Serious question here, because I don’t make a habit of following Alabama football: Is AJ McCarron even THEIR best quarterback ever? Prior to the last decade, I’m unfamiliar with Bama QBs besides the Snake.

He’s got wins, pretty solid stats, but at the same time, he’s never had to put the team on his shoulders. Croyle was probably a better qb for Bama and DID put the team on his shoulders several times.

I can’t think of a time McCarron carried his team to victory. On the other hand, I can’t think of a game he lost for them either. He’s a good QB and yes, SI is trolling us.

It’s easy to not lose a game for your team when you know the entire time you just have to perform *decent* to win. Mistakes usually happen when QBs are trying to make big plays. McCarron doesn’t have the burden of needing to make a big play all by himself.

Thanks Senator. I figured there was one but I don’t follow Bammer enough. I still think McCarron is merely a good QB on a great team.

Which he played terrible in for some stretches and threw the game-winning pass on a screen play that LSU herped the derp on. Additionally, if Les punts instead of goes for a long FG on 4th down, Bama’s pinned deep with zero timeouts.

Not *necessarily* disagreeing with you, but McCarron has never done anything like Murray did against Auburn for the last 9 minutes.

If I recall correctly, LSU applied pressure the entire game and really had McCarron off his game. Then on the last (game-winning) drive, they went into prevent and he picked them apart. LSU had them right between their sights last year, until they didn’t any more.

He didn’t totally lose the TAMU game last year, but he had gone several games without throwing an INT, then threw two that game, including one at the goal line with less than 2 minutes left, effectively icing the win for the Aggies.

Does a ride to DQ and a chili cheese dog qualify as an improper benefit?

Just when I think I couldn’t like CMR anymore, Chili Dogs at DQ? I hope it was the one behind the Varsity. Spent many a hot night there eating ice cream sundaes.

ALso, Glad I cancelled my SI this year. That issue would have gone straight into the recycling bin.

Great points about Murray in the Elkon article.

Count me as one who considers McCarron highly overrated…sort of a Trent Dilfer don’t-screw-things-up kind of QB. It will be interesting to see which NFL team wastes an early draft pick.

I would argue that McCarron is not the best simply because when you talk about Alabama you talk about their defense. Offense is usually an afterthought. He’s certainly a good QB, but to say best ever is a joke. If I could choose to have any QB start for my team, McCarron would be 3rd or 4th choice out of the SEC alone.

Let’s go to the 9 game SEC schedule and drop the automatic cross division games. I hate Auburn and their lying, cheating, thugging, criminal culture. F’ em and bring on the West rotation.

No doubt Elkon threw some gas on the “defensive” issues at UGA since BVG left. Dawgs need a D coaching staff and roster in the framework of an Erk Russell or VanGorder. Has that has separated us from a SEC title? More than likely. Think back to that deep pass in the SECGC. Rodney Gardner did you have your OC dial that up on the Plains?

Can TG’s scheme stop the deep ball? How many times do we have to see this. Well, it has become a reoccuring play the Dawg fans have suffered thru lately!

I also remember a lot of talk about how great Jay Barker was because of all of his wins. Once he got beyond college, he never did much. Just a effective piece of a really good team…a really good team built around defense. I thnk that McCarron is better than Barker, but not the best in school history. However, I think he’ll be a decent pro. Of course, I’ve seen too many pictures of the chest tat to really respect him.

Really enjoyed the Emerson piece on Lynch. Seems like a good kid. Glad he decided to come south for college.

The SI version also comes in audio form.

Those with left ventricular outflow obstruction (aortic stenosis, idiopathic hypertrophic subaortic stenosis) and those with severely impaired autonomic control of blood pressure or rapid hardening of the artery should fasten seatbelts before attempting to read and listen.

In the event of an experience that persists longer than 4 minutes, the patient should seek immediate medical assistance from University of Alabama Athletic Director who will tell you to go away. If not treated immediately, tissue damage and permanent loss of competency could result.

CMR self-reports violation, as being ‘So Good It’s RiDQulous.’

Emmert responds with, ‘We treat you right.” Suspends Artie’s wicked successor, Jay Rome, for first four games of 2014.

When blamed for harshing the mellow of Bobo, Emmert says back off, it would have been a mandatory five game suspension had Dilly Bars been involved.

Pure gold! Sadly this could be completely true as well, there is absolutely nothing that the NCAA could or could not do at this point to surprise me. Pay a player=1 day secret suspension, fully restored eligibility
Sell a game worn jersey=4 game suspension (don’t F with us or it will be 5)

      Seems fair….

Gotta love DQ, or the Brazier as my mom called it.

Years ago, 5 mins in to a long drive our 4 yr old daughter “has to go”. First choice is the Dairy Queen so we park & run her in. After she goes but before we leave, she asks if she can “see the Queen”.
