Today’s moment of BWAHAHAAAHAHA!!1!! comes from the president of the Georgia Bulldog Club of Jacksonville, who, in speaking about the early enthusiasm level for the Gator Bowl, noted one essential truth:
“I think it’ll raise up to an 8 once we let it sink in,” Daniel said. “It’s not what we thought it would be, but it’s a bowl game. You hear teasing around here that Florida would take the Gator Bowl all day long.”
Who in the hell is an eight besides those with vested interests?

Maybe South Georgia fans who can see their team and not pay a lot of money for travel or take time off of work. Also folks who still want revenge from 1969.

An 8?

I think we’ll be lucky if the team is at 5

As a native Savannahian, I can totally see this. Watch the Dawg fan in Waycross, Jesup, Alma, etc, who can’t really afford the time and expense of a weekend in Athens make a short day trip to Jax to catch his beloved team in person. Where Jax will really suffer is the lack of occupied hotel rooms.

He’s suggesting that the residual gator tears left on the field earlier this year will add a few points. That’s all.

Homey…I’m saying this very quietly, like soto voce and all, ya know?
What if Vince ate the turtle?

Honestly, you’ve lost me here.

Let me try and interpret for you Senator. To “eat the turtle” means to have taken all of the luck and until the turtle eater dies everyone in the village(UGA) will have no luck. I have often said that Vince was the luckiest coach UGA ever had so maybe SJIII is right.

Goes with the discussion (?) Athens Homer Dawg and I were having the other day….
69 has the essence of it.
If I start thinking about Vince and luck….man, he sure seemed to have every piece of good luck…except, of course, Jan Kemp et al…which was bad luck plus stupid plus cheap lawyers.
One time me and dad are sitting in Jackson, Miss (Memorial Stadium?)
We are playing Missy State, and it is almost the end of the game, and Erk’s defense is battling, battling…bending, bending and Missy State throws a pass into the end zone and it gets (Oh my God) batted into the air and it comes down right in Happy Dicks’ chest where he is lying on the ground….game over, we win.
I really don’t claim to understand all this turtle pie, Kharmic Bitches stuff, but I know there is something going on here.

PS…I am now leaving the house, so if you are thinking of sending the black helicopter loaded with fellers in white coats….I won’t be home. 🙂

No, but now that you put him wise to the turtle curse he may be thinking of sending the black helicopter loaded with guys in camouflage to Vince’s house. Frankly, I’m surprised VD is still alive. You’d think he either would have died of a heat attack or killed himself by now, being married to Barbara.

” heat attack ” Mayor is that a reference to Babs? 🙂

I yesterday snagged an old Charleston cookbook at a humble library book swap, and you know what those lowcountry folk call turtles: “cooters”!
I liked that, after a fashion.

How did the Gator ever fall so low in the bowl pecking order? I wonder how they are holding on to Jan.1? Arrival of the NFL maybe?
