If you’ve been worried about Georgia being a little green at the quarterback position before, you should be positively freaking out at the 2014 prospects.
For now, though, the starting job in 2014 is Mason’s to lose. He’s the only quarterback aside from Murray to have attempted a pass this season – Bauta has run three times for 29 yards in mop-up duty and LeMay hasn’t played this season at all, although he saw the field as a reserve in 2012 – and Mason will be far and away the most experienced quarterback on the roster next fall.
If that’s not enough for you, check out this quote from Brice Ramsey:
“I’ve grown so much,” Ramsey said. “In January [when he enrolled], I couldn’t have even have told you what a zone was or what all that was. It was just coming in and actually having to put forth effort and trying to learn the playbook and study and everything. Now I’m picking everything up and just excited for the future.”
Mike Bobo earns his pay, that’s for sure. But it’ll be nice if Mason stays healthy.
““I’ll think of it tomorrow, at Tara. I can stand it then. Tomorrow, I’ll think of some way to get him back. After all, tomorrow is another day.”

Unless something miraculous or completely devastating happens, LeMay won’t see the field…. He certainly isn’t expecting to.

I wonder if he transfers at the end of the semester or if he changes positions to a slot receiver or safety.

I’m sure he is glad Bama didn’t draft him. I’ve wondered about him switching positions. He doesn’t look like he has developed physically into a safety. Slot receiver might fit him better. Missing his senior year of HS or just not an SEC qb? If he transfers wonder what his brother does. Wish him luck.

I’ve heard enough about his high school senior season. He’s had two years of training at the Richt- Bobo Academy for quarterbacks.
He’s a Dawg and I wish him luck too. But I think reality must be setting in.

LeMay didn’t even dress for Tech. We took Mason, Bauta, Welch and Ramsey.

Or if we can get good leads in easy games so back-ups can get some snaps.

If there’s one thing I am confident about with Richt and Bobo, it’s that they can coach up a QB. Look at the track record with Richt at FSU and continuing at UGA with Richt and Bobo working together. I don’t think anyone is better.
Also, Jacob Park is playing in the SC state championship this weekend. He’s been really good in the playoffs. Enrolling early. Should be a good QB for us one day.

Every starting QB in the SEC East missed games this year due to injury. So, there’s that for your happy thought of the day!

conventional wisdom suggests that Park and Ramsey will stage a battle for the QB job in 2015. The real wild card in the discussion is Bauta. I am assuming that LeMay is never going to even compete for PT. When we recruited Bauta, there was virtually no downside to our risk/reward. We knew we would get Ramsey behind him, and we knew we had Aaron and Mason ahead of him. Thus, barring injury, we could envision a LONG LONG development cycle for him. I am just guessing, but I think the coaches saw a big kid with a strong arm that suggests his raw talent make him ideal “project” in much the same way Mettenberger was in 2009. As we look to the spring, the coaches will essentially have 4 QBs (mason, ramsey, bauta, and park) to dedicate time to. Realistically, Park will probably redshirt unless he shows he is clearly superior to Bauta and Ramsey (i actually think this will happen over time, but i don’t think it matters in 2014). thus, Bauta has a pretty good opportunity to get more attention from Richt/Bobo, and if he has begun to turn his athleticism into a more polished QB, we are in a much stronger position as a program in 2015. I would like to have a QB battle where we feel like every competitor could be an all-SEC QB (which was not the case in 2006 and we had no battle in 2010).

Any way you look at ie, we have a talented group of QBs. How that talwnt is expressed on the field with each new D presented during games will determine what kind of sand they have. I have every faith in all our QBs, especially with Jacob Park in the wings learning how to be the starter at UGA.
Yep, read about Jacob the other day and he impresses with his talent , work and dedication. Seems there’s not much hope for him winning the 5A in SC because he appears to be all that brung’em there. Since it’s all on his back, I’d love to see that game.

Just 5 more months to G Day when we can begin to see the rants that (insert name other than Mason) should start because he threw that one really good pass to a guy against the 3rd string D.

Has anyone given an explanation of Lemay? Highly rated as a high schooler but can’t seem to play. Does he not understand the playbook? Does he not have the arm? Is he a head case? Just curious.

Sometimes there is no explanation that can be given for a LeMay

I’m in that very boat regarding LeMay. He had me truly excited during the recruitment process, and actually even more so after his Sr. Year conflict. I had the strange romantic notion that he would swoop in and be committed to clearing his good name with some quality play.
Alas, my gut tells me he doesn’t have the football intellect to get the play book down. And UGa went ahead and did he and his family a favor by taking his kid brother. I don’t see him getting much beyond mop-up snaps (if even).

I actaully saw Lemay play as a Junior, while visiting my sister in Charlotte. He was clearly the best player on the field. I was excited about his commitment. Kinda weird how it’s played out at GA

Well have you seen the 2018 kid from Snellville Middle School yet? He’s rewriting the passing records at his middle school. That discipline thing with his social studies teacher has been resolved quietly and I heard he’s going to enroll early enough at South Gwinnett for the spring practice.
Park is going to holding this guy’s clipboard.

Call me crazy, but I’m kinda hoping that Bauta gets in position to start in 2015. I think his mobility could really be an asset. Lets face it, in this day and age you either have to throw dimes or you have to run around enough to create problems for the defense. The days of serviceable championship qbs is over. In other words the days of jay barker and buck belue winning nattys has passed. You better show up with a Tom Brady or a Vince young. Accept no substitute.

I trust our current staff’s ability to coach the quarterback position, This is one area where we have few peers.

Now if Bryce can just go tell the defensive players what a zone is that would be a nice start.

Can we trade Lemay to LSU or the barners for an OL or DB?

If we do that we’ll get a worthless OL or DB and the Barners will turn Lemay into another Marshall.
