If you’re a Georgia defender, Paul Johnson is just like Jimmy Williamson.
Defensive players don’t like dealing with triple-option offenses like Georgia Tech (7-4) and Georgia Southern run, and specifically don’t like having to keep their eyes out for pesky offensive linemen who consistently dive at their knees.
“It’s just like being out on the streets: you’ve got to keep your head on a swivel and watch your surroundings,” Smith said. “Protect yourself at all times.”
Sometimes players can’t play because of suspension and sometimes they can’t play because their knees are suspended.
Smith’s first substantial playing time actually came as the result of an illegal chop block that knocked DeAngelo Tyson out of Georgia’s 2011 win over the Yellow Jackets. Smith, then a green sophomore, replaced Tyson in the lineup and recorded seven tackles and 1.5 tackles for a loss, earning SEC Co-Defensive Lineman of the Week honors in the process.
Scooters and cut blocks. I hate ’em both.
Get The Picture 
They talk about player safety for concussions, but never anything about safety from career ending knee injuries. The cut block is a cheap move and should be removed. If your offense is based off of getting cheap hits on players knees, to the point that they try to avoid the hit or get injured, then it is worse than a safety, CB, or LB going for a huge hit on a defenseless WR.

I agree with you to an extent, but a brain injury is far more impactful than any other type of injury.

Will it be an ACC crew or an SEC crew (officiating)? In a perfect world it shouldn’t matter, but in a perfect world Pen Wagers doesn’t ref anywhere.
Actually, Georgia usually gets screwed either way, but still, I think the ACC usually help the nerds. I hope it’s fair…but in a fair world AM would be playing…which gives me a brain storm I’ll describe below this post.

ACC officials when the game is in Athens, SEC officials when the game is in Atlanta. The SEC isn’t assigning Penn Wagers to the Iron Bowl (too big a deal for a screw-up.) He didn’t do the Egg Bowl last today. If not, he could be at us, UK and UT, T A&M at Mizzou . Vandy, UF and SC play ACC teams at home and I presume those games will have ACC officials but I really do not know. My guess is he will either do our game or the Missouri game. If the league wants to keep him away from a game that determines a division I would bet we get him.

Near the end of the game, this Saturday…if UGA’s victory is in the bag…then have Aaron Murray dressed out and let him stand one foot onto the field for at least one play (he could just step out of bounds if the action came his way)….maybe he could do this during the “victory formation” thing if Georgia has the ball at the end.
That way he can say he played in this game against GT….Just think of how bad it would piss off the nerds.
Why not? Is it too “ugly” an idea? It would be one great way to honor AM.

Garrison Smith didn’t play much until his soph season was almost over. Was SEC co-defensive player of the week in what was essentially his first action. How typical of RG to let a playmaker sit on the bench when we needed all the depth we could get. If only BVG had won the argument and gotten rid of RG we’d have spared the program a lot of problems.
