Wednesday morning buffet

Hungry?

  • There is a Chris Conley-Georgia Tech-Dragon*Con joke lurking somewhere in this story, but I’ll be damned if I’m gonna be the one to make it.
  • On the other hand, I think we all know this is something else Mark Richt has lost control of.
  • Another tale of amateurism“To be honest,” he said, “I didn’t feel like I was doing nothing wrong.”
  • Can you guess the only SEC head coach who wasn’t employed when he was hired for his current gig?
  • How smarmy is Urban Meyer?  Smarmy enough that I can’t mock a John Feinstein column related to college football.
  • Now this is some world-class trolling.
  • Shilling for himself in South Carolina, Rick Perry makes a funny about TAMU failing to beat Missouri.  Well, I’m sure somebody thought it was funny.
  • And here’s Athlon’s list of college football’s 20 worst coaches at great programs.  Georgia has fewer on the list than Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame or Southern Cal.
  • Loran Smith has a nice write-up of the Georgia Tech game.

Does that mean we can expect Nick Marshall to go down with an ACL injury in the SECCG or the bowl game?

    • It has to be the year of the blown up knees. I rarely wear my good luck, never fails, red eel skin cowboy boots to games. The one time I do (yes they still work) I slip and twist just a little walking down the stadium steps. No big deal. But it’s bothered me for a while. A little swelling on occasion. Last week I see the ortho PA. Monday their office calls and tells me I Need to come in Wednesday to see the doctor. You know there is something wrong with telling anyone I blew an ACL making a hotdog and coke run at the game. 😦 My son tried to console me with “Pop, they make Nikes in red too ya know.” It has been a weird season.

You’re probably younger than me, but I can’t wear my nice Noconas anymore. Heels are too hard and every step sends a shock up the spine. Sucks gettin old. Good luck with the Ortho.

Does this mean LSU’s S&C program is a mess?

No, it’s just the unfortunate after effect of “doing it all wrong” his freshman year. Nick Marshall better watch out too. 😉

      Lol! Best response yet!
Personally as a fellow nerd, I want to see Conoly’s film. Sounds like fun. (Yes I have an engineering degree from Georgia.)

Gus leaving for Texas actually makes a lot of sense. The Florida Marlins of college football are due for a major market correction.

He left Arky State after all of one year for a better job, why not do it again?
I suspect even if Missouri wins and Gus takes the “bus” to Texas, the Barners will still not hate the guy after that Iron Bowl ending.

Urban Meyer has always been a total douchebag. Shortly after being hired by Florida, when I read that he had BYU stickers placed in the urinals in the Utah locker room I knew we were dealing with a true piece of shit. He has not failed to live up to his reputation at any point since. I would put all of my Mojo into pulling for Sparty Saturday but I need most of it for Mizzou. Damn I loathe Meyer.

Smarmy? That’s one of the nicer things you can say about Corch.

+1 It does with their history of firing coaches. I can’t imagine anyone from Arkansas saying Texas was their dream job. They were in the SWC together and the hate is still string.

Pat Dye coached AU for 10 years. Terry Bowden QUIT in his 5th year . Tuberville spent 10 years at AU, his leaving was a mutual agreement, and Chizik, well it all fell apart due his believing that HE was the reason for the NC, not Fairley, Cam, and all those seniors on that team. Tuberville hates Auburn so much, he was in Auburn (wearing his Bearcat Black, which is really cool ) for the bama game making the rounds with tailgaters, laughing, giving smiles and “War Eagles” to all..and to visit his son Tucker that transferred to Auburn from Texas Tech to be a scout team QB. For anyone to say Auburn “runs coaches off” is just not true.

Remind me not to piss John Feinstein off…or be Urban Meyer, either.

It is always easier to knock Ray Goff than to look deep enough to find the unilateral disarmament he was the first to deal with…Vince, you’ll notice, left for Europe.

How did Gene Chizik not make the “bad coaches at great programs” list? It should be pretty obvious by now that Malzahn and Cammy Cam were the only two things propping up that regime.

Unless the makers of the list don’t even consider Auburn a “great program,” in which, OK, Athlon, we cool.

Chiz is a perfect fit for the “bad coach” part, but the “great program” part is what disqualified him from consideration.

Top 15 all time in wins. BCS NC. Maybe, just maybe a 3rd SEC Championship the last 10 years. That is pretty a damn good program. Don’t be so ridiculous.

So two of the best senior QBs this year blow their ACLs. Should make for an interesting NFL draft.

Lane Kiffin should have been on the Bad Coaches list twice….one for 10rc and USC.

Thank you Loran Smith. Some people do not see what they think they see and they do not hear what they think they hear. I would say Loran saw and heard accurately and to the point what was going on in the GT game. This is a very good, solid 8-4 team. Doubt if Mizzou or AU would want to play these guys in the Dome.

Love the Aubbies comments under the SI Malzan article. Someone has a bit of a complex.

Malzon to UT would be great for him. He seems like a really good coach.

I did kind of lose a bit of respect for the article when it talked about how clean cut his program is and then lauded GM for recruiting Nick Marshall.

“There’s an expectation that the Texas job will open in the next few weeks. According to a source, Malzahn has told friends privately that coaching the Longhorns is his dream job.”

Every time a Pete Thamel according to a source rumor article is linked, an angel overlooking a real journalist loses one of its wings.

A quote from the Conley article:

“I just spoke with (Frank) recently and he said he would love to work on it,” Conley said. “I see him every day because he’s in the (Butts-Mehre) building and he has unlimited resources back there in the video editing suite.”

Compliance better be all over this. I would hate to get a violation for a Star Wars fan film.

Loran’s article is required reading. Those of us in the stands didn’t give up, either. You could hear the North and East stands getting louder from Gurley’s leap to the end of the second overtime. Everyone was still there.

GT is the one game in the season where the motivation of the Georgia team is always underestimated. I hope this never changes.

How does John Mackovic make a list of worst coaches? He was ACC COY at Wake, Big 10 COY at Illinois, and Big 12 COY at Texas. Think they might have imploded over that UCLA game? As I recall it was a “roof collapse” game where the 3rd string QB was all that was available. Hardly a “worst” coach performance. Seems Texas has several candidates though, not sure how much research this guy did.
