Flip flops

Lobbying for the BCS is the college football equivalent of the filibuster – every few years everybody argues the opposite of what they used to stand for.

When asked whether Auburn’s luck with a tipped-ball win over Georgia should be factored into the debate, Slive said, “It just depends on your point of view. Luck is when preparation meets opportunity, and the young man (Auburn wide receiver Ricardo Louis) was in the right place at the right time to catch the deflection.”

By that rationale, Ohio State’s been in the right place at the right time to catch a softer schedule.

By the way, Mike Slive, you don’t sound nervous.  Just rusty.

I can’t wait to hear Chuck Oliver ask Gus about why Nick Marshall can’t win the big games after they lose to Mizzou in the SECCG.

Thing is, he WASN’T at the “right place at the right time”. He kept running in stride and didn’t go back for the ball. He was lucky it was tipped forward where he could catch a deflection.

Had he gone back to jump for the ball, it hits the turf. Had we not touched it, it sailed over his head by 3 or 4 yards.

Nick Marshall: “So… wait… just to be clear… you want me to underthrow the hail mary???”
    Gus Malzahn: *wide eyed stare*
    Nick Marshall: “Into double coverage???”
    Gus Malzahn: *wide eyed stare*
    Nick Marshall: “On purpose???”
Gus Malzahn: “Just like we practiced…”

Yeah Mike, and if the right sperm wasn’t in the right place at a certain time, you wouldn’t be around either.

This is the second time today I can say: Meh, 180 degree flip flops aren’t what they used to be.

Remember the flip-flop on “If you don’t win your conference you shouldn’t be in the NCG? That has to be the all time great one concerning the BCS.

If that Slime observation doesn’t concern you about that douche’s knowledge of football nothing will. Our DBs on that play came closer to doing their job than that fool receiver running wide-open toward the goal line without any clue of where the ball was. That is good “preparation” and coaching to be ready for that opportunity? That statement alone makes him embarrassing as a commish.
