Well, there’s one kid who won’t be playing quarterback at another SEC school.

Redemption!

After weeks of chatter, former Alabama defensive lineman D.J. Pettway says he’s coming back to Tuscaloosa.

He was dismissed from the Crimson Tide in February after his arrest for second degree robbery, but after a season at East Mississippi Community College, Pettway tweeted about signing with Alabama again…

Pettway was accused of physically attacking a fellow student along with teammates Eddie Williams and Tyler Hayes. All were dismissed from the team. Pettway’s lawyer released a lengthy statement following the dismissal to express his disappointment in the decision. Pettway was granted youthful offender status to end the legal process.

At least they know he can hit.

Bama resigned him before Auburn snapped him up.

must be talented to not get a gray shirt, at least, the second time around.

This is exactly the kind of shit I am proud that Richt doesn’t do. If a guy assaults someone, with the help of two other thugs, he should be dead in our eyes. If he comes back to haunt us so be it. Saban’s ethics obviously depend on talent. Bet your ass Saban wouldn’t give him a second chance if he wasn’t talented as hell.

+1000 Talent opens a lot of doors, jails included. I wonder what the kid who got the beat down is going to feel having him back on campus. If the guy’s that good the kid should get a lawyer and sue his butt and get some of that signing bonus (from the Pros not Bama).

Well, if the victim went to Bama, he’s probably okay with anything that gets one more victory.

And he will have to stay for the entire game or risk Saban taking away his privilege to buy student tickets to watch the guy who beat him up.

Nick Saban has his own type of mission work.

Blessed is he who, in the name of charity and good will, shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother’s keeper and the finder of lost children.

    What an idiot.

He should’ve switched positions to QB and signed with Auburn.

Who’s gonna get cut or knee capped to make room for him?

It’s funny to read the comments from the original arrest article. Bama fans are talking about how Saban is done with these thugs for good and there is no chance they will be coming back to UA.

At least it was a Macbook Pro instead of a Dell. There were no reports on whether it was Painted Black or took flight

“His left side of his face was gigantic,” Burks said. “The jacket he was wearing and his headphones were completely drenched in blood, the bottom half of his face was completely covered in blood; he was bleeding badly from his lip. He had clearly been badly beaten…..

According to a University spokeswoman, UAPD did not send out a campus alert to students in the 24 hours between the muggings and the arrests because the University normally sends out alerts in situations where students need to take immediate action.”

That’s because they were just having fun –

Jurgens said he has never met his attackers before and wasn’t sure if they attacked him with specific intent to rob him.

“It’s almost like they were doing it for fun, because it seemed weird that they didn’t rob me of my wallet or phone or keys,” he said. “But, I just know they sure did an efficient job because I can’t recall parts of it even today.”

Just so I get this correct, the judicial board dismissed him from the University and now they are going against policy to allow him to return…

    quote:
University Expulsion – Separation of the student from the University permanently
or on an indefinite basis. A student permanently expelled is prohibited from
reapplying to the University in the future or from earning a degree from any of its
colleges or schools. Readmission of a student expelled on an indefinite basis may not
occur within five years and shall require the recommendation of the Vice President
for Student Affairs and approval of the Provost

  10. Of course it’s okay to do performance enhancing drugs. As a matter of fact, how dare the NCAA demand that a student athlete meet standards. Hahahaha!

  11. I am against this.

Don’t know all the circumstances, but this is a bad deal.

If you read the victim accounts of these crimes you would agree – the four kids need to be in jail, not roaming college campuses.

I’m all for second chances, but short of the victims ok’ing this, I’m against it.

BD, read the University of Alabama Rule quoted by Mudcat above. It shouldn’t matter even if the victim is OK with it. Allowing this guy back as a student violates University Policy. It endagers other students. What they are doing here makes a mockery of the University of Alabama as an educational institution. Is the place really a university or a football team with a college attached so it qualifies to play other colleges? I always respected the University of Alabama before but I have to say I lost some respect for Bama because of this. Where is the faculty? The Student Government? Is there nobody in Tuscaloosa with enough balls to stand up to Saban and say: “ENOUGH!” ?
