Flawed BCS? Corch is just sayin’.

You gotta love the way Urban Meyer calibrates the validity of college football’s national title format.

“Without spending much time on it, because it’s not fair to our team for me to spend much time on it, I will say this — I think it’s a flawed system,” Meyer said Monday. “But when you logically think about what the BCS people have done, and which obviously we’re all part of, I think it was great for a while. I think you take an imperfect system and you do the best you can without hosting a playoff.”

Gee, “great for a while”?  I wonder when that was.

Flash back to Florida, 2006. Ohio State coach Jim Tressel was known as “Senator,” but “Mayor” Meyer was no political slouch.

It remains a somewhat sore and squishy subject, but Meyer became embroiled in BCS politics in 2006 when, as Florida coach, he made waves by saying before the final polls came out that the national championship game should not be a rematch between Ohio State and Michigan.

“A rematch would be unfair to Ohio State, and it would be unfair to the country,” Meyer said. “I just don’t believe that’s the thing to do. How do you tell Ohio State they have to go beat the same team twice? (Michigan) had their chance,” Meyer said the day after No. 1 Ohio State narrowly defeated No. 2 Michigan 42-39.

Yes, those were happier times, when college football was being fair to all of us.  But those days are gone, evidently.  At least we’re getting a new playoff system, though.  That ought to bring some satisfaction to Corch, right?  Well, at least until Ohio State’s outside looking in again.

“I imagine there’s going to be controversy with the playoffs too, now. It’s not a 64-team playoff; you can only have four guys. What’s that fifth team going to feel like?”

I’m sure he’ll let us know when it happens to him.

Yeah. It was an unfair system when he was unbeaten at Utah in 2004. It was very fair when he was at Florida in 2006 and 2008. It is unfair now at Ohio State.

    Love the consistency.

He didn’t have a problem with the bcs in 2008 when the GPOOG got to win a national title while USC sat home. To this day, I wish OU had lost that year because I believe that USC defense in 08 would have broke Tebow like bama did in 09.

ROTFL! Meyer is such a tool. Anytime he opens his mouth, he’s just not capable of being anything else. Although I actually wonder if he isn’t secretly relieved at not having to face Alabama or for that matter, Florida State. His last experiences with those two were very traumatic for someone as sensitive as he is. Bad enough to drive him out of the Southeast.

What a prick. I try to tell people that even though I hate Spurrier, if he was our coach I would love him.

I wouldn’t want corch anywhere, anytime, any reason. A real sour douchebag.

As much as I hate the 5 “power” conferences’ champions not getting a spot into a playoff, it is thrilling to see Corch as a victim. I am pleased the voters have minimized any chance they get into the Top 2, love to hear tosu fans cry. It will be very exciting to watch Oregon (probably) dismantle the Suckeyes on January 1. I think there are 3-4 PAC12 teams that would also beat them but the Ducks have the best chance of burying them.

Like they did Stanford? I am not a fan of the Buckeyes…in fact I can think of few teams I like less (maybe Al Qaida). That being said, they are pretty good this year and they beat the crap out of Oregon last time they met in the Rose Bowl.

We will see, I am not saying tosu isn’t a good team, they are, but the best claim they can make is they are (maybe) the best team in the bigwhatever conference. Until we get a system that allows them to represent that group on an automatic basis, they deserve to be left out this season. It isn’t their fault that the conference sucks even more than usual, but their resume does not make them a proven Top 10 team, imo.

Look up Stanford’s pass D stats this season. Then look at AnOSU’s. I think Oregon would handle it.

It’s a bit ironic considering the drubbing his 2006 Florida team (and Miles’ 2007 LSU team) put on OSU is probably the main reason OSU isn’t getting a lot of respect just for being undefeated.

Why is it that the first thing Burbon Liar did was to cancel the games with UGA ? He screams that OSU is unbeaten, who have they played ?, are these not the players that Tressel recruited ? Corch has a way to go, I would think.. “GO DAWGS”

Forgive my ignorance Senator, but what is the story behind calling him “Corch”?

Perhaps “Couche” (Coach Douche) would work as well.
