Richt on special teams issues: "Everything is very correctable." #UGA
— Marc Weiszer (@marcweiszer) September 24, 2013
I don’t know whether to laugh, cry, drink or throw something.
“We remember the Sugar Bowl, I think it my junior year of high school, we let Alabama beat us twice,” Brinson said of a team that also lost to the Crimson Tide in the SEC Championship game. “We’re not letting Alabama beat us twice. In the Sugar Bowl in 2018, they… thought they should have been in the playoffs and lost to Texas.” -- AB-H, 12/27/23
I would be worried if he didn’t feel it was collectable.

coach richt should just recruit 1 and 2 star players that ‘want to be a part’ of his super-special, special teams plan. that would fix all our problems. oh wait, we aren’t running the triple option on special teams? nevermind. that would be stupid if we arent running the triple option.

i don’t remember irwin being so angry and defensive. chevy chase is a lot less funny than he used to be. nice to know fletch is obsessed with georgia tech, though!

what you are reading in my comments is anything but defensive. it is an offensive assault on your trolling comments by basically pointing out that those who live in mustard yellow houses shouldn’t throw stones…of course, i wish i could attack your trolling in most perfect method possible, the triple option. if i could only somehow have a ‘b-back’ lined up in my comments and then blow a train whistle at the end, maybe i could have the perfect offensive assault on your trolling.
to sum up, my comments are not the swarm of an al groh defense. they are only grasping to reach a small percentage of offense as understood by the genius coachpauljohnson which i understandably will never attain.
i also hate tommy lasorda.

either you don’t know what “trolling” is, or you haven’t actually read your comments compared to mine. there’s only one troll in this conversation, and he seems to be obsessed with paul johnon and the triple option for some reason.
thanks for ruining everyone’s memory of a funny movie, toolbag.

Wow, that escalated quickly.
I’m not sure what your definition of trolling is if it doesn’t include ‘commenting on rival blog while poking fun at rival fans and rival team and rival coaches on said blogs’ 🙂
I’m not here to ruin anyone’s time…sincere apologies for tarnishing Fletch and getting you worked up. [Although, I will take a little offense to the toolbag remark…not because I’m not personally a toolbag, but because I thought my responses were pretty clever.]

What was he supposed to say? We suck and there isnt a damn thing we can do about it?
He has already replaced Theus at snapper……correction.
Barber dropping the snap was a fluke.
No, he is not going to hire a special teams coach the Tuesday before game 4.
Honestly, not to be an ass, but what REALLY do you want him to do today, right now.

Be quiet about it.
Also, since there’s been a serious screw up in each of the first three games, I think it would have been nice if they had fixed things before now. But maybe that’s just me.

The question was asked. If he says no comment, he gets ripped about having his head in the sand.
I agree on fixing things. In all honesty, I think some things are getting better. I like Swann back returning punts. He seems to do a better job actually catching the ball.
I thought kickoff return coverage was getting better, until Saturday. The irony there is the guys taking bad angles and missing tackles on the kickoff are the guys everyone wants to play D because they are so damn awesome.
The one stubborn is the kicking off…..I just don’t get it. Kick the damn thing into the end zone…..every time.

The problem with some of it, especially the Barber drop, is that I would be willing to bet that if he was regularly dropping them in practice, he would not be our punter.

I would also bet that if I wrote every sentence that poorly I would not have graduated college.

I heard that was due to CB having trouble getting used to Theus having a higher velocity on his snap than Frix did last year. If that’s the case, that’s something you address with lots and lots of practice.
LikeLike
The retarded part of that is this….both Theus and Cb are not going to need to be in every drill. Thus, they should have plenty of time to get down the snapping. Hell, I would have all players that touch the ball on special teams working on it every practice.

And there’s no law against the two of them spending some extra time before, or after, practice getting in extra reps.

That’s the point. This HAS BEEN fixable for quite some time, yet the coaching staff has failed to fix it. Hence the frustration of the fan base.

It wasn’t his answer, it was the mildness in which he acknowledged the problem, as if his truck needed washing but he knows where the hose is. I think if he’d said “I know, the fans know, everybody knows this has got to stop, it’s gone on too long, it’s cost us too many games, and I’m going to stop it.”

Aside from the snapping issues, the special teams gaffes have all been different. (i contend the punt would have been blocked with a good snaps). As a result, other than the obvious fact of having special teams gaffes, its hard to say its
I don’t get the “dedicated” special teams coach argument. I really don’t. If someone can make the case with a strong data based argument that teams with dedicated ST coaches have better performance, I am all ears. You have to look at teams that with ST coaches that are both good and bad at it. We don’t know if it is correlation or causation. We have NEVER had snapping problems in the other 13 years of Richt’s tenure. Ironically, when we award a scholaship to a guy as a long snapper (and for having a brother who is a 5 star OT), he turns out to struggle. I am betting we can get those fixed.
I maintain the kickoff return for a TD had a lot of blocks in the back and our coverage this year has otherwise been very good.
Obviously, eliminating ST gaffes like we have had the first 3 games is important to winning this week.

Yea, CMR, it’s very correctable, just let Barber kick the damn ball out of the end zone, and I promise there won’t be any more run backs for a TD! But CMR won’t do that, why? because he is a stubburn person. He’s going to do it his way!
