The SEC East is a tough neighborhood, Mizzou.

It’s also a mess, which is the best thing Georgia could get right now.

Now just go to Jacksonville and win, Dawgs.

    I wud ABSOLUTELY love to root against yech & pull for Johnny Ftbll on the last wkend of the reg season. I know we need some help before hand..but I like J Ftball as hard as I try not to. How sweet it wud be to beat tht school in Atl & JF get us to hot Lanta. So go vuls? Or ole miss? Whtevr dude..

        Here’s wht I meant – as I’m inebriated now. We win out, Mizzou looses to ole miss or tenn, then- as we are handing tech (or yech) the beating of the century, J Ftbll somehow beats Mizzou and thts enuf to send us to Atl. Bammer looks unbeatable, but then again, I thought that was the case b4 last yrs game. At this pt, getting to Atl wud be an incredible achievement.

      Ole Miss. And Johnny Footballe. Maybe. Hopefully. Possibly. Let’s just win out if we can and see how the chips fall. If Richt gets us to Atlanta this year I think we should put up a statue of him and Aaron with bird fingers on the front steps of the AJC HQ.

      Seriously though regardless of how the season plays out, kudos to Mizzou for rebounding from the terrible injuries last season to have a great season. If anything, tonight just proves its a freakin grind. They are a formidable team and they dropped one to an East team who’s starting QB entered the game towards the end of the third (WTF is up with that?). My faith in the conference is restored.

    I am not one for saying “wait until next year”, especially when we lots oif great football on tap before this season is over, but we are going to have a pretty damned good team next year. I don’t think we have enough of a team left to win a title this year but I will pull as hard as anyone until every little flame has died out. But given the crappy hand the football gods dealt us this year, I just know we are due a few good bounces in 2014 and we should have the talent to run with any opportunity that comes our way.

      +1 – we have a lot still to play for – East and potential SEC title. Beat the big 3 + Tenn for three years in a row. Senior class leaves with a 3-1 record vs UF. Possibly win a 3rd game against a top 10 opponent this season on the Plains. Run this state again in Atlanta.

      Let’s hit the reset button on the season today and GATA in Jax Saturday!

          Yeah, I’m in the same boat. Maybe if we were playing in Athens, and we stayed completely healthy between now and then. But at this rate, I expect us to get embarrassed on the Plains.

            Embarrassed is a strong word. Nick Marshall isn’t Cam Newton. I’m not sure we can win the game because we don’t have the outside threat, but we can beat the Tigers if we play well.

              Not trying to be a ‘Debbie Downer’ here, but at this point, I’ll honestly be surprised if we keep it to within a couple TDs. My sense is that things finally started to click for Auburn a few weeks ago, and their offense has looked basically unstoppable ever since. In the meantime, our defense is really, really bad. And the supposed “signs of improvement” against Vandy now look more like Vandy’s offense just being pretty bad itself … especially after being held to fewer points by the SEC’s *worst* defense in Texas A&M.

              So our only hope, it seems, will be to win yet another shoot-out. But as we’ve already learned, painfully, that’s just not going to happen with our crippled offense. Even assuming that we have Gurley back at 100%, I just don’t get the feeling that Murray is *at all* comfortable throwing the ball to this 2nd-string receiving corps. Or maybe it’s Bobo that’s uncomfortable. Either way, Murray’s QB rating for the past 3 games: 129.6, 122.8, 84.2. Granted, that should improve a bit when Gurley returns; but gone are the days of his 244.2 showing against the ‘Cocks.

              I won’t go so far as to make an actual prediction, especially since so much can happen between now and then. But at *this* point, I don’t see any reason to think that we can beat a hot and confident Auburn team in their own house. It would just fit *so well* with the overall narrative of this season for Auburn to beat us handily, … and then get absolutely trounced by Alabama.

                I think you make good and reasonable points. I mean, we just lost to Vandy and Mizzou. Clemson beat us at nearly full strength.

                We need to win the Cocktail Party before anything else matters. And that probably won’t be easy. I’m not sure how we are already worrying about those other games.

                With reference to the Dawgs having to play Auburn “at their house”:

                Since Georgia and Auburn started playing home and home in 1960, the Dawgs have won 15, lost 10, and tied 2 at Cliff Hare/Jordan Hare.

                I share your concern about the improved PlainTigerEagles, but home field advantage should not be a factor.

                And at this point, job one for the Dawgs is to beat the Gators. Forget about rankings and the what-ifs of the future schedule.

                  I appreciate the historical record but it is an advantage to play at home in CFB, and it isn’t even debatable. How much varies by stadiums, talent is still the key difference, and preparation/execution is huge….but home field is always a plus.

    Outside of the top 5, no ranked teams appear to be any good. The pollsters may have to put us back in the top 25 again today with Nebraska losing to Minnesota and VT losing to Duke. Surely we move ahead of them.

    By the way, I *almost* felt bad for Missouri fans … until I visited a few Missouri websites and saw comment after comment about how they’re cursed. I’m sorry, but *they’re* cursed?! Take a look at this list, Missouri fans, and then try to tell me that your team is cursed …

    In a injury-free SEC, Missouri would likely be 1-3 in conference right now, and absolutely no one would be paying them any attention at all. I mean, hell, if Connor Shaw had simply played all 4 quarters last night, South Carolina wins by 2 TDs.

    Anybody notice much of Clowney last night? No, didn’t think so. In fact, Mizzou was running right at him quite often. At times, he seemed totally disengaged, especially toward the end of the game.

      I’m thinking that Clowney decided a while back to play *just enough* to keep his projected overall #1 spot in the draft. So for 1 or 2 plays each game, he’ll look like his old self. Just enough for a decent highlight reel.
