basically the whole game. But let’s not go too far out on a limb & give our fans any credit here…

My impression was people were really frustrated that Murray missed wide-open Conley 3 times.

I never, ever boo, but I did wonder what the hell was going on.

It was just twice, raining hard, and Murray was 13/16 including the pick and those two misses. That was Philly-esque.

            Like

            • adam

It was 3 times. 2 first downs and an open deep ball that Murray overthrew. Either way, he was overall pretty sharp. Just a few weird misses and an incredibly frustrating pick.

We had a lot of drives for nothing though and 2 turnovers. Lots of plays for 0 yards as we ran into a loaded box. I don’t get that.

Anyway, people need to grow up and stop booing their team. That’s embarrassing.

Murray was 22/30 for 408 yards, 3 TDs and a pick in the end zone (which I think he forced because he was excited about trying to reach 100). Threw his 100th TD a school record 98 yards. All while PLAYING IN THE RAIN! and he still gets boos, Philly-esque indeed!

Does it make me a bad fan to disagree with the subject of this entry?

I love Coach Richt, and am ok with Bobo, but several times I found myself asking, “WTF are they thinking?” Especially during the Keystone Kops time-management program to end the first half.

    • DSmith

I thought the time-management worked out in our favor there. If they’d used the timeouts on NT’s 1st and 2nd downs, then we wouldn’t have had a shot at the field goal.

      • Yep, the announcers were idiots. UGA did it exactly right.

FWIW, I didn’t hear a word the CBS guys said all night. Zeier and Howard were really scratching there heads over it, though.

Have to watch again, but I believe UGA had the ball with over 2 minutes left, and Richt’s first move was to run the clock down and call the first time out.

Auburn is a terrible, terrible passing team, yet they are having some luck running the ball. I like the way Georgia’s offense will match up with this defense.

If not for special teams’ horrible mistakes in 3 consecutive games, we would likely be 3-0, South Carolina would have looked like a blowout, and Hutson Mason would have some pass attempts instead of handing off twice at the end of the game. Other than that, everything is just fine I guess.

Take away the 2 ST plays and its 45-7. You cant take them away but we were never seriously threatened – our D held them to 200 yards. Not sure what more you could ask for from the defense. Was the offense sloppy at times sure? But at the point of Murray’s 2 short hops to Conley – I think they showed his stats as 23-26. What more is he supposed to do? Now, I will concede I still don’t understand how our O-line can’t generate a push on a 3rd and short.

If we play LSU the same way, of course it will be closer. And it may turn out like the Clemson game. But it may turn out like South Carolina too.
