On the Plains, they really don’t care what you think.

Damn. I forgot to add one thing to this week’s observations post that cracked me up.  At one point as I’m sitting there, a promotional video appeared on the big screen, with Cam Newton in a room somewhere with what I guess were Auburn students… and laptop computers.  I kid you not.

I couldn’t tell if they were Dells, though.  Still, you’ve got to admire the cheekiness.

I wasn’t shocked to see that at all. They are quite proud of Cammie. Soon they will be known as Reject U. Used to be that I could tolerate Auburn fans. Now they are second only to Gators in terms of disdain.

It was also going to do double-duty as an Apple infomercial for non-flying laptops co-starring Charles Barkley but when Gnarls saw the whippet he could not overcome the overwhelming urge to take a cab to Victoryland Greyhound Park

I did think it was funny to show a guy who did not graduate college in a video bragging on their academics. He only went to Auburn for one year! And even then, he only went there because 1) he got kicked out of UF for being a thief and cheating on tests (maybe Auburn was the perfect place for him academically?) and 2) they won the bidding war for him over MSU.

  5. That’s pretty funny. I’m guessing AU current top recruiters are actually bail bondsmen in other University towns.

Just remember the words of the Ole Ball Sac when informed of the fire in the Auburn library. “Dang that terrible they had some books that hadn’t been colored in yet.”

AU is reject U and has been for 30 years or more but we’ve seen Auburn employ this tactic more often over the past 10 years. In fact, we’ve seen Rudi Johnson, Kenny Irons, Cam Newton, Nick Fairley, and now Nick Marshall all get “second chances” at auburn. And those names are all off the top of my head, could easily find more with additional research. They make a living raiding the rosters at places like that community college in Kansas, and other temporary spots for losers, thieves, and thugs. Kenny Irons was so fucking stupid that he couldn’t even make grades at South Carolina and guess where he eventually pops up for one season – yep, Auburn. I mean, what does it say about a school that accepts the academic rejects from South Carolina? Get the fuck outta here. And poor Kenny, his infraction was merely benign compared to the typical auburn immigrant.

Did you all catch the auburn TD run where Danielson said the former player from georgia just handed off to the former player at alabama?

Their morals and standards are different (lower) than those schools who tend to grow their teams organically, not the lazy way via junior colleges and rejects. But hey, that’s how they do things since they can’t win by playing by the same rules as everyone else.

This reminds me of my first visits to the plains in the late 80’s or early 90’s. Before the game aubie recognize the head official was retiring and had a ceremony at midfield presenting him with a Rolex. We still laugh about that. Also auburn had a small white receiver named Freddy Weygand. I think Freddy played 12 years for Auburn. These are true examples of the auburn way. They are completely unaware of what a F’ing joke they are.

Don’t know if it has been noted elsewhere, but Gus Malzahn acts like an over-served frat boy on the sideline. I’ve never seen a HC fist pump and celebrate in the manner Ole Gus did on Saturday. Granted, the first 3 QTR’s had much to celebrate, but it seemed out of place in D-1 football.

Sure, Spurrier acts up when times are bad, but he’s a helluva lot more circumspect when his team scores.

I’ve made the observation multiple times that Auburn is the most amoral program in the country. When I’ve pointed that out to Auburn people, they immediately resort to “I know you are, but what am I” tactics and start talking about all of the thugs at Georgia. It appears that an Auburn education doesn’t teach you how to distinguish between “amoral” and “immoral”.

Cam Newton is one hell of a football player.

The holier-than-thou attitude some our fans use to appease themselves for repeated football failures just chaps me.

Remember, we admitted Nick Marshall, Isaiah Crowell, and Zach Mettenburger to our institution and gave them scholarships, too. It’s not like our academic requirements for football players are pristine, either.

Ok Joe, I’ll play. No one said Newton isn’t a great football player. What we do say is that he was another example of a D-I reject who miraculously would up at Auburn. Your point about Marshall, Crowell, and Mettenberger has to be qualified by the fact that they were admitted to GA out of high school, not rejects from another division I school. Look, every school has their idiots, but no one takes it to the level as Auburn does, therefore, Reject U. Do your own research and report back.

Under our culture, they became criminals.

Under Auburn’s and LSU’s culture, they became leaders.

Too many of our fans are drinking the higher standards koolaid.

How did Cam Newton become a leader at Auburn? He was only part of the program for a semester.
