This time will be different. Totally.

If the rumors are true, I can’t help but think that Louisville is setting itself up for the most massive “I told you so” in the history of college athletics.

The cherry on top of the speculative sundae would be if Jeff Long were to rehire Petrino one day should Bielema fail to work out.  Blogger heaven!

And Bielema will not work out so that’s a possibility.

    • Of course, there’s also the possibility that he’d make a fine successor to Agent Muschamp.

That would be scary. Please keep the guy on Florida’s staff who wants to run a slowed down, power offense and stingy defense while managing the clock and field position. If they get someone down there who knows anything about running a high flying speed offense they’ll be right back on top. Petrino can coach, all his bullshit aside.

“Please keep the guy on Florida’s staff” because they’ve already given him a number and taken away his name

And you know if Arkansas has 2-3 more years like this one there will be a huge, vocal group of Razorback fans who will want him back. Especially if he continues to be successful at Louisville.

If, or more likely when he is succesful, he won’t think twice about Arkansas. They spurned him. He doesn’t have time for that shit.

Somethings not right. Strong announcement Saturday night. Jurich interviewed 7 candidates (already?!, wholly shit!). Nine hour interview Wednesday (that’s today, and it’s not 2 pm). And multiple background checks have already been done on petrino (multiple?, guess that doesn’t equal thorough).

    Not saying forde’s article is b.s., but…

If Strong knew he was taking the Texas job (which I think he did) a while before the anouncement, he could have told L’ville; so they could get a head start.

Didn’t this guy treat UL like a cheap whore while he was there? It seems he was spirited away by some Auburn representitives on a midnight flight to Montgomery in a coup attempt on Coach Tommy Tubberville…And then he left for the Falcons and then dumped on ATL to coach at Ar-Kansas where he was apparantly screwing an assistant coach’s woman and got caught. My, how lucky Louisville would be to get him back…He should wear a wife beater tee shirt during the introduction interview…if they even bother to have one. This, even more than Auburn’s playing of disgraced thugs..is proof that some programs will do anything to win. What’s next? OJ getting pardoned by Obama and becoming the USC coach?
(OK I managed to get in a slam on UL, AU, ARK and USC in one post….so let me add that even though they do not fit in this story, GT sucks. That makes 5) I wonder if they have interviewed PJ.I

And why would Louisville get treated like a cheap whore? We are about to find out. Now both of their coaches will like the expensive kind.

What’s the point of a 9 hour interview and multiple background checks. You know what you’re getting, right?

“Are you sure you want this job and not use it as a stepping stone to another high paying job?”

    “Yes”

“Are you sure you won’t have a sexual relation with a mistress who you hire onto your staff?

    “Yes”

    “Are you Really, Really sure?”

    “Yes”

    Repeat for 9 hours

I see where this is heading:

    Strong to Texas.
    Petrino to Louisville.
    Bobo to WKU.
    Grantham to Cleveland.
    Richt to the missionary field.
    Gruden to UGA.
UGA to five national championships in the next 15 years.

We’ll miss Todd’s post-game press conferences after losses when he’s gone:

Todd: “And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, saves lives! You don’t want the truth, because deep down in places you don’t talk about at frat parties, you want me on that sideline. You need me on that sideline. We use words like “cover” and “tackle”. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent trying to defend against something. You use them as a punchline. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the missile defense that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it! I would rather you just said “thank you,” and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you drop your mic and get in the arena. Either way, I don’t give a damn what you think you are entitled to!”

Someone: “Did you order the Code Red?”

Todd: “Not on deep balls. We’ll learn from it and move on.”

(Someone): “Did you order the tipped pass?”
            (Grantham): “I did my job…”
(Someone): “DID YOU ORDER THE TIPPED PASS?!!?”
(Grantham): “YOU’RE DAMNED RIGHT, I DID!!!!!”

Western Kentucky would be a good job for Bobo. Not too far over his head but he can win there and play in some decent sized games. Win impressively for a few years at WKU and he’ll have his pick of big time jobs.

    Will there be paint?

“We didn’t come to paint.”® (n.) – proof that profound and Bobby Petrino don’t mix, and that Arkansas fans can’t tell the difference.

Everybody is making fun of Petrino’s hire by Louisville. They’ll all be singing a different tune in 3-4 years when Louisville wins the ACC and plays in the 4 team playoff. The guy is a dick but he wins football games.
