My SEC Power Poll ballot, Week 13

It’s a week that saw Florida fall from the ranks of the mediocre to the truly bad, but there were other developments that managed to sharpen the pecking order.

  1. Alabama.  How often do you think Nick Saban is going to remind his team this week about what happened in the last big Iron Bowl matchup?
  2. Missouri.  This is one tough football team.  And that season-ender doesn’t look quite as daunting now.
  3. Auburn.  The Tigers have Alabama right where they want them.
  4. South Carolina.  I don’t know what I’m enjoying more, Spurrier hypocritically rooting for a cross-divisional loss, or the prospect of the ‘Cocks beating the East representative in the SECCG for the third straight year with nothing to show for it.
  5. LSU.  Les Miles owns Johnny Football.
  6. Texas A&M.  We already knew the Aggies didn’t have a defense, so when the offense doesn’t show up, ugly is what you get.
  7. Georgia.  Just when you think it’s safe to go back in the water…
  8. Ole Miss.  Still not ready for prime time.
  9. Vanderbilt.  4-4 in conference play, despite being outgained by 75 yards per game.  Some luck, but some good coaching, too.
  10. Mississippi State.  Won the SEC West’s battle of the dipshits.  In overtime.  Still, if you’re Dan Mullen, a win’s a win at this point.
  11. Tennessee.  May be time to ditch those gray uniforms, fellas.
  12. Florida.  Which is more amazing, that the Gators lost to a team that didn’t complete a pass, or that Jeremy Foley still thinks Boom is the man to fix things next season?
  13. Arkansas.  Bret Bielema’s door prize for losing his seventh conference game in a row is a trip to lovely Baton Rouge to close out the season.
  14. Kentucky.  The ‘Cats gave up more points to a beat up Georgia squad than any other team they’ve played this season.  Yeah, it’s not getting better.

Saban is 0-4 versus Auburn teams with 9 or more wins.

I can’t be for Spurrier. Yay, the pleasure I imagine in seeing them be second in the East to a team they beat yet AGAIN. Let the whining commence, I say.

I think UGA beats TAM on a neutral field.

    • You may be right. That was my closest call of the week.

I have to admit that I wince at the thought of Georgia’s secondary covering Evans, though. Trying to cover, I should say.

Georgia is better than A&M and you should rank the Dawgs higher than the Aggies. A&M doesn’t have a pass defense. Receivers run around in their defensive backfield uncovered all the time. Even when the DBs for A&M have the receiver covered they do stupid stuff like tip the ball to the receiver…wait….

    TJ Moseley and Kirby Smart.
Now, if, by chance Mason goes down Saturday, who goes in?
How much will the passing game change with HM? GT’s DC will have had 2 weeks to get ready. Chance for HM to make plays, play smart and quick. Would the Dawgs [OC and OLC] run an extra tackle to one side against GT?

I don’t see SC that high, and probably A&M is in that category as well. I think we were better than SC early in the season, and still believe that is true today. I really hope Mizzou holds serve at home this weekend because SC cannot make a decent game against either Auburn or Bama. They will get blown out like they did the only other time they ever made it to the Dome. We deserve a better SECCG than that. Mizzou has two excellent DEs and Washington is the best receiver in the SEC, imo. Don’t think can beat Alabama but with us decimated, they are the only team that can make the game competitive.
