“She said we weren’t real Alabama fans because it didn’t bother us that they lost. And then she started shooting.”

I know you shouldn’t tar an entire fan base because of the actions of a few crackpots, but between Harvey Updyke and this bitch, damn, Alabama, just damn.

Don’t forget the fatal shooting involving the LSU v. Alabama games a few years ago.

To your larger point, there is a fundamental difference in the culture of Alabama and that of Georgia. The players that grow up in that environment imbibe the myopic obsession with winning football games at a level that exceeds all other states. Nick Saban is the perfect obsessive compulsive perfectionist to exaggerate these characteristics.

Actually, maybe Paul Finebaum was right after all. He said that Georgia fans don’t care enough. He pontificated that Alabama fans would never tolerate Mark Richt because they cared a lot more than their Dawg counterparts.

I saw Paul on ESPN and was amazed at the miniature elephant size of his ears, the proportions of which would make a Tuberville jealous

You’re too kind, DIF. Paul Finebaum looks like a walking penis wearing glasses and a necktie. His nose and ears are just surplus tissue that was not scraped away during circumcision.

Good point. I think maybe his handlers will have to get him an inpatient ear reduction procedure, have him fitted for a toupe or enlarge his skull to distract the attention of viewers from a head made for a radio network .

            LOL, y’all funny.
How do they compare to the Neil Diamond/Mitch Albom scale? I’d always thought those two had the biggest ears on the planet.

      I think that’s a fair statement.

There are significantly more people in Alabama than Georgia that tie their existence/worth to college football and more importantly, the Iron Bowl.

They really do say “Who you fer?” when they meet you.

A friend of mine used to install and service network systems in small banks throughout the South. In Alabama banks, the lobby would frequently…not once, frequently include a bust of Bear Bryant AND Shug Jordan. Or perhaps a framed panorama of Bryan-Denny Stadium AND Jordan-Hare stadium. I’ve never seen anything like this in any bank I’ve set foot in here.

FWIW, I once attended summer classes at Bama so I’ve kicked about over there too.

Bama football, it is serious business. Hell, they will even poison trees. Shoot people. Why not. At least they do not shoot their coaches. They are smart enough not to do that, after all their coaches win a damn bunch of games and titles.

Would the Athletic Board and AD be willing to go after Ed Oregeron now that he resinged from USC. He is suppose to be a solid DC.
On second thought those Alabama fans might shoot their coaches after those calls late in the Auburn game. It is one thing to have a pass deflected and to let a W/O get behind you in the open.

Coach O is a recruiter and a DL coach. I don’t think he is known as a good defensive coordinator.

Ed is presently staked out in the back yard of a safe house in Compton to keep him from gnawing off the head of Pat Haden. Until that bad mojo is gone Ed’s agent will not make him available for interviews.

That little issue will never keep him from his next job, wherein he hires Lane Kiffin as his chief recruiter, and Monte as the DC

When Haden hired another coach, Ed sarcastically told him to kiss off. Then when he found out who, he realized he had inadvertently recommended the new coach. Then he recommended sometrhing else to Haden but unfortunately Haden’s dick was too short.

With all due respect to the deceased, this doesn’t seem like the typical Alabama football related violence which usually involves a few more rednecks.

I thought I was doing well by not screaming obscenities off the back deck. Little did I know my that my cool, self-controlled manner could be endangering myself.

They don’t shoot their coaches, but Bill Curry got a brick thrown through his office window. This makes the tea bagger seem mild.

BD, I sypmathize. I did leave my basement after the way we lost to Auburn, but a few things down there were reduced to splinters.

Finebaum has now replaced Colin Cowherd as the sports guy I most want to physically assault (well, he’s number 2 now that Olbermann is back at ESPN). He is such an insufferable little twerp

For comparison sake, I cannot envision a group of Gwinnett County rednecks getting to the point of shooting someone over a Georgia game, or poisoning trees. I keep harping that the whole state of Alabama is rigged for Tide football. In a similar vein, the whole state lives for the Tide. It must be nice that they have something that successful to hang on to, but only in Alabama is this not a surprise.

“It was over a football game,” said Shepherd. “I’m never going to forget it because she died in my arms.”

Now I know why I never took my gun to Grant Field.
