If the Gators got beat in the Swamp before 1990, would it make a sound?

When exactly was the last time Florida was a 26.5-point home dog in a football game?

The over/under is 44, which means Vegas believes the Gators won’t crack double digits on the scoreboard Saturday.  Yoogly.

The Gators never got beat in the Swamp before 1990 because the Gators never played football before 1990. Everybody knows that.

  2. FSU wwants/neds style points and they have the team do get them. Take the Noles and the Over. I’m thinking something like 49-3 but possibly 49-10. Hell, Georgia was on pace to score 46 after one half, just missed the accelerator and found the brake instead.

Here’s hoping the spread is a little low! For this coming weekend I’m hoping the Dawgs, Tigers (Mizzou version) and Noles roll. That would mean a win over nerds, the old ball coach doesn’t win the SECEast once again, despite beating the winner, and Boom falls to 4-8. How good would that be? Only vague point is do I root for Bammer to beat the Second Chance a Tigers to ruin their season? Not a big Bammer fan but I guess I hate the barn more. Go Dawgs!

Yes, you want to root against Auburn. Remember Nick Fairley?

This. I will ALWAYS root against auburn. I don’t care if they are playing the Taliban. That garbage in 2010, specifically Fairley and Trooper running around on the field afterward, is an image I cannot seem to shake.

We have to root for Bama because an Auburn win will put Corch in the BCS championship game. Ugh.

No, no. Root for Bama, but then root for Mizzou and Michigan State next weekend. (I’m also convinced Mizzou is much more competitive matchup for Bama than Sakerlina would be, but part of that is shock that the Cocks were nearly beaten by a bad, bad UF team starting a 3rd string QB.)

Seems like I remember you speaking about the Gators being over rated in the pre season Senator. Great prognostication!

Runner up maybe. Nothing can match “26-20 Boom goes the dynamite.” Nov. 23, 2013, GTP header when Boom almost blew his cover.

I am glad we beat FL but in some way I would like them to beat FSU the charges against their quarterback if pressed are pretty serious. I don’t know if I feel that way because I am a woman and mother of two daughters or if I would feel that way if I was a man. I was glad when Mettenberger was gone.

In Florida’s last losing season, only one opponent failed to beat the gators.

If I remember correctly (always debatable), “The Swamp” didn’t exist until 1990 because Spurrier first coined the term for Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Either way it’s nice for the Spurrier Gators to get a large dose of perspective on their team.

So, Joyridingdawg, IF, that is IF, this dude is a rapist, you’re cool w him winning the Hiesman & maybe a Natl Chmp? You know, cuz he’s entertaining on a football field??
I’m not sayin it’s right, but I think just the suspicion alone will keep him from the Heisman.

      • I do not care who wins the Heisman. I am just saying that people who dwell on others private lives no matter what the issues are the kind of people that draw incorrect conclusions. Opinions about players and celebrities, especially when the info comes from the media, which is not complete or accurate, show their small minded ignorance. Speaking for myself, I think it is wrong to pass any kind of judgement on anyone, whether you know them or not. Of course, some people are so self righteous that they can’t pass up the opportunity to condemn others. Makes them feel better about themselves.

I don’t dwell on the public lives of celebrities or athletes but that doesn’t mean I want my athletes to be thugs. I don’t need to feel superior to anyone one or self righteous. It looks like you are doing a great job of accomplishing that. I have an issue with a FSU and the investigation being swept under the rug. A friend of my daughter was assaulted by an athlete and I how hard it is to press charges and the damages done. I don’t want a March to judgement like what happened at Duke but it hard to believe it needed to stretch out this long.

Wow, I didn’t read that in his comments at all. Straw man much?

If he’s convicted, or even charged for that matter, the Heisman will be stripped along with possibly the NC. He’ll also get a lengthy prison sentence. Justice will be served if he’s guilty and there’s no reason to dish it out prematurely without all of the facts.

My point is – I think that, right or wrong, the Heisman voters/committee avoid him like the plague just b/c they don’t won’t to risk it being true. They don’t wanna have to strip it in the future – so come on down McCarron or whoever (I really don’t care who wins).
However I think the MNC plays out differently. If they get there they do, if not they don’t but I don’t think this stuff willl effect their participation. Unless he comes up guilty before hand. And even then they may let Fla St play in the game anyway depending..

I originally wanted an FSU beat down of the Gators in the Swamp, but after reading how 75% of gator ticket holders are selling their tickets to FSU fans and in reading about the calls to fire the coaching staff, I think it would be fantastic to see the gator fans heads explode at a huge win over FSU in the swamp that they didn’t get to see and that would most likely give their coaching staff a victory to hang their hat on. UF would still have all the fun stuff, losing season, no bowl etc but a victory would leave so many fun talking points.

Not going to happen but I would not be sad if it did.
