Casualty of war

According to Air Force’s associate athletic director, there is a chance this Saturday’s Air Force-Navy game may not be played because of the federal government shutdown.

Garnhart explained that upper-class cadets at the Air Force Academy are considered military personnel, which means they could be subject to travel restrictions under the shutdown.

You gotta love this country.

Maybe EA Sports and Emmert could sponsor their travel as a gesture if goodwill.

We’re to the point where everything is politicized. I wonder if they will close the federal golf courses. The panda-cam is still on 24 hours a day at the National Zoo. The saddest story is of the WW2 Vets being turned away at the memorial…all to make a stupid, damn point.

Eh, the park rangers put up barriers at the memorial, but the vets busted through to do their thing. Awesome.

Apparently the panda cam is off because somebody has to monitor it. You know what? I don’t think I ought to be taxed to pay for a damned panda cam. The panda cam is an excellent example of why the govt is getting shut down to begin with.

They are the AIR FORCE academy. Stick’em all in T-37’s and call it a training flight to Maryland. Use the politicians as bombing targets. (just kidding NSA…just kidding!)

    Air Force is 1-4.

Less press conferences and more practice isn’t such as bad thing.

I’ll be for reopening the federal govt for business when the federal govt can show that it can be run like a business. $17T in debt has consequences, as painful or ridiculous as they may seem. And if all this somehow reduces the size of our immense federal govt then that is a blessing for all Americans, even those too obtuse to realize it.

The real insanity is that American citizens are not demanding an answer as to how we will repay the debt. People just go about their business as if there is no problem. Let me tell you all something – we have a BIG fucking problem and it needs to be solved and the answer isn’t to simply approve the ability borrow MORE.

As this relates to Obamacare, looks like things got started in typical govt fashion.

I am sure they will also cancel classes. No money to pay anyone to teach or even run the lights and a/c.

The only reason these fuckers are wiling to shut down the government is because they still get their paychecks. There would be no such thing as a shutdown if Congress lost their paychecks. 800,000 people, most in the middle class, get sent home, including people like FDA inspectors. I hope every single asshole in Congress gets food poisoning.

Don’t kid yourself, Sam. Taking their paycheck is like fining an NBA player. They live a different life than you and I. And if getting rich in Congress weren’t enough, most of ’em now become lobbyists on the Hill afterwards, with ridiculous salaries and perks.

You’re right. I wish I could say otherwise, but you’re right. I just wish something could be done to them that hurts their pockets as badly as they hurt the pockets of others.

I contend the way to get Congress to act is to have the FCC declare a moratorium on all television except the news. Turn off the ‘circus’ and Americans will respond
