The Roy Adams link needs a password once you get to the NYT.

I think that Conley is turning into a really great leader and I am glad to have him healthy and bringing the young guys along. There is solid leadership on this team.

+1000 These newbie coaches have not gotten the fact that the SEC refs are in the bag for the ranked teams. Year after year the same refs screw up in the same way and it always seems to be in favor of the highest ranked team. At least the Big 12 has the same arrangement given the way Texas got away with not one but two fumbles last week. Wink wink nod nod we are the referees.

Roy Adams is ” a throwback to a more romantic time.” What Paul means is he’s a throwback to a time when Bama had 160 kids on scholarship and you could hand out money after the game…

If the NCAA actually had investigators they sho would be checkin Roy’s guest list every week. “I don’t like those rules so I won’t follow them.” What is it about Memphis that seems to attract these folks?

New receivers, new routes to learn, experience QB expecting them to make the right decision/read during heat of game = potential INT’s. Ughhhh…..

disagree. Give AM time and he’ll find a receiver open. He’s in a zone. the only way to stop our O is for the Oline to play poorly. If they can protect and open a few holes, the O can remain balanced with the best QB in the nation running the show. The O will be fine; the D needs to improve. And Special teams are terrible. We can’t let teams back into games once we have them down. Smell blood and go for the throats. That’s what should’ve happened last week with a 17-3 lead.

Well we are a sporting team that does not want to make the other team feel bad. We have our special teams as a governor on our great O. Once the O builds up a lead it is the Special Teams job to let the poor downtrodden opponent back in the game. What would be the fun if we were like Alabama and just beat the hell out of lesser opponents? We like a degree of difficulty and we get it through our totally uncoached and wacky Special Teams. If any of us think we can win the BCS with 1/3 of our team giving away points and 1/3 of our team unable to stop the Little Sisters of the Poor, you are crazy. We lose at least two more and maybe more.

Fun times, 69. Hope I’m sitting next to you on Saturday. Except for the part where our kicker has boomed two 55+ FGs in huge games and huge moments, made a 42 yard game winner in OT right down the middle and that we recovered a muffed punt because we had about 7 guys in position to turn the momentum in the LSU game.

It’s always a mixed back. Every team struggles with that from time to time. I see a team that is finding a way to win without playing their best. But I’m sure you’re right. They like playing middle of the road to keep it close.

I get the tongue in cheek. I’m just tired of fans dogging this team. This group is the most fun group of Dawgs to pull for in a loooooooooong time. A long time. And I’m happy being Georgia. Don’t really want to be Alabama.

+1. I think he must sit near me at home games. There is an idiot who is always and only loud when things aren’t perfect. We all turn around and look at him like he is nuts but he won’t shut up.

Notice the Gators are a mere plus 1 in turnovers. May the regression to the mean continue in SEC play.

I don’t get all the Tibbs and Erdman talk, with freshman Davis getting 40+ y/p/c. And why have they thrown to him only once in the last two games, after losing the other speed guys?

“And why have they thrown to him only once in the last two games”

He’s being punished for not making fair catches on the punt returns he used to make?

  8. RE: officiating mistakes… if Stoops got them to admit they were wrong, kudos to him.

In this “catch“”, you can clearly see the WR secured the ball against his chest and not with his hands. That is important because of the definition of a catch:

New language to clarify “catch” (2‐4‐3) E
    Catch, Interception, Recovery
    Article 3.
    a. To catch a ball means that a player:
    1. secures control of a live ball in flight with his hands or arms before the ball
    touches the ground
    , and
    2. touches the ground in bounds with any part of his body, and then
    3. maintains control of the ball long enough to enable him to perform an act
common to the game, i.e., long enough to pitch or hand the ball, advance it,
avoid or ward off an opponent, etc., and
    4. satisfies paragraphs b, c, and d below.

In the play in question, he touched the ball with his hands in bounds, but he did not secure it with his hands. He secured it against his body in flight. If he had secured it with his hands, he wouldn’t have pinned it against his chest. He would have tucked it. An LSU receiver did the exact same thing against UGA the week prior. He secured the ball a solid two or three feet out of bounds, but he was awarded a catch because he first touched it in-bounds. I think the rules pretty clearly indicate that it is only a catch if he secures it in-bounds. How either of those two catches were upheld upon review still confounds me.

I haven’t had time to scour the boards the past couple of days so sorry if this has already been asked, but I see no mention of Uriah Lemay as a candidate to help out.
