That was fast.

Of all the things that shock me about the hire of Pruitt, this ranks first:

It’s even more amazing when you consider that, according to the rumor mill, Richt spent roughly the first thirty-nine of those haggling with Kirby.

As you pointed out earlier, preserving and enhancing the current year’s recruiting class should be last on he list of priorities. Still, it’s a nice little bonus for an already excellent-on-paper hire.

Athens area realtors are gassing up their Lincoln Town Cars.

Let’s hope he doesn’t pull a Glenn Mason.

I am curious what FSU’s D looked like before Pruitt.

I think Stoops was the Coach..he’s now at KY.

Good, but it was even better this past season. That said, I do wonder how much credit is due to Stoops. I think Pruitt did a fine job in Tallahassee, but he did have a very solid foundation awaiting him there.

Well yes, and no. There are quite a few talented players, but FSU had more NFL draft picks on D than we did after the 2012 season.

Solid no frills 4-3. This was first year of 3-4 for them . Fairly seamless transition it would seem.

  4. FWIW, I don’t believe the rumor mill, and never did. Just never saw Kirby in the picture, for a number of reasons.

That Lakatos resigned, and Pruitt just happens to coach DB’s, is not likely to be just a coincidence, IMO. I suspect there’s a reason it all fits together.

We are watching a sea-change in major college football administration. December 2013 is when I think all this began. Bama loses to a first year coaching staff at Auburn and proceeds to lose its bowl game. Saban cleans house, hires Kiffen, as Bobby F***ing Petrino gets his new gig. All hell has broken loose. Franklin, with four accused rapists near his program gets hired at Penn State (no further commentary needed). The list could go on but I can’t process any more of it.

Here’s hoping Mark Richt hears “Achievement Unlocked!” in about 12 months…

And that’s the point, is it not…again, I am glad everybody is happy…Is Evvvvverrrrybody Happpppppy????

And I pretty sure Mark Richt knows what he is doing.

But….I will feel a lot better about the defense when the fat lady have sung at then of the South Carolina game.

      Suit you, Larry? 🙂

I am not a conspiracy guy but the timing of Lakatos and Grantham leaving and the hire of Pruitt does give me pause to think that maybe we don’t know all the behind the scenes work. I have a hard time imagining this is all just damn good work on Richt’s part. We all know Mark Richt has lost control of the hiring process, right?

On another note, I am very excited, or as we say in Maine, “wicked excited” to have Pruitt. Sounds like a grand slam to me.

Scuttlebutt is that CMR had been rehabbing with speed coach Sherman Armstrong to finish this warp drive hiring drill.

“Maybe we don’t konw all the behind the scenes work.” Was this supposed to be funny. I am amazed that most of the posters have never realized this. I have never thought anyone has ever known this. I am not aware of CMR, CMB, CTG or McGarity posting so this should not come as a surprise to anyone.

I was thinking the same thing. I think Richt gave lakatos and grantham chance to save face , after getting in touch with Pruitt through will friend.

I can’t imagine we would LOSE any recruits when we just got the DC of the reigning national champs.

Honestly, I’m finally selling my old house after 6 months on the market, and this hire is almost as big a relief as that was.

Contrary to reports, Mark Richt knows what he’s doing. Delighted for all involved with this, especially the D players, Mike Bobo and Mark Richt. I think the next few seasons are gonna be fun.

Indeed. I’ll take the label of “mediocrity-accepting Disney Dawg” over “chronic bullshitter” any day of the week.

I still think Richt’s meeting with Grantham last Thursday laid out some pretty stringent requirements for improvement going forward and both knew there was a possibility of Grantham leaving. Richt has obviously been thinking about this.

Yes, you don’t get this done in 41 hours without some prior conversations, imo. Have to think Pruitt was not totally happy with something in Tally, this isn’t just about the money. His background as a DB coach is the best part, followed by believing you have to blitz to make the QB get rid of the ball early. If we can just close the gap down to 8 yards we might get some errant throws from the new, inexperienced QBs in the SEC. Pruitt coached DBs along with being the DC for the Seminoles, that allows another coaching spot for us…….cue the “we need a ST coach crowd”.

This feels so, so, so much better than the long wait post Willie to get Grantham.
So yeah, a 5-loss season after a 12-2 year, where you were riddled with injuries, is a great deal different from a 5-loss season without major injuries following as disappointing a 3-loss season as possible.

Did Santa Claus come late this year? Goodbye, CTG and hello CJP. I sure hope this helps. And as for you Bobo — don’t get all sleepy and put the “O” on cruise control … keep your foot on that gas pedal. Richt — don’t forget what hobnail boots are for. Larry — are ya smiling today?

Best of all, assuming our recruiting class doesn’t somehow blow up, or we get ten more suspensions pending for next year, the fan base can enter the offseason optimistic and relatively united. And I thought Kiffin’s return to the SEC was the best news we’d get!

BTW, does our new DC know any Special Teams wizards?

You’d think all these Dawg fans would grow tired of “being stood up for the prom date” by Smart. Repeat look at ’14 schedule and JP’s record against Clemson, Florida, and Auburn. I posted on this site his D was the difference against All-barn in the 2nd half of the game and it reminded me of our 2nd half on the road.
