  1. Is there a REAL $10 mil hanging from a tree somewhere in the lone star state?

I think this pretty much sums up the Long love…

“Long, who was recently named the chairman of the 13-member College Football Playoff selection committee,”

Can’t hurt having this guy on your payroll… 🙂

At the SEC spring meetings in May, Texas A&M president R. Bowen Loftin was asked by ESPN if he had anything to say about Texas.

“I don’t have to anymore,” Loftin said. “It’s not relevant to us anymore.”

That’s a crock of sh*t if I’ve ever heard one and not at all representative of the A&M fanbase. I don’t know a single Aggie, and I know quite a few, that isn’t obsessed with UT in some way. It may well happen at some point, but I don’t see a day anytime soon when they’re NOT trying to get out of big brother’s shadow.

Yep. Currently, they’re obsessed with telling you how they don’t think about Texas. But it’s still there. (As it should be, IMHO.)

Jeff Long is paying Bielema in excess of $5 million/year. That should be proof enough that he is a moron.

Agreed. And how was Long praised for his handling of the Petrino firing? Seemed like he looked like a fool for hiring him in the first place as I remember it and an even bigger fool for initially backing him after the incident.

I agree. how hard is it to fire a guy who did what Petrino did? Honestly, I get that Petrino provided him multiple grounds for termination (lying, having the woman on the Arkansas football payroll, etc.) That said, there are a LOT worse things that have been forgiven in college football. The real challenge would have been to work with Petrino to help him regain credibility. there is ZERO doubt in my mind that Petrino is the closest thing to an elite coach that they will ever hire.

That said, I could totally give him the respect for saying, “we have higher standards for personal conduct at Arkansas” but for the fact that the guy he hired came with some level of speculation about his own personal conduct in Madison around drinking and fans. further, neither he nor his wife have any sense of appropriate social media behavior, which would seem stupid but probably matters in this era.

I dunno how great a QB he’ll turn out to be, but the fact that he’s waited patiently, has a sense of humor and actually uses the word “funky” tells me Hutson Mason was raised right. I just hope his on field play turns out to be groovy–that’d be far out, man.

If Hutson Mason were to pull a Tee Martin next year, we’d NEVER hear the end of it. It’s a problem I’d like to have. I hope he’s as good as his die hard supporters have claimed.

As much a s many Dawg fans try to dismiss it, the Thursday night numbers for viewership are very impressive, and growing. Such a concentration because of lack of “clutter”, and recruits/media/.fans are all there. I have never advocated a Thursday night game in Athens, logistically almost impossible anyway, but a road Thursday night game would be very welcome to me. Top programs do it, so we aren’t above it and there are times where the extra days of prep for the next game would be very beneficial (say Clemson next year on Thursday night, or Boise game we played in the Dome.) Very excited about tonight’s games, wish there was a little more spread on the time difference. I believe the Ducks will truck Stanford but home dogs are really tough on Thursdays. Better get your popcorn ready!

Have six but only two visible from one viewing spot. Unfortunately, on eof those is on the screened in porch and wind chills are already in the thirties here as the sun is going down. Might have to put new batteries in the remotes for all the switching back and forth I will be doing when the West Coast game starts. Still, good times….love this time of year.

Hudson Mason seems to have a great attitude. I’m sure he’s going to be a very good QB and team leader. One things for sure..he’s going to have a great surrounding cast…I hope we get to see him against some of UGA’s remaining foes this year….esp. in a bowl game…
And how emotional is it going to be when AM takes his final series between the hedges? He should get a ten minute ovation!

To add to my above post….It should come against Kentucky…sometime in the third or fourth quarter….Aaron Murray will take his final snap in Sanford Stadium. I hope it’s a touchdown pass…a long one…or maybe a scoring run on a QB keeper…. We’re gonna miss that Dawg.

“Honestly, I don’t get the Jeff Long love.”

Jeff deserves the love for giving JL only a 1 year contract but still making the bankruptcy trustee work? Additionally, Jeff now promises to read credit reports on new applicants

I know it’s not on your buffet, Senator, but this thread is just too good not to share:

The Swampgas forum is even now a thing to savor. Visiting other CFB comment sites – including many Dawg sites – makes me appreciate this one all the more.
