So much for the Tech folks being the smart ones.

It strikes me that an Associate AD getting in a bitch slap fight on Twitter with an ESPN PR Director is a dumb, dumb move on more than one level.

It’s even worse when you get totally destroyed.

Surely, the former Tech AssAD has some relationship with Ms. Potts…or he is a heavy drinker, all alone and bored with his job.

So…the GT guy screwed the ESPN broad after a party at a bowl game last year–and dumped her. He now makes a poor joke in response to a tweet she made in an effort to reconnect. She lets him know in no uncertain terms that she’s pissed off at him. He lays an olive branch at her feet in his last couple of tweets to her and she responds in kind. 2 to 1 he’s in the sack with her again within a week. How is this news?

Gt guy screwing a girl (high profile babe at that)? Yeah, that would be news. Go with bored and drunk.

Look at his handle. He went to Bama and based on the number 24 with his Titter handle probably played on some sports team. He now works for Tech in the AD’s office. Plus there is a picture of him and he looks like a pretty cool dude. I’m sticking with my original analysis.

Look at the last Tweet from her: “You owe me dinner, pal. See ya soon.” Plaintiff rests.

(Ahem). Your honor, the defense submits the following to be admitted into evidence:
          * Mr. Ryan Bamford arrived to the GT position via Yale
          * Mr. Bamford is a graduate of Ithaca College in sports management
          * Although he does like golf, he is a wine drinker (under the age of 40)

In summation…nerd education, nerd work experience, nerd employer, not a bourbon man, not married. No shot at the ESPN babe. None.

The DEFENSE rests! I shall humbly await that most noted and accomplished of jurors, Dog in Florida, to give us his ruling. ;-)

REBUTTAL: Yale, as an Assistant AD for 5 years prior to arriving at Georgia Tech to become Associate AD. A graduate of Ithica College where he played on the basketball team and was the single season and all-time leading 3 point shooter in school history. His father was the interim Commissioner of the ECAC and now still one of the top executives in that league. The kid knocks down 6 figures and look at the guy’s pix–this kid knows his way around female anatomy. This isn’t a Tech nerd. This is a cool guy on his way to being the AD at a major university and Commissioner of a major conference and getting as much tail as possible on that journey. :)

He has 3 cats, one named “Vlad”. He wears sweater vests with bow ties…in August. He translates Star Wars into Klingon. He took the Tech job when they tossed in free tickets to Dragon-Con. He dresses as his favorite Dungeons & Dragons character for Halloween…and Christmas. He won’t ride an elevator higher than the 6th floor because of nosebleeds. He drives a Prius. When Paul Johnson speaks to him, which is rarely, he always replies, “Yes My Lord”. His favorites on Pandora are all Taylor Swift songs.

Finally…he works for Tech. Res Ispa Loquitur

That would be news, especially since she is a real live girl and not the type Tech guys normally have…..plastic and inflatable (or imaginary)

        • Mayor of Dawgtown

All you guys confuse temporarily working at Tech with being a student there. This Bamford guy is an ex basketball jock from the Northeast on a rocket sled to the top in athletics administration, probably because of his father. He started as an Asst. AD at Yale, then to Tech for a promotion. He’ll be gone from Tech within 2 more years and most likely become the AD at a small school in the northeast–someplace like a Bucknell. Then after a few years there AD at a bigger school, probably also in the Northeast, then on until he’s AD at a major college–if he makes it that far. That’s how it’s done in that business. As for the ESPN gal, obviously something is going on between them but it might be that they know each other from athletics conferences, etc. and are just friends. Her “you owe me dinner…see ya soon” tweet says they knew each other before this, either as friends or romantically. But who really knows that except them?

    • Darrron Rovelll

Do some research about her before making some sexist and inappropriate comments. I seriously doubt that he knows her beyond an anecdotal level.

I usually don’t agree with nerds but he had a point, Matt Millen was a sad choice as announcer. He was really annoying at times and getting in the way of a great football game. We turned multiple times to Mizzou/OkSt just to get a break from him.

    • Scott W.

      I don’t like Millen either and I’m not a nerd, I think.

      • adam

After he embarrassed himself defending those clowns at Penn State, I really have no use for him.

I was jealous of the folks who got Gruden and Turico. Outback Bowl I think? They’re a great duo.

  4. Russ

Hard to argue with the nerd’s original point. And yeah, it did seem like a mating ritual of some sort.

  5. Millen DOES suck. How many times did he refer to a player as a “buckaroo” last night?

    • Bright Idea

“Patience,” he said. Again and again and again. Teach Millen some new cliches.

      • Bob

Millen is bad. Tessitore is even worse. Talk about getting someone from the bottom of the barrel.

        • Mayor of Dawgtown

Tessitore is going to be the main voice/face of the new SEC Network. I heard Mike Slive say so. “An immensely talented guy” Slive called him.

  6. Reipar

Why would he weigh in? How awkward did this become? Bad enough to get shown up when you represent a high profile client, but to then retreat in such a public way makes your original position look even worse. Why???

  7. A ruse:

  8. ScoutDawg

But, I am going to be at Tech.

  9. Always Someone Else's Fault

Millen’s a poor announcer to begin with, and for some reason he had a strong rooting interest in last night’s game. You could almost hear the producer telling him to backtrack on a couple of calls, and he went full homer on the final interception. However, his complete inability to understand the nature of the pass interference call does help explain why he blew so many first round picks on WR busts.

  10. JAX

Having a “twitter” fight is a bitch move. But what would you expect from a bitch and Tech bitch?

  11. Irishdawg

Millen is still leagues better than Thom Brenneman

The best part of that was the link at the bottom that lists the top 5 recruits that GT is after. I know this blog doesn’t spend much time on recruiting, but that article was hilarious. “Tech has to be considered a dark horse” for Leonard Fournette…a very, very dark horse. I’m sure the #1 RB in the nation is dying to play in PJ’s high school offense to showcase his talent for the pro’s. When listing recruits Paul Johnson has a shot at getting, might as well start outside the top 150-200 players in the nation, and definitely outside the top 20-25 as all 5 guys it listed are rated
